- This time, we'll analyse another character from The Godfather, Albert Neri, a mysterious and intriguing enforcer, and we'll try to found out who he really is. Often compared to Luca Brasi, we'll also found out how different they are.

Michael: *"Al, why did you kill Fredo?!?"*
Al: "I thought you gave me 'the look'!"
Haha! nice one
That made me laugh proper hard!
LMAOOO 😂
Sometimes going fishing. Means just going fishing.
The contrast between Al Neri and Luka is another work of art. Luka is a brute force. His existence in the atmosphere already shows how much pressure he creates. Which is why he killed 3 men without even bringing a gun. Neri is sharp and lethal. He's a gentleman and help people closes doors. Which is why he was disguised in his old uniform before killing 3 men.
That's totally correct 💯
I’ve heard Al Neri being compared to a scalpel, his calm demeanor being like that of a surgeon. Meanwhile Luca was a jackhammer, breaking people as easy as one would break concrete. Both brilliant in their own ways yet equal in every right!
Al Neri was a beast and unlike Luka he wasn’t a huge man but he still got the job done. He even tried to save the limo driver from getting whacked but he refused to pull off .
How to tell everyone you never read the book.
Thanks for giving me the back story on this iconic godfather character.
Remember those quizzes on MySpace? One was 'which Godfather character are you?' I got Al Neri.
Ah MySpace, good old days.
His best scene is in the godfather part 2, when he steps outside and never loses sight on Michel
Luca was a product of his time. Neri was timeless
Al Neri is a scalpel. Luka is a force of nature.
Growing up i always wanted a friend like Neri
Al was the best. Totally a loyal solider..
I agree
Al Neri is so scary, he doesn't talk, and he did not slept with the fishes!
Al Neri is my favorite character in the Godfather
I enjoyed this- thank you!
I'm so glad to hear that!
My top 3 books in any order you like: The Godfather, The Gulag Archipelago and 1984.
for creating fear in other people it has to be Luca but to use brains as well Al
Actually Neri had much more screen time and really never talk
Love the book . This video is brilliant 👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
No mention of what Al did to the girl in the brothel in II?
Corleone family made me an offer , I couldn't refuse...
Such a loyal man. RESPECT
Did you manage to throw Klingman out of his own hotel yet?

Wow oh wow, Al Neri is from another world, I'm definitely rooting for Big Al, I wonder what happened to h when Michael retired to Sicily, did he stay on to serve under Vincent or did he also retire?🤔🤔
He's a devoted man, therefore i'm guessing he was still with the family.
Such a good video a “bacame” a subscriber
What is this soundtrack I can almost place it but not quite and it's driving me crazy haha
Excellent post. Isn’t there a scene or deleted scene where Vito says to Michael when discussing Al: “It looks like you found your Luca.”?? I’ve been looking but have been unsuccessful so far. Am I experiencing The Mandela Effecr??? Lol
Nah I remember that too
Nirrie was calm cool and so trusted men like him our rare
Al Neri needs his own movie.
Al Neri symbolizes the good guys in society who were blacklisted and shun away for doing the right thing by the very people he initially worked for, only to realize there was more loyalty in being an organized criminal rather than gov jobs!!
Neri - means black in Italien and whereas Fredo means cold - a perfect play on their assassination scene Fredo is put into the black and cold of the Lake,
Neri in Punjabi weirdly means darkness, storminess.
@@nimanbains7034 joy of ancient links in the indo-european language family
The actor died at 68 getting hit by bus in 2006. Wow! A sad way to go.
RIP🙏 Al Neri is my favorite character in The Godfather.
Latter on Neri became one of the Attwell Avenue Boys, drank alot of Sanka and Carvel cake
I think it's crazy that Luca had the brute nature while Al was more intelligent. Imagine Vito with an enforcer as intelligent as Neri. Phew!!
i don't know why everyone is always comparing neri and brasi. they don't even serve the same function. brasi is heavy artillery, that's it. neri is much more.
I thought there was a rule in the Mafia that an ex-cop could never be a made man?
same here but Philly Mob boss Stanfa made an ex cop Ron Previte who was also his driver
Go on then sweetheart, you go tell Al Neri he can't be made in the mafia!
Mike Ehrmantraut, from Breaking Bad, was also a made man, fully trusted by his boss, Gustavo Fringe, despite his past as a officer at Philly PD. I presume mob bosses make exception, depending on reliability and efficiency, with certain members of their personnel.
Al neri ne ferait pas dans la dentelles❤
Why do you know it is him Al Neri to kill Moe Green? We dont see the face in the movie.
The book
That wasn't Neri who shot Roth?
No it was rocco lampone

Thanks.
Movie Al Neri was a joke. Al Neri in the book was a hulking, massive physical presence who subdued violent criminals by smashing a flashlight over their heads, rather than use a gun. The movie Al Neri looked like he went to Princeton with Michael.
Yo wouldn't be saying that if yo ass was black and yo make yo living from pedaling yo sisters ass.
I like that about movie Neri, you wouldn’t suspect him.
You have it wrong about Neri He serves in the marines during WW2 that is where he got his training & experience! Michel meet him when he served
Mancini is pronounced ManSEENEE not ManCHEENIE! Sorry but simple mistakes take away from credibility. It was my feeling that virtually everyone in Michael's immediate world, including Tom and Connie, knew full well that he had killed Fredo.
Al was a cruel jerk. No need to glorify him
Brasi was no angel either. His backstory is more violent.

Neri butchered a girl in a brothel with a knife to frame a politician for the Corleone family.
Luca Brassi never butchered girls. He only beat, crippled and killed men for Vito Corleone.
@@SoldierAndrew in the book he throws a baby into a furnace.
stock videos made this unwatchable
Thanks for saving me 7 minutes.
Skipped!
I'm talking about Al Neri's background and the things that weren't depicted during the entire saga, so of course I'm going to use stock videos to describe a scene, it makes it easier to understand. However, I'm not going to randomly insert movie scenes since that wouldn't make sense.
@@owenmccord5078 Don't listen to him, make your own opinion. I'm sure he didn't watch the entire video He's only showing stock videos when he's talking about Neri's past, which makes sense. It's like only a few clips that are stock videos.
Al in the book is Michaels luca.pretty accurate video.
