Hey, since we wish to check whether the independent variable has any effect or not. The only way to do this is to administer the real independent variable to actual group and a false one (placebo) to control group. It will help us to check whether there is any effect of independent variable or not, via seeing differences btw. the 2 groups. I hope it is clear👍
Yes, so it's about which group can receive placebo treatment (false treatment, not the actual Independent Variable- IV). Since an experimental group is the one which receives the actual IV, and control group just acts as a comparison group, hence control group may receive a placebo treatment. Hope it helps! 📚
