It has been astutely observed by a sage individual that, 'Reading is not merely a leisurely pursuit, but a profound investment in the cognitive framework of one's mind. With each successive page, novel perspectives emerge, innovative ideas germinate, and the parameters of one's potential undergo expansion. It is essential to engage in extensive, in-depth, and frequent reading, for it is within the pages of a book that lies the transformative power to reimagine one's existence and redefine one's destiny.'

The CBD is definitely a book paradise; I collect Dan Brown books at a very reasonable price from many of the street vendors. 'Readers don't steal, and stealers don't read.'

    Growing up
I used to walk through those streets and would buy magazines and books, especially as I went to catch a train from school. Beautiful memories

I'm an avid reader and when I pass Jozi, i see informal traders selling books, usually in the taxi going home so i can't go out to buy. Next time i am there, i will be on the lookout for these places.

I Know these guys, James, Griffin, John & Geoff Klass, great to see there getting some recognition! There is a bookish world out there in the CBD and these can show that.

GQ (PE) main library also closed for years. Disgusting, but we want the nation to be educated and battle to create work..

All we ask of JHB Government now, is to keep that area save and much cleaner, then more and much more small businesses will move in, coffeehouses, pubs, restaurants, boutiques and antique stores....but hey, they're more concerned over who's the Major than assisting us

Yes I see the books but how many of these are even African literature writers and books?
Often when I visit these books stores as a PhD in African literature, no matter how cheap the books are, I am left to leave with nothing coz they all sell either white European literature or South African white literature that does not speak to black people’s experiences accross the globe.
