Just curious, you mentioned that around 6pm you dropped your bags at the hotel - what did you do with them all day while you were walking around? Is there a place to store them for a fee?
We only had a backpack, so did not store it. But there are several lockers in Paris, where you can keep your luggage.

On the first day we have stated from the bus terminal on Porte Maillot and we have walked around 8-10km/ day.
