- Happy New Year! The holidays are over, and man were they cold here! Temps were as low as -25C at night, and -18C mid day on a warm day. Not much to do other than keep warm and hunker down. Once the cold snap was over, we were hit hard with tons of snow!! FRESH POW. Join me for some fun in the snow, ATV, snow blowing with the bobcat, shovelling, updates on the log bench I built, and I build a simple rustic ski rack (ft freehand chainsawing). The joys and challenges of winter!

Delightful Michy! As I say to people here in New Zealand, "we don't know what it's like to live with large 6 foot dumps of snow", even though we have huge mountains and many ski fields (that I used to ski at in a previous century!). Our temperatures are just too mild and too close to the sea and we're far too small. Our hilly cities shut down and kids stay home from school with a couple of inches on the ground! - I say "Canadians would laugh their heads off and shake their heads in disbelief at our "fragility to snow!"
That ski rack rocks! Gotta love diesel powered machinery and all their many accessory clip-ons. Having your own tree covered ski-trails is just sublime! David ⛷🐈🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🌲🍷❄☃

In the winter we park our track equipment on timbers . On a Bobcat 4 inch or 6 inch or so is enough. Helps keep it from sticking to the ground. I've seen drive housings and engine couplings break from track equipment being stuck to the ground.For 40 years never watched TV. Now when I can I watch TH-cam. Yours is one I find the time to watch.
Thanks John! Yes a few people have suggested elevating the machine a bit with either old tires, or blocks of wood. Definitely a good idea!!

Use a "grain shovel." It is a lot lighter, you can sharpen the front edge to cut through crusty, icy snow, and it lasts forever.
I think that's awesome that Steve goes overseas and volunteers to help the less fortunate. Yah bless him and keep him safe.
The work he does is truly amazing. 💝
Looks like heaven on earth. If you need a hand with the chores I'll drive over. I'm in Ireland, not too far. No calendar thanks, you know what we all want. Don't ruin the dream. Just keep on keepin' on.

Y’all have a winter wonderland. I have got to come stay up north someday for an extended time. We don’t get much snow in South Texas. That has advantages at times, but I want to experience a real winter. I enjoy watching your adventures in the meantime.

Michelle, what ever you do don't get up on your roof. Get a roof rake or build something to get the snow off. Don't want to hear that person fell off their roof and were not found for days or weeks because they were the only one home. Your dogs don't have the ability to call for help.... Loved the ride down the stairs.
I came across your channel by pure accident. I live in a little sea shore resort at the southern end of NJ . I have hopes of one day living in Maine off grid and watching you just reassures me that it is possible. I spent 30 years in the FD retired Asst Chief you being a nurse I’m sure being out in the woods at home is a welcoming adventure from what you may see and do in your profession as it is for me . Snow. It looks so romantic, so pretty, so much fun. But of course it's cold, wet, potentially dangerous and just so much work! I enjoy watching your videos (I can revel in the fantasy snow invokes) but never ask me to live in the stuff. The time before last I was in Canada, it was snowing and minus 12. Love the memories you stir up of this trip as I sip on a cold beer in the heat. Love your work!

Tractor with a 48 " snowblower attachment would be ideal in your situation of course the tractor has a heated compartment and many halogen lights

You have amazing skill with the chain saw.
For the bench: 55 degrees would read as 35 degrees with a speed square or indexed saw (miter or table, etc.) The reason is the angle 0 is perpendicular to the face or edge within most carpentry tools. Similarly, if the measured angle is 60, it would be 30 degrees by the tool (90 minus the observed angle).
I totally suck at all that stuff! Clearly! 😂. Thanks for clarifying that, and hope others read this! 🤪🤷🏻♀️

Wow all that snow is so beautiful. I remember those days back in the 60's & 70's when I lived in Northern Pennsylvania and we use to geothermal huge snows from the snow belt off of Lake Erie.
It was a manufacturer ilof alot of deep snows back in them days..they don't get those lake affect snows much at all anymore up there.i moved to western north carolina in 1987 and we never get much snow at all down here.heck I use to golf all through the winter months down here.

You're always so entertaining to watch, Michelle(lil gerbil,lol), and very creative in finding a way to get things done. We had about three inches of snow the other day in Northern Kentucky, and people were crashing into things, and each other, all over the place...crazy drivers who don't know what slow down on slick roads means. I think you all need an enclosed pole barn, that you can heat, to store some of the equipment, so that is one less thing you all have to struggle with in the Winter...but know money doesn't grow on trees. Y'all stay safe and warm up there in your Winter Wonderland!
