  • Reginald "Crash" Harrison of Saskatchewan, Canada, completed 19 bombing missions and crashed 4 times as a bomber pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Second World War. None of the crashes were his fault. In this video, with author Deana Driver beside him, Reg tells the Canadian Aviation Historical Society's annual convention about how his parachute got caught as he was trying to exit the Halifax bomber's cockpit while ditching the plane over a field in England. This led to the third of four crashes he survived during his wartime service.
Reg's fascinating life story, from growing up in the Dirty Thirties on a Prairie farm through his war years and his life of service afterward, is told in the book Crash Harrison: Tales of a Bomber Pilot Who Defied Death by Deana J. Driver. Signed copies are available from driverworks.ca/
