Kel, Rich, Larry, thank you for helping me rediscover Porcupine Tree. I was a huge fan of theirs in the past, but they dropped off my radar for a while. I’d forgotten just how good they really were.
Just when I had thought there was nothing left for newer bands to offer in terms of talent and originality, Porcupine Tree came along. Hope they reunite at some point and bring these songs back to life.
John Wesley “The fifth PT” is the other guy playing on stage, he has appeared in all PT records and live performances since Stupid Dream. He’s was born and raised in Brandon, FL. P.S. He also has a very good voice which complimentary to that of Steven Wilson’s.
First song I heard from Porcupine Tree and learned on guitar maybe around 2005 - instant fan. In Absentia is from 2002 and the lyrics are very much still relevant, perhaps even more so.
Idk, I think Deadwing is their best work. But honestly, I can understand In Absentia, Deadwing, or Fear of a Blank planet being someone's vote for best. I will say, In Absentia definitely has my favorite production and mix of the three. It's incredible.
You guys, are the best! Like me and many others that really understand the essence to life, and the state-of-art from Porcupine Tree / Steve Wilson songs! I'm happy I'm not alone, in this world of messy and discarded music and songwriters, we who realize the truth behind the poets.
You got it right Rich, Beautiful. Kel, FYI: the word cerebellum means little brain. The cerebellum is the area of the hindbrain that controls movement coordination, balance, equilibrium and muscle tone. The temporal is part of the brain that deals with sound, hearing and other senses, helps with language and reading. LOL it is the nurse in me. :-)
Mrs Wife and I saw Steven Wilson on the Hand Cannot Erase tour in Manchester (UK) a couple of years ago; The Sound of Musak was included in the encore ... but as a crowd sing-along. Brilliant!
My favorite porcupine tree song asked for this a few months back along with dream theater the mirror glad he has similar tastes haha Great reaction as always guys!!
From memory, their earlier albums were a bit more laid back, with great vocal harmonising - and instrumentals also, e.g. The Sky Moves Sideways. I'll have to get the albums out for another listen, it's been too long! My brother, 10 years younger, introduced me to them. We saw them during 'The Incident' tour over here (in England). Peace. :)
My AC has been out since Monday .... Boiling here guys . New unit tomorrow hopefully. SC heats no joke without ac lol Three PT reviews in a day ! Bravo 🤜🤛
Many PT songs have great vocal harmonies because I heard or read somewhere that Steven Wilson was inspired by the Beatles and also the Beach Boys LP "Pet Sounds". John Wesley had been with the last few PT studio albums and was especially good on the Chicago live album and "Anesthetize"....
I saw you listening Fear Inoculum.. Tool. Now...Porcupine Tree. My two favorites bands. Wow.. Love you guys you're amazing...and your friends too. Saludos desde CHILE.. Viva el rock. Like and suscribe now!!
If yall went down to Key West you probably drove right by my place in Key Largo XD On a musical note, I just recently discovered the band that Gavin Harrison is in now The Pineapple Thief. I really like their song White Mist. You can definitely tell its Gavin behind that drum kit!
This isn't the album version, this has been altered in some way. Listening to them side by side and there's echo being used, as well as some subtle keyboard work.
Kel and Rich, please listen to 'So called friend', 'Futile', 'Halo', 'Normal', 'The Incident', 'Time Flies' and 'What Happened Now'. Please please. Whichever Larry picks first. Larry, its all in your hands now. From one PT/SW fan to another.
If you guys like Porcupine Tree, why not try Gavin's new band The Pineapple Thief. Song IN EXILE. Pineapple thief are and old band but Gavin's been drumming on the last two. Strongly recommend them.
I think it's a rip onto elevator music. Muzak has been around for years. They take a popular song and water it down and synthesize it so that all the heart and soul is taken out. Hence, the biggest "wonder of the world" becomes the "biggest blunder in the world."
Steven Wilson. You won't go wrong, though Routine and The Raven That Refused To Sing will tear you up. Especially Routine. Then you can do Permanating for something more lighthearted.
Only Steve Wilson can write a prog song about elevator music. In Absentia is my favorite PT album. No more Carvel in CA. Have to settle for Baskin Robbins. Used to go to Boca for training and always had fun on the weekends. You should try making phone contact with a requester during a reaction video.
New subscriber here..I love watching your reaction vids..Awesome stuff guys!! I know you get a lot of song requests but if you do get time check out Steven Wilson's tune, pariah. Enjoy.
ufff...i see and feel you guys are getting bored of the Songs from (most of the time) the same bands. finally you meet Soen, pain of salvation etc..... But! Wrong Songs!! And there are a lot of Bands or Musicians who will let your Mouth open and leave you with Tears in the Eyes. If you want listen Music for your Soul, let me knows. I give you a example...i start with a old one... Wishbone Ash "Handy". Enjoy it. PS i listen Music very intensiv for the last 45 Years and trust me...i know what you like.
Well, with Porcupine Tree you have it easy, it's really hard to find a bad song from them.
True dat

A pleasure to watch and listen, love porcupine tree! and you guys are great🤟👍

He's the underrated member of PT. Great singer and guitar player.

Such a brilliant band! Thanks for reacting to this. I hope there are many PT songs to come :)
Heard SW play this live in India and it sounded pretty much studio quality. Incredible artist.
Another gem. Was lucky enough to see them live several times. Love 'em.
I managed to get a hold of this beautiful album when I was 17. The rest is history!
Gotta love Kel’s eyes lighting up and her reaction when the chorus kicks in.
Oh, I love this song! In Absentia is an incredible album. Great reaction, guys!
Incredible song. In Absentia is their best album IMO. Flawless beginning to end.
Idk, I think Deadwing is their best work. But honestly, I can understand In Absentia, Deadwing, or Fear of a Blank planet being someone's vote for best.

One of my top 5 bands ever....love Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson.
The Raven that refused to sing is by far the best piece of music I have ever heard. So hauntingly beautiful. Just sayin'.

Good to see my buddy Wes (John Wesley) get a shout-out for his contributions to the PT sound !!
There are rumblings of a reunion.. Got any inside info? PT forever ♫
My 2nd foray into PT solidified my love for them. This is the one!
Percupine tree is one of my fav bands... and sound of muzak is a masterpiece
Can't do Porcupine Tree without doing Start of Something Beautiful or Arriving Somewhere but not Here....
Totally agree, the live versions are even better than the studio recordings :)
Did Arriving!!!!!

7/4 ;)
Brilliant drum song. And brilliant in general. I recommend some live versions it`s even better
Hey Kel. The way you enjoyed the song made me tear up a little bit.
If you get the 5.1 version on DVD audio it's so good!! You guys rock!!
Gavin Harrison, now with King Crimson was the drummer for Renaissance, for a short time in 1983! TRY a FIRST REACTION for RENAISSANCE!
Another one of my favorite bands! Blackest Eyes is another great one, yet another amazing band with a lot of genuinely good songs

For "Beach Boys"-like vocal harmonies, nothing beats _Heartattack in a layby_ in my book. That song is an honest tearjerker.
Harmonies reminded me of America and Eagles.
FANTASTIC!
Kel is a rockin`cutie !!
Great choice Larry! Love this song and this band. Can you do Stars Die? Pleeeeease???
That's What I Call real jazz
Love your reaction guys. Keep it up.
GREAT song...one if the best PT songs!!

It is bad equalized
Y'all gotta do Moonloop by Porcupine Tree. It's long, but IMO it is one of the best things Steven Wilson did.
take a ear of The Pinneapple thief guys
Blackest Eye next then! That riff is monumental.
Kel and Rich, please listen to 'So called friend', 'Futile', 'Halo', 'Normal', 'The Incident', 'Time Flies' and 'What Happened Now'. Please please. Whichever Larry picks first.

I'd so love to be sitting in that chair! Bit too far though from Bellingen, Australia. :(
yay!! the return of the P Tree :D
Hmmm good call Larry! Had never heard of this band. I dig it. In an odd way, it reminds me of Twiddle. Not sure how though

Hello! please watch the video of the group "Los Jaivas" are Chilean musicians, with their song "la poderosa muerte"
The song is simple and it's simplicity is it's strength. While the lyrics are an interesting critique on modern music.
I can never decide whether I love or hate the lyrics. Just seems weird to write a song criticizing other music.
@@MustObeyTheRules I understand that. Although it's not weird for me. Considering the current state of the music industry.
