I remember not being sure about this song at first, since it was one of my first times hearing a non-ballad song, but after listening a few times, I realized it became one of my favorite songs of his. Once I got it in my head that Dimash is singing pop/rock (and didn't compare it to the other 'typical' songs) I was more open to whatever new-genres he might add to his list. As for songs... I still say you should react to "Guests From Afar, Please Stay" by Dimash (part of a 6 person group) @ the Asian Cultural Carnival. See, this is where I wish DImash would say WHY he is writing songs this way. It would avoid speculation. I think he is testing these numbers and gauging them by the reactions of the audience. He definitely is getting away from sad songs for a bit. I think he is mainly writing these songs to give his voice a break in concerts. Singing ALL high numbers are starting to be hard on his vocal chords. I wish I knew if either of my guesses are correct.
@Jackie B I don’t think he is having difficulty with high notes. Dimash wasn’t doing solo concerts before. He can’t do over 20 songs in a row that are vocally demanding. Also as much as I wish it were not true songs like The Love of Tired Swans won’t be played on most radio stations. Especially in the western market. He needs some songs like this. My guess is 95% of his music will be crossover and about 5% will be pop and radio type songs.

What I know is sometimes an artist gets pulled in many different directions in their early careers.. the artist starts to feel very conflicted this may very well happen to Dimash , at some point . But knowing Dimash, he in the end does what ultimate ly is best for him. It's hard to tell which direction he eventually want to go .. maybe we get a better idea when his first album comes out . It may be a good indicator as to what direction he is pursuing But direction is important. And I do hope he will take risks that will pay off and have a positive outcome ..
