Marathon vs. Triathlon | Which Is Harder?

Last weekend. Did a half marathon Saturday and a sprint triathlon the Sunday. So a fair direct comparison. The change from one to the other gives you a change, and a change is as good as a rest. Finished the triathlon 35 minutes faster than the half marathon and enjoyed both.

I think triathlons is harder than Marathon. That is my opinion, if you love swimming and riding your bike you will enjoy both. Training for triathlon you need more stuff…..

I agree with you. The only realistic comparison would be Ironman 70.3 vs Marathon.

Marathon at a decent goal pace is much harder than even a 70.3 under 5hrs. In my experience.

Anything involving swimming is infinitely harder than any run. Nothing is more frustrating than swimming.

Did my first marathon last week and signed up for my first Olympic triathlon for july 14. Dont have any swimming experience so lets see how it goes haha

You might find a 8-week Olympic triathlon plan can help you progress your swims (and rides) to the required distance for your triathlon. Sounds like the run won't be an issue! Good luck and have fun.
