- There are only 4 players in NHL History who have scored the Michigan and today I am going to review each goal and place them in a tier list. This is something new that I want to do here so if you have ideas or topics you would like me to review in this format comment them below. UPDATE: Connor Bedard and Trevor Zegras just hit a Michigan the same day I posted this. Put Bedards in nasty and Zegras in Perfect! What strange timing on this video 😅

The crazy thing is, there's more to this than just the hand skill. Players like Svechnikov and Zegras are now a legit threat from behind the net, you _cannot_ allow them to hang out in Gretzky's old office. This has the potential to draw a defender or the goalie out of position and open up other players for a shot. That's what's so cool about the Zegras air pass to Milano.

I think they can keep doing these until defenders and keepers learn to defend against but this then opens up opportunities for team mates
but you can every time they score one they still lose the game
Sooner or later someone is going to anticipate this play and make a massive career ending clean hit. High risk play against certain opponents.

i was at the Ducks game where Zegras scored a Michigan goal but it got waived off later to be played offsides. It was a pretty nasty goal too

Goalies playing on their knees is why the Michigan is possible. Wayne Gretzky explained how goalies back in the day played the post tight because they were on their feet.(skates). Goalies today mostly play down and on their knees and sealing off the post high is near impossible. Tony Esposito on steroids these keepers are today.

Yeah if the puck (and assumably the stick blade in contact with the puck) stay below the crossbar you’re good, doesn’t matter where the shaft is

For your info. Some russian players (including datsyuk) were using my private lessons, trickshots, some other techniques, where I expect compensation for that, Still I hear nothing. I lived there, in Ural, but from 1991 I live in the USA.
Michigan shot did not originate in Michigan, I came to it in Ural (Datsyuk area) in 80's. Later someone gave that name. It was used in Les Pee Wee movie too.
I expect compensation, because it was a part of my private lessons. Else, it should not be used.
I contacted BBB for that.

The Foresberg should’ve been lower on the list in my opinion but only because he hit the side of the goalie first. Also Zegras’ second wasn’t as impressive because the entire net was empty. Other than that great list

@jimmyhockey you paused it perfectly.. you can see heel above crossbar as he released the puck.. Still 100% a dirty move but I have to say highsticking. Even Conor Bedard today should have probably been called highsticking it was very close
Umm.. no? Puck remains under the crossbar all the time.

@@RoyalMela it's not the puck that is the rule.. stick must be below the crossbar. Puck is on is blade and heel above crossbar.. it's highsticking
