She came to my school Friday. My friend sitting right next to me was crying and I almost cried but this is so inspirational. I’ve been praying for her and her family and she is super cool and funny. Her and her husband are the best in the world. I love you all so much!! So happy you’re alive to share the story with so many so they can be aware of these things.

I still remember when this happened. I was a freshman at a nearby university, and the accident happened on the same road that I used everyday to get to uni. I knew the guy that caused it. I had a class together with him in high school, and his sister was in the same grade as me, my grandparents went to the same church as their family. It's just so sad...I can't imagine losing my parents at the same time in such a way. I know they would be so proud of her and how far she's come. As for Todd, I'm sure he lives with the guilt every single day.

When I graduated from hell- i mean high school a classmate of mind got some terrible news. His dad and little sister had gone to another town to pick up both sets of grandparents.
On the way back they were behind a semi truck. Suddenly the truck swerved so dramatically it went off the road completely and crashed through a fence. But it was already too late for a reaction to save them when the reason for the truck's wild maneuver could be seen. My classmates sister, father, grandparents were all killed instantly along with the other driver (who it turned out was drunk). On top of that, the truck driver was absolutely destroyed by guilt. He started drinking, lost his job, and died a few years later, sleeping on the streets.
It pretty much destroyed graduation. The kid was quite popular and an extremely nice person.
I got bullied a lot, and even though I barely knew him, he stuck up for me several times.
God, I haven't thought of him in years. I hope he's doing okay. He'd be 49 or 50 by now. I hope he's doing okay.

I am sure I do not change every student, but I think that video is more effective than me preaching about how stupid it is (even though I do add about 6 personal stories I can share including a former student who killed herself while texting and driving and left a very young daughter without a mother). That's a horrible horrible unpunished crime. Jacy lost her parents and almost her own life. Survived to then be slapped again by an unjust judicial system. I agree with the hang up and drive law that needs to be a part of every state town county throughout the world. And strict fines, suspensions and jailtime should be mandatory punishment. To think that our society as intelligent as we are, could just allow lives lost over human stupidity is a crime in itself. I'm sorry for Jacys loss. Jacy I really hope you and other victims get the laws passed and justice for your losses. It's not fair it's unacceptable and dirty judicial bullshit to overlook any life lost due to driving distracted. It's just as bad as driving under an influence.

I’m so sorry about your parents and your injuries. You’re so right, it’s just not Okay. I was hit head on by a 75 year old man who had answered a call from his wife after leaving his daily afternoon club. He was drunk and it’s thought by his wife who testified he dropped the phone and he may have blacked out. She heard the horrific loud crash as he hit me traveling 62mph in a 20 mph zone. I was stopped, blinker on, waiting to make a left hand turn into my residential neighborhood. Literally 200 ft from entering my driveway. Brain injuries suck. Bless You for advocating. Much love to you.

In the state of Georgia since 2010, it's been illegal for drivers to text while driving or use social media while driving but you've been able to talk on your phone with the phone up to your ear in your hand. Now you can't do that anymore because nobody would comply with Georgia's ban on texting while driving. It was largely unenforceable. Drivers can only talk on their phones by using speakerphone, a smartwatch, or use the bluetooth system in their vehicle. New legislators and lawmakers have realized that distracted driving is killing our young people on the road. Driving is not the number one thing in the car anymore. You can touch the phone to answer or hang up a call. The only time you can hold your cell phone to your ear is if you are calling 911 to report an emergency, accident, or medical problem.

I just watched this video. I see so many people on their phones every day and it scares me so much! I go to work very early in the mornings, and it’s dark. People pass me doing over 90 mph, and I see their phones up in their faces. Why do they do that?? I have ear buds and Siri. I know most people do these days. USE THEM!!! This young lady is precious and so were her parents!! So sad that this senseless tragedy had to happen because someone wasn’t paying attention !!!! Get OFF your darn phones!!

  • @SteveWard151

I had my hand on the mouse ready to skip to a better video. Glad I continued watching cause this is the best video I have seen in a long time. What a terrific young lady. Talk about taking lemons and making lemonade. God gave you a new purpose. If I lived by her I would take her to dinner. I am a CDL-A holder myself and you would not believe the things I have seen. Cell phone use is just the start.. I have seen drivers with BOTH legs or feet on the dash texting and I have seen a driver having sex while driving down the highway. No Joke. It is mostly the younger ones, they just do not care. To the regular drivers, when I am pulling 40 tons (or 80,000 pounds) behind me it takes a lot longer to stop If you pull out in front of me and I T-bone you, chances are you will die and I will walk away unhurt.

I'm glad Australia is also addressing this with mobile use detection on roads.
One comment from a website says: "Distracted driving is just as dangerous as drink driving and taking your eyes off the road for more than two seconds while driving doubles your chances of being involved in an accident."
I was happy to see some American school drama reenactments on TH-cam and I hope the kids grow up with more memories of what can happen if they get distracted.

I agree 1000%. When a person is driving their eyes should be on the road, not on their phone 📱 I was actually rear ended by someone who was looking at his phone while driving, so I can relate. I had no injuries and my car had minimal damage thank God. Some people are killed because they cause an accident or their victims of someone else’s distraction. Fortunately this young lady survived and is raising awareness over this issue. I think there should be severe consequences for distracted drivers. Not just a fine, but that and having their license suspended IMO

I remember as a 15-year-old driver’s ed. student (an embarrassing number of years ago), our teacher, Mr. Sarina, drilling it into our heads that “DRIVING IS A FULL TIME JOB !” ... Now, the world’s population has practically doubled since 1973, and despite advances in safety, driving is still not all that safe anyway. Add crackphones to the mix and it’s probably not even as safe as way-back-when. Recently, a couple that my son knew (only married about a month) was killed in a head-on by a guy in a truck who crossed the line while picking out a song on...take a guess...We all need to be “in-the -moment and aware.

We really need to treat talking on the phone the same as drunk driving. The problem is, everybody does it, including the lawmakers who make the laws.

3:20 I don't think people like to stare. After all, most people don't enjoy being rude. I think it's a compulsion. One of those things you need to consciously resist doing.
Consider the fact that for millions of years our ancestors lived with predators all around. Threats that might (and often did) kill the unwary before they had passed on their genes to the next generation.
In most cases the predators were known well enough that their actions could usually be predicted based on what the predator was doing. So long as it wasn't hunting, they aren't a threat. They still had to watch, but they could usually relax.
Now bring in something new. Is the new thing dangerous? Watching the new thing closely was the only way this question could be answered.
Very often, some new thing WAS dangerous. Those creatures who didn't watch closely enough were killed.
On the flip side, something that is watching you closely (staring) might be hunting you, so we feel uneasy when being stared at.
In the modern day we no longer really need to worry about such things, but we still feel uncomfortable when stared at, so such behavior is now quite rude.
I lost my leg when I was 3 and when I'm not wearing my prosthesis people stare. I finally decided I really didn't care about it. Now I don't even notice the staring. I know they are staring, deep down, but I don't notice it consciously.

So sad.she lived for a reason. I know so many beautiful young female friends that did not make it. One I was going to marry. We were totally in love as soon as we met. One month later she was gone.

This is one reason why I'm voting for Tesla to solve Full Self Driving. It has the potential to prevent countless accidents.

We have driver on the road that have a remove license or no insurance because been in too many accidents, we need to have a way to keep not only distracted drivers but any drivers that can make lots of accidents due to just driving with out paying attention to the road.

This is so sad. Seeing these distracted driving videos has definitely changed how I drive! I think everyone should see these videos whenever they take their driver's license test. People need to change the use of cell phones in their vehicles. I've never been so worried about driving my whole entire life bc this is real and it is still happening 😢 💔
Just yesterday I was at a 4 way stop and seen a police officer goin through the intersection while on his cell phone!!! Now I see everyone on their phones and it worries the crap out of me. Nobody deserves to go through something so tragic and then the pain of losing someone on top of the physical pain u have to endure.
IT'S A CHOICE, PPL DON'T HAVE TO BE ON THEIR PHONE'S WHILE DRIVING!!! STOP USING CELL PHONE'S WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING!!! AND IF U DO USE YOUR CELL PHONE'S WHILE DRIVING THEN U SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF.... REALLY! WAKE UP!!! MAKE A DIFFERENCE, SET EXAMPLES RIGHT NOW FOR YOUR CHILDREN AND OTHER PASSENGERS AND SLOW DOWN!!! 💙💜❤️

Saw this and the other video where Jayce talked one on one with the teens about what happened to her. If these two videos were show in schools it would definitely decrease the amount of people who text and drive. This madness has to end.

I am so fortunate that after somebody hit me a year ago did not have the severity that she suffered however I did have a broken collarbone still suffering and all the left side of me is in pain everyday and I feel sorry for her you don't know what a broken collarbone is until you have one it's worse than giving birth to a baby the pain goes away after you deliver the child but with a broken collarbone the pain is for months and maybe even years

When I see this I call the police, but they NEVER EVER show up. I followed this woman for 20 miles, she left main highway, I followed advising 911 dispatcher the location. When the headon crash happen right in front of me....the police showed up 3 minutes after the collision but the damage was done. Both were seriously injured., but no fatalities thank God.
