@@ZackTactical34 creating a desire to give up and retreat if youre being pinned down is one of the interesting parts of the overhaul though, allows fights to be won and lost without tickets
That dual troop dismount from the transport is so damn cool.
they really missed an opportunity for an archipelago conquest aas, one thing though is i have no idea how it would work. There would be a lot of soldiers stuck on islands all relying on a few helicopters and boats coming from main, it would require a lot of vehicles, and or vehicles respawning/being available at points.
This map needs boats and helis.
They also need to spread the points.
@@RustyBearAgree. Hopefully this is just a proof-of-concept rather than anything resembling the final product. This map needs boats, more amphibious vehicles and non-linear layers otherwise it will just be a map with water. Hopefully they step up their game for the official release of the map.
I think if they rework it, they could do an analog for the Solomon Islands. Just a main island and a number of smaller ones spread out around it.
Squad was supposed to be a teamplay-focused milsim, like PR, in which players worked together to win the game. It devolved into COD, with a multitude of Rambos doing their own thing, and rounds being "won" by pure chance much of the time. Hopefully the rebuild will force COD kids to either git gud at Squad or go play actual COD.
This is just layer V1. Im sure they'll add that with the subsequent layers
The map and Marine invasion I wanted to see. Unfortunately it's all on the one island 😞 and a real bummer no amphibious assault.

By the looks of the map design... it is highly possible there will be an island hopping scenario being planned bec you will see other unused island assets...

Wish they added an island hopping map with even naval combat maybe. Brings me back to playing BF1 with the island maps with warships, planes, huge stationary cannons and a crazy mix of close quarters and super long range.
I think it is on the works as you can see the map has other islands that do not have control points yet.Maybe in the future

Love to finally see players using mechanized infantry and APCs for transporting and reinforcing objectives, everyone just uses them for gunning normally.
You're so right on mortars. The lack of flanking and open terrain would make mortars op on this!
would love to see that bigger island of the bottom left being used. maybe on an invasion layer, which they'll hopefully roll out with the inf overhaul :D
Played a couple rounds of this today, was actually really fun! Reminded me a bit of Wake Island from the Battlefield series.

Joint Operations - Typhoon Rising was the best first-person shooter that ever existed. Orange Bowl server was usually 150 players full. I loved doing underwater demolition of enemy heavy vehicle transport water craft as they left their dock; behind enemy lines as one example. I wish I recorded some of the heaviest fire fights with tracer rounds everywhere. It was amazing gents.
Some of my fondest memories were sneaking into the back of enemy transport helicopters and knifing the pilot after we took off. So many goofy shenanigans in that game.
That's one thing I didn't try but it was so great at open opportunities. @@aaronrose3110

I have to agree with MoiDawg, I want to see them make a map that is a massive across map island hop. Two Marine factions... not a single one of them does anything marine-ee.
A 1-life event on this map would be amazing!

On island maps, and coastal maps, I feel like artillery support should be replaced with "Naval Gunfire Support"
which instead of volleys would be more like rapid, yet single shot, artillery strikes
Imagine : USMC oto melara naval guns + tomahawk Cruise missile when russian side have AK130 dual naval guns + Su 27 with S25-OF or S25-O heavy rockets.
This will be refreshing because we need more support strike like the bomb carpet airstrike from the syrian specops mod or the canon and rocket chopper strike + laser guided GBU airstrike from the french faction mod.
And why don’t we introduce cluster strikes or napalm/thermobaric mechanics ?
I hope there will be more layers that include the other islands and have more amphibious vehicles, helis and boats, it'd also be cool to see the British Royal Marines added to start fighting on the new pacific theater maps, since we have VDV, PLANMC, USMC and ADF
I think the adding of a new faction with exclusive materials and weapons will be better, like IDF, JSDF or the french mod by tactical collective.
Looking forward to more interesting/better layers for this map tbh! Just still makes me wish for a Squad:Vietnam mode like how PR has. Fun video tho, those grenades were devastating :D

@@weebay6166 Project Reality - its the BF2 mod that Squad kinda came from :) (EDIT: PR is a modern-combat game much like Squad, but it had an integrated 'mod' kinda mode for Vietnam, which was utterly fantastic fun because asymmetrical warfare and analog weapons! Very very cinematic at times, was my favourite thing about PR, haha!)

It’s different seeing it from an admin cam. I thought they had a hab there but they were just running from main… the MK19 is BS. Marines are too overpowered in this layer. Give them an open top

Been loving Squad recently, moved from Hell Let Loose after multiple bad changes to the game + no bug fixes made for bugs that've been a thing for years. Hyped for the scope suppression changes coming hopefully sooner than later. At least I know this dev team wont push back an update this big for more than a year, unlike Team17 with Hell Let Loose.

Kinda scratches the itch of ww2 island battles but in a "milsim". Makes it more immusive when you work with people to take small landmarks and move only a few hundred feet. Kinda like how it was in the islands

Everytime I get behind the MK19 its a friendly fire disaster
I played it once, had great fun, the view of you whole team pushing one objective at once was amazing. However I don't see myself enjoying this layer over and over again, it's just too small and not diverse enough.
First time I've seen this map. looks interesting but disappointing there are no amphibious vics or helis... It looks like it was made for future updates tho. So I guess that's a good sign. Idk what they're doing over at OWI anymore. Some stuff still isnt polished with plants levitating or rocky areas that you can walk/see through.

Visually this map looks really weak. For it size it lags by details. I hope they will update this map.
This map just further examples the lack of inspiration in the devs map designs. How about something that looks like what 400 acres would look like when turned into a battlefield. What about a beach landing with barb wire, artillery craters, etc. the trenches are weak and look more like natural canals than human made trenches. The land is unscathed. The trees should be toppled and destroyed. What about some tunnels. There should be more intricate tunnels and trench networks in Thai type of battlefield. This should look uninhabitable.
Every map needs more of this. They’re all so virgin.
You know, I do see what you mean. This does look very pristine for a supposed battleground. Changing the map to have some blown-out trees and changing those trenches to being more ‘gritty’/lived-in-looking would go a long ways to improving this map.
I like the tunnels idea as well.
I don’t really think the size of the map is an issue tbh, it’s a nice change of pace. I don’t particularly care for vehicle gameplay either, so maybe that’s why I like this map haha.

Such a bugged layer, you can see through rocks when you prone on them, no grass cover anywhere, cant mark properly on map, clearly setup to prove the TPS problems are not related to num of players in one sector, maybe play the map before you fly round and talk about it
If the Logistics vehicles getting lost wasn't so incredibly game breaking like it was in this match I'd play Squad. But this is just lazy game design. Lose a logi truck and lose the game no respawning vehicles. Who thought this was a good idea ?!!!!!!

Cmon OWI, Black Coast, Harju, Manic6 - all great maps, so we know you can do it. We need some space to manoeuvre, otherviise it's just battlefield with local comms.

@@nikbrady14 marine commandos are more of an amphibious landing force than the US marines who are literally just glorified infantry who never do amphibious landings or assaults. also if i recall correctly it was the UK who helped the US in Iraq and Afghanistan not the other way around.
Marines by definition are Naval infantry. Department of the Navy and not even the mens department
