You guys are what the Good ole USA 🇺🇸 is about ingenuity you guys have a new sub and I’m getting this filter with the catch can
Thank you for watching & the kind words. We appreciate your business, and I believe you will be well pleased with that set up.
Instead of using the teflon tape, use the o-ring equipped washer that’s used with the HD Banjobolts - they just seal excellent !
Depending on which EBS you use, this may be possible. Teflon tape or teflon paste are a great alternative/addition, because the not only prevent oil migrating down the threads, but it also works as a type of thread locker to keep the bolts from backing out.
Harley uses o-rings on some of their systems, but they always use teflon paste in addition.
Here is a great alternative that uses o-rings And teflon tape or paste.
www.dkcustomproducts.com/transformer-external-breather-systems.htm
and here is a video about them- th-cam.com/video/_XYXScy3j0Q/w-d-xo.html
I didn’t see you tighten the banjo bolts to the heads?
The video messed up and that part was missed, but you would tighten the banjo bolts to 120-144 inch lbs (not ft. lbs).
Since most garages don’t have an accurate inch lb torque wrench. Put them in finger tight, as tight as you can get them with your fingers, then use an open end wrench to turn them another ⅛-¼ of a turn. If they are overtightened, it is possible that they will break off, leaving just the threads in the head.
I am sorry that part of the video was missing. You can also see a the installation instruction at this link - www.dkcustomproducts.com/media/wysiwyg/Updated_04_11_22_Premium_Discrete_External_Breather_Instructions_-_Google_Docs.pdf

Why not run the breather lines up to a filter under the tank and the oil will run back into the engine?
No reason not to. Many folks do that. I have done that on my Softail and Sporty. See pics of that at this link- www.dkcustomproducts.com/stealth-external-breather-system-harley-sportster-big-twin-evo-dk-b-sd-ebs-sp.htm
@@DKCustomProducts on my diy ebs, I just t'd the lines and ran hose down along bottom of frame and left open. Hoping to get a little bit of a dribble... I feel weird having a Harley that doesn't drip oil 🤷🏻♂️
@@fxrmike5145 haha, great "problem" to have.
Question: Why do the banjo fittings have a larger hole on one side and smaller hole on the other? In my mind there must be a reason otherwise, why would it be manufactured that way?
This is a part we do not make, we purchase it. The reason for the different sizes is that the banjos have been used for multiple applications, and some of them (that don't apply to us) require the hole to be larger on one side than the other.
Just wondering if you could post a picture with the black casing on your chrome motor, think the offset would look great with this breather
I know I have some pics somewhere of that...just looked and could not find them. The best we have is at this link- www.dkcustomproducts.com/black-7-spoke-hiflow-606-air-cleaner-sys-harley-milwaukee-eight-dk-ac606-b7s-m8.htm
Will look more in the next few days and see if I can find some to add into the link above.
@@DKCustomProducts okay thanx for the feedback and ride safe
Do you have a guide or chart which factory Harley cleaner's are interchangeable, to be specific I have a DK from a 2011, will it fit a 2004? Thanks.
In the last 20+ years there have been 3 different air cleaner fitments for Big Twins.
1. Cable operated Throttle Twin Cam
2. Fly by wire operated Twin Cam
3. Milwaukee-Eight
Your 2011 Twin Cam should be cable operated, so it will also fit you 2004.
Thanks. Very detailed instructions.
Thanks for watching! Good to hear that you liked the vid.
Is this a simple bolt on for twin cams using the HD stage one round breather without modifying the three bolt holes?? I have the Vance and Hines breather that is just like the Harley stage one.
Yes, it directly bolts up, all the same holes, gasket, etc as the factory or V&H air cleaners.
www.dkcustomproducts.com/complete-chrome-7-spoke-hiflow-606-air-cleaner-all-twin-cam-dk-ac606-c7s-tc.htm
I just ordered the 606 without the filter element since i have a big sucker 2 element already. The big sucker 2 element should fit the backplate right? It should have the same footprint as the big sucker 1 but just taller so maybe i might need longer standoff bolts or longer screws to fasten the element to the standoff bolts?
What bike do you have? That matters because the M8 we have to drill holes to fit the back plate. If it is an M8 you will need our filter element. MB
@@DKCustomProducts Sportster, an 08 roadster 1200, will work or no?
Do you know what the filter element number is on your Big Sucker? The K&N filter element that fits with the Sportster 606 is the 0800 filter.
@@DKCustomProducts the only number I can find on it is 50-086, I found a guy on the HD forum that says the Big sucker 1, 2, and the screamin eagle 1 (k&n) are all interchangeable on the same backplate so we'll see.
I hope that it does work for you. Please do let us know and feel free to reach out with any questions;

Would the rain sock help with fine sand we have in high desert AZ. It's a supper find blow sand that we get daily along with our wind. We are being bless to be getting rain this fall. I have a FreeWheel 2021 with over 6500 miles on her. I be calling about a new air filter as I know the stock one isn't doing it.
Congrats on your FreeWheeler!
Thank you for watching our videos, and we appreciate your business.
Yes, a rain sock (pre-filter) would be helpful. Your filter will come pre-oiled, but make sure you keep it oiled, you want anything that gets past the rain sock to be stopped by the oiled filter element.
Let me know where you put your catch filter, and where can I buy one like that?
On that particular bike I put it below the floorboard, at the front bracket on the inboard side. Here is a link to the Premium Discrete System that is in this video- www.dkcustomproducts.com/premium-discrete-breather-system-twin-cam-touring-softail-dyna-dk-pr-dis-brt-tc.htm
You can mount the filter or catch-can pretty much anywhere you want, as the kit comes with 6 feet of hose to allow you to route it anywhere you want.
Feel free to email or call with any questions.

If orientation of the banjo fitting doesn't matter then why taper the ID? Isn't that just added cost?
The ID of what?
Banjo can stick straight up, everything will function just fine. If you do a lot of short rides, especially in cold weather, then the oil will not all vaporize until you get it fully heated up and run long enough for it to vaporize, but this does not impair function or performance at all. The oil will just sit in the channel until you do. It does not create any backpressure that has a perceptible affect. Check out this video- at the 5:22 mark and the 13:22 mark where we talk about and show a diagram of where the oil sits until vaporized.
th-cam.com/video/W_8oCbO2yc0/w-d-xo.html
Does the rain sock hinder airflow compared to without it being installed?
Theoretically it does, and on the dyno is shows less than 1 horsepower loss. Not enough to feel.
Buying the 606 I will not have to tune my 2020 RGS 114 M8 ???
That is correct.

Does the 828 require the support bracket?
Depends on what year and model bike you have. You may already have a support bracket and not need one. It is an option when ordering the 828. Also, if you use a Transformer EBS, it doubles as a support bracket.
@@DKCustomProducts I have a 2023 fatbob, it doesn’t look like it has that support bracket
@@tonynakhla6811 Yes, changing from stock on that bike would require a support bracket when upgrading to the 828. Again, if you use the Transformer™EBS, the support bracket is not needed, as it doubles as a support bracket and External Breather System.
@@DKCustomProducts ok thank you!!
@@tonynakhla6811 You're welcome, thanks for watching! Ride safe!
Do you have the catch can anchored somehow under the floorboard, or is it allowed to move around freely? I have a 2018 Sport Glide; I've mounted FatBoy rider floorboard mounts & Heritage floorboards in place of the factory pegs & I think it's where I would like to hang a catch can.
Zip tie around the hose (right where the hose connects to the catch-can) and the floorboard mount so it does not flop around. Zero issues in over two years of riding all kinds of terrain.
I know this is an old video but I plan on picking up a 606 and breather kit shortly. Are the hoses in the breather kit high temperature or heat resistant/proof? I'd like to run the breather hose between the cylinders and then down between the primary and frame.
The hose is high temp and has no problem going between the cylinders and down between the primary and the frame. However, you do not want to let it rest/touch the cylinder fins or engine case.
Do you guys make an air cleaner for the Kawasaki Vulcans? Yes I’m a Harley Guy too but I inherited my uncle’s bike after he died and I’m going to bob it out and do what I can to make it nice.
Thank you for checking with us. We do not make anything specifically for Vulcans. You don't say what year and model you have. It is possible that one of our air cleaners could be slightly modified to fit.
@@DKCustomProducts thank you for replying. It’s a 2009 Vulcan 900 classic.
I’m bobbing it out so having a good air cleaner to match the build would be cool.
@@soldierofmygod Just looked at the intake on the 2009 Vulcan 900. I do not see an easy way to mod our 587 or 606 to fit. It is definitely possible, but it would take a bit of fab work to get the backplate to match up with the intake shape.
Got one, love it
Thank you! Glad you like the video.

I have a 2014 Heritage Softail classic, I wish there was a Air Cleaner system with external breather system for my bike. I searched everywhere and mine must be an odd ball. For example there's not a support bracket (16400049) on mine and I would be wasting my money buying one because there's no way one would even fit my bike. I made my own external breather system, but would like a better air cleaner with the external system.
Ken, we have dozens and dozens of air cleaners that fit your 2014 Heritage Softail Classic. Your bike came with that stock support bracket. Why do you think one will not fit it?
@@DKCustomProducts My Air breather system is stock and does not have that bracket. I'm willing to make a 500.00 wager nothing will fit. I have watched every TH-cam video out there on performance air breather systems external breather systems and there's not a one that will work on mine. Where are you guys located? Also there's no external breather system for my bike that is complete,. Everyone neglects the fact that the 2 holes on the back of the air filter that the breather tubes went in now are open and require plugs. I'm not wanting to sound rude I love the concept of DKCustoms products just wish there was something that would work on my bike..
@@Kenny-hh3zf I have not been able to find a 2014 Heritage Softail Classic that does not accept the factory bracket. That does not mean it does not exist. I just can't find one.
Could you please email a photo of your bike from the air cleaner side straight on, and also from the air cleaner side oriented either from the front of the air cleaner or the rear of the air cleaner, to Support@DKCustomProducts.com and put "Attention Kevin" in the subject line?
That would help me out a lot, and possibly get us on track for helping you.
Ken, just sent you an email. Got everything untangled.
Good thing we did not take Ken up on his offer of a wager!
Bike in question is a cable operated Twin Cam, it uses a different Support Bracket (the one at the link below)
The support bracket in the video, and the one specifically asked about, is a bracket for at Throttle By Wire Milwaukee-Eight. It is absolutely correct, an M8 bracket will not fit a Twin Cam!
The support bracket for a cable operated Twin Cam automatically comes with all our Complete Intake Systems, and can be seen at this link-
www.dkcustomproducts.com/stealth-air-cleaner-support-bracket-harley-davidson-twin-cam-dk-aci-sbtc.htm
How much of an improvement does the 606 have over the HD Screaming Eagle air cleaners?
It depends on the bike...On an M8 it will be 6-10% increase in HP and Torque, on a Twin Cam about 4-7 increase in HP & Torque.

Can I install this entire system but use the OEM 114 cover? In other words, install all of this exactly as you did with the benefits but keep the OEM look?
Yes, we have a kit specifically for using this Performance Intake under the stock cover. You can see it at this link- www.dkcustomproducts.com/naked-complete-hiflow-606-air-cleaner-harley-milwaukee-eight-dk-ac606-nk-m8.htm
@@DKCustomProducts thank you.
With the stock OEM cover will you still get the same gains as the performance covers
You are excellent with your video thank you
Thank you!
Can you just use the screws now or do you need to use the tub and vent/can system?
If you are asking about the breather bolt holes, they need to have a way to breathe, you cannot put screws (bolts) into those holes and just block off the air flow.
Great videos bro 👍I just purchased the 606 with the external breather kit. I have a screamin eagle air cleaner on my M8 right now but I don’t have the two center screws/bolts that hold the Support Bracket. Any idea what size screws/bolts those are?
Thank you for your business, and glad you're liking the videos. I believe you will be well pleased with the 606.
Those screws are Harley Part #10200373 and they are listed as SCREW M6 X 1 X 18mm hex head (Grade 10.9) (zinc)
Thank you! Looking forward to running the 606 air cleaner
@@molonlabe5751 Enjoy the Ride! 👍
Watching your vid on the 606 air cleaner install th-cam.com/video/P5kqcm0Lx1o/w-d-xo.html leads me to a question; first I have a 2020 Road Glide and it does have the support bracket but when you talk about the factory bracket for the air cleaner (6:07 into the vid)? I have no bracket there and noticed there wasn’t one on the 2019 bike you used for the demo. My stock air cleaner cover is painted and would like to keep it
For your 2020 Road Glide, the 606 package at the following link has that bracket as part of the kit, enabling you to run your stock cover.
www.dkcustomproducts.com/naked-complete-hiflow-606-air-cleaner-harley-milwaukee-eight-dk-ac606-nk-m8.htm
Thank you for looking at our parts, we appreciate it.
Looks like a little over engineering. If the orientation of the banjo breather fittings with the
nipples doesn't matter why machine one side of the hole bigger than the opposite side? Must be some reason. The shoulder washers appeared to be both the same size and the one that went into the larger size hole appeared to be a sloppy fit. Why pay extra for the shoulder washers if there's a possibility you have to ditch 2 of them because of an interference fit? The backside shoulder washer should be a precise fit or better yet eliminate it and machine a shoulder onto the backside of the banjo breather so it centers itself in the breather hole in the cylinder head. Then use a breather bolt with a washer built into the head for the outside. This eliminates the shoulder washers altogether and fixes the backing plate clearance issue. Also it was mentioned briefly the backing plate was 2 pieces and that was the only time it was shown or mentioned. Did I miss something?
We do not make the banjo fittings. We purchase them and they are the design they are because they are made to fit multiple applications with multiple shoulder washer options.
If you want to see a set up where we build the entire package, with precision, check out this video, and the link below
th-cam.com/video/_XYXScy3j0Q/w-d-xo.html
www.dkcustomproducts.com/transformer-external-breather-systems.htm
Regarding the 2 pieces, the backplate is made of 2 pieces of metal that are plug welded together prior to being powder coated.
You can see a clear photo of that here- www.dkcustomproducts.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/6/0/606nakedm-8.jpg
Oil and gas will eventually eat away the teflon tape; that's why Harley uses the paste.
I wonder how long eventually is?
I've never seen the tape eaten away...not in the 100's of thousands of miles I've run using tape.
