      While there are definitely work-arounds, but if she is one of those Japanese that not only takes a warm shower but a hot bath afterwards, at least she can adjust. The real concern is her intolerance to heat in general. She could have a medical condition similar to Sora's (Sora doesn't perspire, running a real risk of heat exhastion or heat stroke during the summer), or Chloe could have some other condition relating to heat tolerance

    Chloe think Bae being combination of a rat, living in shed, and likes to eat vegemite, would easily say she went a long period without cleaning herself, but that question backfired and Bae pulled a reverse uno card right back on to Chloe.

    I saw someone in a different clip mention this:
    風呂入る (entering a bath) and のぼせる (dizziness from bathing) (4:43) are all words technically directs to bathing using the bath tub and submerging into it. Although mostly it isn't extinguishable from "showering" (unless specific). She also didn't mention her showering frequency. It could be that Chloe just leave the interpretation open and maintain the sticky orca impression. Kind of reminded me of Fuslie's "I don't bath often" (but I do shower).
    Also props for the translator to keep that intricate difference while translating.

    Man, I just can't imagine going 2 weeks without a shower by choice. The longest I've gone was about 5 days and that's because I was in the wilderness on a 10-day and there weren't any. We stopped at a camp with one at the 5 day mark and then didn't get another until we finished the trek. When we got home, our hiking clothes had to go through the wash about three times to get them clean.

    There’s a genetic mutation that causes some populations to not have the usual stink. But, also, if you get to sit on something like the plastic or wood stool in a traditional Japanese bathing room, you get contact time with soap lather, without slipping and falling. The stool is pretty low to the ground, like Olympic squat low…used one in an AirBnB with Japanese roommates as well as one in a centuries old Ryokan.
    That’s definitely not something a Japanese honestay/transfer student would have overseas. My brother’s somewhat jaundiced view is that the international students he worked with all smelled like day-old cup ramen.

    • @hankhill6404
      @hankhill6404 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Its apparently a very common gene in asia that makes your body incapable of producing whatever chemical that attracts the bacteria to common areas of body odor. It's also what causes the body to produce hardened earwax instead of gooey, which is why the whole ear cleaning thing is so common there and not really anywhere else. (No i obviously dont mean asia is the only place that cleans their ears, you know what i mean)

    • @Spyduck
      @Spyduck ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hankhill6404 And you're not wrong. The earwax thing finally made sense because a lot of cautionary tales online are based on the western world where they have the waxy sort. Most of us in Asia have the dry flaky stuff, which is less susceptible to the cotton tip problem (proof - I have used cotton tips in my ears for 25 years straight)
      Even the BO issue is dependent. No matter how much I sweat for hours on a singular occasion, I barely emit a stink since I shower it off anyway

    and she still has good skin too.

      I mean, a summer shower isn't a full on shower, just jump in, scrub the extra sweaty bits, and you're out in like a minute or two.
      It's as much about being able to cool off in the water than it is about getting clean.

      It depends on the circumstances. I have been at a construction site where we rigged a hose with a nozzle to mist the area and we would take our gear off (not necessarily clothing but sometimes the guys would even take the shirt off too and we'd get wet in order to try and cool off for a bit. I would do this several times in a day. Another site myself and a coworker would be constantly hosing off in an attempt to keep cool.

    Daily bathtub is just too much. Daily shower due to sweating in the summer OK. Daily shower even if you don't smell or stick, a bit too much in my opinion.
    Personally, I didn't even have a bathtub for 15 years. It is more common to have a shower space here.
