Thanks I'll check that out. I'm not exactly a Tesla fan, but I am definitely impressed with their construction now that I saw that thing work after getting every nook and cranny pressure washed haha.
No F****** way. When you're washing the inside of it, i was saying to myself, "well goodbye electronics", especially touchscreen. But damn, this is impressive af.
its funny everyone has so much problems with waterproofing and i soak my iphone 8 all the time, and just this weekend i had my phone fully submerged in lake.. and i use the phone in shower and shit.. i haven't killed it
Rice bag stuff is a myth, look it up. The water evaporates at a worse rate, because the humidity in the bag will be very high. The rice does not suck it out of the air. Only on surface contact.
exactly and as a phone technician I can say if you get your phone wet don't put it in rice it actually makes it worse by condemning the nutrients from the water to stick and dry to the board causing corrosion
Long hard day at work......this video has made my evening. Shout out to Rich all the way from across the pond in the UK. You got international fans my man, been a fan since day 1.
If I were you I'd find a nice swimming pool to park that thing in to make sure it stays working... I think it's probably evolved into a water vehicle.... I think Darwin predicted this would happen. Eventually.
theres a vid on youtub of a lady power washing the inside of here car. and this reminded me of that.. with this car no harm done as it was already under water.
As an idea for anyone who think he f-ed up by powerwashing it with no care, the mold is no joke, thing was under water for 10 days, he expected it to be dead so he just washed some of that crap from the car before working on it for his health's sake. He could have waited until the next day for a power up, for things to dry, but just washing it couldn't have done more damage than what has already happened to the car. The fact that is worked is a damn miracle tho. This car is starting to look more and more like a gem not an overpaid for pos as it started out. Battery pack and mcu working in a flood tesla he bought for what pottentially could have been a shell car for his red car's parts. He might come out pretty damn good on selling the extra parts even tho he paid alot for the broken cars. He got lucky on working things.
renyn21 the Model S is pretty damn awesome. I have owned one for quite some time and it is a dream to drive. People who hate on them are often people who have no clue.
robert gardner well, yea, the electronics in the car worked. What do you understand from the word worked. The battery pack was removed long ago. Of course it wouldn't spin the wheels. Some people on youtube. Sheesh.
If a short circuit detector went off soon enough to disconnect the battery before the car fully flooded then I can guarantee that car will still likely be fully operational. Electronics are immune against water provided no current was flowing thru them or they didn't start corroding
Hanro50, dude I have to disagree with you unfortunately. Under the circumstance electronics are dried off immediately after being wet you would be correct. However, once this car was removed from the water it was left locked with 100% humidity in it for months!!!! In other words corrosion. I think this is Rich fucking with us, I am calling it now!!!! There is just NO fucking way!!!!!! If I am wrong I will proudly wash the egg off my face, but I really don't think I am!!!
Quick, someone tell Louis (Rossmann) that the new fix for a customer's broken Macbook Pro is to place it in a full bathtub, let it sit for 10 days, rinse it down with a power-washer, and then power it up! Revolutionary! :-P
David H it is even not needed for ICE cars if engine after washing doesn't start same can happen driving in rain through puddles. It means distributor cap is already cracked.
WOW this guy is amazing. Ive been saying, this guy could start a franchise of Tesla rebuilds/repairs OR just have a comedy show on Netflix. Either way very talented.
poobear Cretu Little show!!! How do you think his wife buys everything inside the Mall. Oh she has known look at how many subscribers he has. This guy Banks.
Iv'e never seen any car power washed in the interior, Yet alone a electronic laden Tesla.. You have some big balls my friend... Keep up the good work..
In the middle of algebra one, saw that he uploaded. *clicks video with immense force and speed* (Edit: Father rich, as a 14 y/o you are basically a god to me, because of you, i have convinced my dad to buy a Tesla model x)
Nobody likes the colour. It´s just a little different from the usual suspects, which makes you think you like it. But it is just as bureaucratic and grey as the current ones. Green, yellow or orange for me thanks. Also because they are not standard. ;)
Mold & stain remover= 2 gallon pump sprayer. Distilled water. Lysol liquid. Oxy Clean powder. In a separate container, mix well, zero clumps or granules. Pour into sprayer. Spray top down, thoroughly soaking. Let stand min 1 hour. Pressure wash off.
I been watching Rich since I stumbled upon him while he was building Deloris. This video right here earns him my subscription AND I'm going to buy a Tesla. YOU CANT KILL A TESLA!
Ninja Master I wouldn’t worry about the outside electrical motor and such since they are designed to be water resistant. Cars don’t stall during heavy rain unless you flood the muffler or carburetor with water. That’s why 4WD and trucks have snorkel type exhaust to prevent water flooding into the engine. What’s impressive though is the interior electronics like the dash and management panel working after they’ve been power washed. Your smartphone and tablet is unlikely to survive that.
It's a damn good thing you were so careful with it before determining whether or not anything, or as it turns out, EVERYTHING was working. Imagine how bad you would have felt if you just hosed the thing out for instance without a care in the world as to what stuff you might have broken or damaged by adding more water to a previously submerged car.... It's really a testament to how you do everything I guess the forethought the planning all the preparation that you put into these builds .... The sheer dedication and anal retentive attention to the most minoot detail. Obviously, this work ethic that you bring to your builds, and you're never ending dogged determination I guess, and most of all how could I forget your obsessive compulsive attention and laser beam like Focus and drive to succeed. It's all starting to pay off. Of course your wife still thinks you're an idiot. So that's what they do right?
Did you pressure wash the electrics with distilled water or with regular water? Though not recommended to wash electronic components, if you do so make sure you use a steam pressure washer and distilled water. This way you reduce the risk of damaging any cable or other electrics since you will be basically washing them with vapour, leaving no water droplets or puddles anywhere, and distilled water technically does not conduct electricity at all, so no short-circuit should occur. This also applies to any vehicle.
Dam I can’t believe it’s alive! To be honest I didn’t think you’d ever get that car working again. You should leave it in a heated garage overnight to finish drying up.
There's some truth to the car giving off a bad vibe.. I've felt that terrible gut feeling on some of my worst projects... usually you can sense it immediately..
Everything in the tesla's are waterproof. Basically for reliability reasons. Plus water along isn't conductive, it most likely killed the battery though with dirty water under the fronk.
Water is actually not deadly to electronics. Its water with impurities like dissolved salts and minerals in it which is dangerous. And that's only deadly if you have current running thru it. If you removed all the batteries from this car. You could completely submerge it and it'll be fine provided you dry it probably before adding back the batteries
Fresh water floods are often not so bad compared to salt water. I have got totally submersed fresh water cars working again. Seat motors are the worst, cupe fan motors too. But they work again if you unstick them by turning the motor over with your fingers. Had this been salt water this Tesla would be bye-bye.
I've watched most of these videos and it's astonishing Tesla didn't support you. So many episodes are filled with good surprises that are testament to the quality of the parts and build. I get it; Tesla doesn't want to encourage inexperienced people electrocuting themselves because it'll be in the headlines and then the lawsuits come. It's a pity that Tesla can't figure about how to better support the DIY community because it aligns with Musk's ethos, if I understand it correctly. That being said, yours is a genuine DIY project. Not many people blase trails, but you did, Rich. Well done to you.
Ahhhh hahahaha the ending was piss funny. Great video rich, cant beleive after you blasted it with a gurny AFTER being soaked in shit for 10 days and it STILL powered up, full credit to tesla for that one.
Electronics and water are pretty friendly as long as the electronics are off... But I would highly not recommend turning that on when its still soaking wet. Honestly you may have have cause more errors because you turned it on so soon while everything was wet. Still great job.
I was wondering that when you said it had LTE. Isn't that on the previous owner, and a subscription based thing? Is it through the car dealer typically? Blows my mind that it was still on.
So what's the story on how this thing got into water for 10 days?
Look at prior videos or the “Angela” playlist
Thanks I'll check that out. I'm not exactly a Tesla fan, but I am definitely impressed with their construction now that I saw that thing work after getting every nook and cranny pressure washed haha.
EpicSpaceTroll 13
Hurricane It was parked in a area that got flooded
EpicSpaceTroll 139 i
Powerwasher fixes everything. Condition 10/10
No F****** way.
When you're washing the inside of it, i was saying to myself, "well goodbye electronics", especially touchscreen.
But damn, this is impressive af.
A car underwater for 10 days, then he power washes the inside and it still works!? holy damn! this thing is bullet proof!
Exactly.
Now people are gonna buy flooded Teslas after seeing this video, hahaha
Tbh tap water isn’t as destructive as people think it is, swamp water on the other hand, hmmm
That was fucking extreme cringe WASHING A CAR INSIDE
Rafael Santos_7 the screen is glass all the water just run off to the floor. If he hits it from behide the dash then it would break
This Tesla is More Waterproof than a iPhone X
That's sad but true
Oblivifrek The lPhone X is just water resistant. It can only withstand a bit of rain.
I drowned my iphone X at a vegas pool party. The f**ker didnt even submerge.
And it cost about half the price lol jokingly I know someone won't get the joke
its funny everyone has so much problems with waterproofing and i soak my iphone 8 all the time, and just this weekend i had my phone fully submerged in lake.. and i use the phone in shower and shit.. i haven't killed it
I think you should have filled it with rice before trying it.
Let water boil, stir and simmer for 30 minutes.
:v
Rice bag stuff is a myth, look it up. The water evaporates at a worse rate, because the humidity in the bag will be very high. The rice does not suck it out of the air. Only on surface contact.
probably do better putting it in a bag that has a little mountain of baking soda in it lol
exactly and as a phone technician I can say if you get your phone wet don't put it in rice it actually makes it worse by condemning the nutrients from the water to stick and dry to the board causing corrosion
That ending cutscene was pure beauty
Tesla should put this in a commercial lol
Or on Top gear. The last car to survive so much was a Toyota pickup.
Pretty sure it is one
Reno Vasquez Look at the Tesla fanboys! "Elon should use this". Give it a few days that car is toast.
Reno Vasquez they don’t have commercials
Long hard day at work......this video has made my evening. Shout out to Rich all the way from across the pond in the UK. You got international fans my man, been a fan since day 1.
Instructions unclear, got burns on my genitals... Not sure those are from the charging unit though. Please advise ASAP
Samcrac send him some rice ASAP!!
david c too funny, I've got like 20lbs leftover in case you need it Rich
Samcrac ..or better not. Cheap as he is, he will cook it afterwards.. ;-) PS: love your channel Sam.
Tesla Pizza Car?
lucky you my balls smell like barbecue with the unclear instructions.
He makes the best kidnapping scenes 😂😂😂😂
If I were you I'd find a nice swimming pool to park that thing in to make sure it stays working...
I think it's probably evolved into a water vehicle....
I think Darwin predicted this would happen. Eventually.
I wonder if Elon Musk has watched any of your videos.
John Tran if he is watching other Tech TH-camrs's videos about Teslas (which he does) he probably stumbled upon Rich. That's how I found his channel
He's far too egalitarian to watch you tube about his cars
ok, he has a guy watch them for him and recite it verbatim
who do you think that was in the end of the video? Elon himself
He has a huge team of lawyers watch it for him.
why am I watching a guy power wash a moldy car? lol
Because Rich Rebuilds
Wow, I did not see that coming. Nice work and production quality as always Rich.
Niko Thieling i
Niko Thielin
Holy shit that's awesome... But watching you drawn the interior made me cringe so much! Unbelievable what this shit can put up with
Matt Carbonel, dude, the interior was already drowned... for 10 days, even.
Matthew Williams I KNOW! 😂 but still watching this my heart skipped a couple of beats!! Just by principle! (I have very strong principles lol)
no u stupid
theres a vid on youtub of a lady power washing the inside of here car. and this reminded me of that.. with this car no harm done as it was already under water.

renyn21 the Model S is pretty damn awesome. I have owned one for quite some time and it is a dream to drive. People who hate on them are often people who have no clue.
It did not work. They merely fed 12vdc into the 12v system and they got excited.
robert gardner well, yea, the electronics in the car worked.
Electronics are just silicon, metal, plastic and glass. If they aren’t shorted or corroded and they are dried out, they will work fine.
zollotech 10 days. Stfu hater, throw your Hyundai in some water and see happens.
not hating...I also don't own a hyundai
I can see Tesla fanboys from miles away.
Silicon?*
ElecDIY lol, just noticed that. That what happens when you use voice to text
Quick, someone tell Louis (Rossmann) that the new fix for a customer's broken Macbook Pro is to place it in a full bathtub, let it sit for 10 days, rinse it down with a power-washer, and then power it up! Revolutionary! :-P
You’re supposed to cover the distributor cap when you power wash
David H it is even not needed for ICE cars if engine after washing doesn't start same can happen driving in rain through puddles. It means distributor cap is already cracked.
Also the intake manifold. That got totally flooded.
It doesn't have a distributor cap. It's a Tesla.
pretty sure this car would've driven and everything if they didn't soak the spark plugs with water....
Everyone knows that pressure washing a vehicle has a chance of polluting the blinker fluid and causing the muffler belt to slip :P
I guess I wouldn't have washed the dashboard until after I tried powering it up, but apparently....
LOL, Dude the car was completely submerged for ten days. A power wash wont hurt anything.
WOW this guy is amazing. Ive been saying, this guy could start a franchise of Tesla rebuilds/repairs OR just have a comedy show on Netflix. Either way very talented.
What a nice surprise. Maybe now your wife might acknowledge your little show.
poobear Cretu lmao
poobear Cretu Little show!!! How do you think his wife buys everything inside the Mall. Oh she has known look at how many subscribers he has. This guy Banks.
Don’t be a jobber.
Iv'e never seen any car power washed in the interior, Yet alone a electronic laden Tesla..
You have some big balls my friend...
Keep up the good work..
The fact i know nothing about cars but this is exciting rebuilding this and all this other stuff is insane
"I'm being touched in my no no place!" best line in this video! 😂😂
I was dying when you said "what did you do is calling Tesla right now"
😂😂
Fantastic channel, Rich. Articulate, concise, to the point, informative - a rarity on this platform these days. Good job!
Even tho this is already a flood car I can’t tell you how hard I cringed when you power washed the inside
You killed it at the end. Great job.
In the middle of algebra one, saw that he uploaded. *clicks video with immense force and speed*
(Edit: Father rich, as a 14 y/o you are basically a god to me, because of you, i have convinced my dad to buy a Tesla model x)
Wow that is amazing keep doing what you doing man
What a ending lol awesome👍👍 it's incredible how that car powered up..
It will happen one day 🙄
i dont know why but i have such a big smile from watching you spray the interior of the car.
That Tesla was being touched on its No No place
This video is freaking awesome and I love that you back away in case the car blows up. Screw your friends, they shouldn't have been that close.
This channel makes me want to rebuild a model x. Great channel and funny content. Not “too” much clickbait hahah. I can dig it.
Is it just me that actually likes that color?
Sean Smith You are NOT alone. I like that color, too.
Same here, that colour is nice.
I like that color also.
Yeah...looks like my morning loo run after too much booze and cheese
Nobody likes the colour. It´s just a little different from the usual suspects, which makes you think you like it. But it is just as bureaucratic and grey as the current ones. Green, yellow or orange for me thanks. Also because they are not standard. ;)
This has officially become my favorite channel
It’s alive it’s alive!!!
Pressure wash the pass. compartment. You’re my hero !!!
I have used a leaf blower on my daughter’s car.
Fixing a flood car means spray water on all electronics under the hood and inside the car? Crazy!
Jon Smith, all of the electronics are going to be replaced. But it's much more pleasant to work on something, when it's not coated in nasty residue.
I love how the dog was even barking like hey hey he's doing this wrong out here..... lol
good ad for tesla.
not only were the battery packs fine, but the electronics too.
I call bs before he shows the ciruit boards. Water damage just doesn't brush off..
lol it actually does if its not salty water
Luka TO I think it got flooded by river water
rkan2 this is freshwater Not salt like the first car
Haha. That is awesome!!! I’m glad the car is in better shape than expected. I expect pulls using insane mode ASAP.
That ending..!! Hahaha Rich & Carl your vids are getting better and better! :)
Mold & stain remover= 2 gallon pump sprayer. Distilled water. Lysol liquid. Oxy Clean powder. In a separate container, mix well, zero clumps or granules. Pour into sprayer. Spray top down, thoroughly soaking. Let stand min 1 hour. Pressure wash off.
The pressure washer is probably what broke half of the dashboard.
I been watching Rich since I stumbled upon him while he was building Deloris. This video right here earns him my subscription AND I'm going to buy a Tesla. YOU CANT KILL A TESLA!
Pressure washing the electrical like that?
It was under water for 10 days. I doubt he’s going to do any worse damage by washing it.
Ninja Master I don't think electricity knows about water pressure
custom fabrications I've seen people damage their cars and houses with these.
It forces water in with pressure vs a brush with soft friction.
Ninja Master I've seen people rip the skin of their arms with them. You can cut metal with them if you're ambitious enough.
Now who’s going to have the balls to plug it into a live charging port
Wow. Amazing that the electronics work. Mind blown.
These videos keep getting better and better, love it man
Guess I gotta go pressure wash the inside of my Lexus now....NOT! Wicked awesome!
Holy crap..never been so excited by a youtube video...you the man rich..never stop!!
This is insane!!!!!
THIS IS SPARTA!!!!…. wait sorry that reference is too old by now.... THIS IS RICH REBUILDS!!!!….yeah... got it that time :D lol
exaccctleeeee
Excellent, can't stop laughing when you pressure wash the center console and It wakes up...Frankestein car..Crazy
OMG They caught Rich!
2:58 I love the reaction!!! aaaaaaahhh the dash works ! I love it
Am I the only one that expected this to work?
yes
No
optimusprimek maybe
optimusprimek I somewhat did, I mean all the important components are supposed to be watertight so I at least expected it to be able to limp
No I thought maybe it would drive
Wow the interior looks great after that wash.
It's really a testament to how you do everything I guess the forethought the planning all the preparation that you put into these builds
Crazy ending !!! Rich and the crew running at beast mode!!
Supercharge it
Wow. Just wow. I am *very* surprised that it booted up after all that! Color me impressed!
Notification squad where we at?
yessir
Hi, me
Shout out to my gang, gang gang. We lit then, was poping yo
That ending got me on the floor balled up in the fetal position LMAO hilarious man
i cant even afford a jump start!!! so lets leave it at that LOL
I just worked on the fuel system of my GT40 with a meat cleaver. Thanks for the tip. You da man Rich :-)
“Tesla build quality is shit” lol, these things will last through the apocalypse.
The best unexpected ending I have seen in a while!!! Keep up the good work!!!
I Bet Rich Wont Pin This 📌
Yeah he wont
lmao
Fail !?
And Rich walked right into your trap like a noob. It's obvious you posted this comment just to get attention. LOL
What was the bet?
You guys are really good at detailing
UNCLE RICHIE RICH!
That was the craziest thing I've ever seen. I thought the pressure washing was nuts. But when the car booted up, that was crazy.
Incredible -- worth the evil cliffhanger from the last video... Awesome, Rich.
3:20 -- "Hello David. I'm afraid I can't do that." Hahaha, great cameo !!
Didn't think your videos could get any better. I'm pleasantly surprised.
This channel is fantastic! Rich is a genius and seems like a good father.
Dam I can’t believe it’s alive! To be honest I didn’t think you’d ever get that car working again. You should leave it in a heated garage overnight to finish drying up.
THAT EPIC ENDING!!! MY GOD!! Hollywood Scene, BOOOOYYYSSS!!
There's some truth to the car giving off a bad vibe.. I've felt that terrible gut feeling on some of my worst projects... usually you can sense it immediately..
You have the best Tesla TH-cam channel
thank you, although we are not a TESLA channel
Carl true. I should say you have the best Tesla content
Okay, this is my favorite TH-cam channel now. Just put that battery back in and ride it, baby!
I JUST LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE very welcoming Big ups to you and your team mates
Now how do you purchase replacement parts....when there are no aftermarket parts provided by Tesla, and rarely parts available on ebay?
Fresh water floods are often not so bad compared to salt water. I have got totally submersed fresh water cars working again. Seat motors are the worst, cupe fan motors too. But they work again if you unstick them by turning the motor over with your fingers. Had this been salt water this Tesla would be bye-bye.
snoozinghipo was in hurricane water and sewage. So probably no salt, but still not exactly clean.
I was surprised most by the fact that a Dutch runner (Fanny Blankers) was a Google-doodle in the US.
Note to self test it before you jet wash perhaps the lcd behind the wheel would have worked as well
I guess James Bond submarine mode was activated before the flood! :)
Really nice!
I am beyond impressed! Now I want one even more.
It’s just not normal when I scream of happiness during a rebuild vid...
Wow, this is the coolest thing I've seen all day.
The IC screen was probably killed by the high pressure water...
I was wondering that when you said it had LTE. Isn't that on the previous owner, and a subscription based thing? Is it through the car dealer typically? Blows my mind that it was still on.
