I believe Ariana really enjoys singing with other sopranos. She has so much fun singing with people that can keep up with her so she doesn’t have to do all of the work.

agreed, because Ariana can go all out without being blamed as a show-off or intentionally drowning her duet. She loves someone who she can have a friendly play with by Vocals and technicalities. It's more fun for her. like for example, she always sings off with Liz Gillies.
Kelly is also GREAT at harmonies, and complimenting anyone she sings with. These 2 absolutely slayed this performance!

My only gripe with her is her diction and lack of power. It sounds soft. Even tori kelly who is amazing has a soft voice with lack of power. Most of the powerful female voices have a volume and bass like

@@jaydel3 her lack of diction is just a stylistic choice . She’s Broadway classically trained. Her enunciation is stellar for Broadway performances. And she’s been serving power these last few performances especially the respect performance on The Voice.

I love Ari’s tone. It’s so light, warm, & airy. It’s so clean & clear. I also love Kelly, her voice is beefy & powerful. Both phenomenal singers. Ari’s runs are the best in the industry right now. Tori Kelly is right up there too.
I love Ariana, but Jazmine Sullivan definitely has the best runs in the industry. Ariana’s for sure top 10 at

I love this duet and both of them can sang their behinds off! I love Ariana’s runs and high notes. I’m a huge KC fan, but I do wish that she would show off more of her abilities! Like she can do runs, whistle notes, has a ton of soul, etc. and I understand that she doesn’t want to rely on or use these things all the time (she doesn’t need to). It would be nice to hear her show them off more than she does though. There are people that don’t even know that she can do those things with ease. Her tone, versatility, belts, vibrato, transitions, falsetto, ability to emote, etc. are top tier for me! 😊💚
The pairing of these two is magnificent. These ladies can both blow.

Yes! I have no idea whether it was accidental or not but I actually like it more than the studio version! Both are great though.

Kelly - One thing that stands out about Kelly's voice is that, for a surprisingly small & bright voice she really knows how to thrust it forward into a full and powerful tone. To my ear Kelly has an extremely developed singers formant and squillo. It really shows how much classical technique that allow the voice to ring and project. She also has near perfect vowel negotiation imo.
Ariana - She has a very, interesting technique. She seems to keep a LOT of space in the mouth which leads to more jaw tension and pronunciation issue with vowels. She reminds me of Anita Baker or Toni Braxton but as a very high soprano. I think she's also great but I'd LOVE to see her improve on these because they seem like the only thing stopping her from going from a "great" singer to a "legend". I can't tell if she does this pronunciation thing and jaw tension on purpose or not so don't come for me yall!
It’s on purpose. It’s a stylistic choice. And she’s already a great singer. I know people are comparing, because that’s only natural. And I’m not trying to say she beats Kelly Clarkson (although I definitely prefer Ariana’s tone to Kelly’s, personally), but Ariana is still a beast. Sure she has flaws, but so does every great vocalist. I don’t think that means people should downplay her talent. She’s too incredible at what she does, for that.
@@AGEE_95 This is a learning channel, not a fan forum. The literal point is to nitpick and learn... If you want a forum where Ariana won't be 'downplayed' there are plenty of fan channels you can browse.
Also you were quick to pawn off Ariana's habits as stylistic rather than habitual. Could you share how you came to that conclusion? And further, isn't an unhealthy habit still bad if it's a choice?
Ariana's jaw & tongue tension were visible and audible. It basically runs contrary to every teachers advice... I would also note that, jaw and tongue tension, and a bunch of space in the mouth aren't required to sing with bad pronunciation lol, so I tend to think she's doing it habitually.
It sounds like instead of making this about singing you made it about Ariana. I think this should be about the singing.
@@Sloppyjoey1 I made it about the fact that you made it seem as if, her having flaws discounts her actual talent. You can critique an artist, without downplaying how great they are as a whole. Flaws or not, she is still great. One of the best of this generation, in fact. Kelly has flaws, and she’s still great. People make a habit of making Ariana out to be some amateur, just because she has some things about her that they may not like, or they think are poor choices. Which, by the way, not all vocal coaches agree about her tension, or that her stylistic choices are wrong, but that’s beside the point.
I feel like was pretty fair to your comment. I wasn’t saying you were wrong, or that your opinion was invalid. But there are some things I respectfully disagreed with. That’s also part of this comment section. People will disagree with you and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean they are saying an artist can’t be critiqued at all.
I don’t think Ariana has actual issues with pronunciation. When she’s singing a genre, like Broadway music, her pronunciation is on point because she understands that clearly singing the words in that genre, is a requirement. When she sings pop and rnb music, she loosens her diction. It’s basically like cursive singing. That is a style of singing that she chooses for those genres. It’s actually very common, too. So I’m not pawning anything off. I’m speaking based on what I’ve actually heard of her singing.

Literally the only thing I said that could even be taken as a negative was that she has space in the mouth and a pronunciation issue which is something you're admitting she does on purpose lol. It's your right to think it's stylistic.. but where I'm from, style can also be improved so it'd be irrelevant unless you're saying her pronunciation is perfect.
I understand that comments = disagreement but you are seriously reaching imo. I said the girl was almost a legend and you turned that into me "downplaying" her because I thought there was a single thing she could improve... I was pretty reasonable imo

I disagree about the warmth between their voice. I hear more warmth in Kelly's voice or maybe it is a richer tone. Kelly's voice has gotten more shimmer at this point in her life and it is gorgeous.
Ariana might have a lighter tone, but it still has warmth to it. Not mention so much color.
It's a different type of warm. Ariana's is light, like a soft cuddle, Kelly's is heavy and more like a mama bear's hug 😂

The thing with modern white singers is I cant quite feel them for some reason, sure they can emulate with range and technical ability but there is something I cant quite put my hand on. Now Michael Bolton that man has some pipes on him & Bobby Caldwall had everyone fooled and Micheal Mcdonald. But these modern guys sound like they are trying too hard.
