Fun fact: Robin Shou, aka Liu Kang, actually fractured a couple ribs in his fight with reptile. The take he fractured his ribs is the one they used in the movie. Also the Mortal Kombat movie is the reason why Kano is an Australian in cannon.
this movie's version of hell is so weird like i can understand the lighting but who thought of all the flimsy looking stick bridges and stuff to be placed everywhere
It looks like The Gutter in Dark Souls 2, only lit brighter... ask anyone whose first experience of the Gutter was in the week of the game's release for any other way to describe that area...
I just refuse to dedicate what few brain cells I have to that movie. Hell showing the trailer got this whole video copyright claimed so I'm pretty sick of the new movie already lmao.
In other news: No, Jon Leguizamo and Bob Hoskins were very heavily drunk on the set of the Mario Bros. movie, as the directors kept disagreeing with each other, and then subsequently replaced with new sets of directors, and then of course, Nintendo would step in and try to reign in the movie hard, and their vision was also different from what the directors wanted, so, Bob and John at the very least, and likely Dennis Hopper stopped bothering to learn their parts for the day, as there would be last minute script 'updates' daily, and Bob and Jon got drunk all the time.
Apparently the cgi in the 2nd mortal kombat is so bad because it's rushed. Damn not even in the 90s are cgi artists allowed to work, just look at what happened to the scorpion king.
I saw the comment and my heart got sad but then I remembered you told me you were going to do this. I need to get more sleep my brain cell is firing at half capacity.
Christopher Lambert was a great Raiden, he really made the character so fun to watch. I dunno who the second guy was, though. I never understood why he completely changed his entire look halfway through. Is it supposed to be like a visual representation of his revoking of his immortality to be a human???
@@HauntLich Woooooow. What a brilliant move on his part, haha. That just further solidifies how little anyone in this production cared about that movie.
I always forget Reptile was even in this movie. My brain just will not allow me to remember it. I'll probably forget about this 20 minutes after watching this video.
Hey this movie might've given us shitty CG Reptile but it also gave us proper green ninja Reptile in a decent fight. More than I can say for the new movie and recent games. What they got against my green boy where's he's gotta be a jobber at all times and doesn't even get to be the coolest looking ninja anymore?
@@HauntLich Saddest part is the new movie gave Scorpion and Sub-Zero some pretty solid fight scenes but reduced Reptile to a lizard that could turn invisible. They could've done so much with ninja Reptile using that ability to actually fight like a ninja or something, saved the lizard form for him getting pissed and just going savage on them. He's already dead so we aren't getting ninja Reptile in any possible sequels, unless they retcon that to being a random Zatteran. Would actually be pretty happy if they did that. I get that Sub and Scorpion are the icons but Reptile is the original fighting game secret character. He deserves as much respect as they do instead of being a jobber in every appearance. He's supposed to be Tsung's secret bodyguard, why not actually portray him like a proper sub boss before the big bad for once?
I honestly get the feeling that reptile wasn't in the film originally but was added in later for whatever reason and decided that using a horrible cgi was was the best option to use instead of just having the actor in a costume the whole time.
@@26th_Primarch Reptile being a last minute addition makes a lot of sense. Not only because of the CG, but by the time production was wrapping up, they probably had a much better understanding of fight choreography, resulting in his fight scene being way better.
@@26th_Primarch That wouldn't surprise me with the conflicting quality of his two versions in the movie. If so, it makes it even funnier that this movie's version of Reptile might be the most respect he's been shown since the original game. This movie not just gave him a good fight but actually kept him for a late fight instead of jobbing out early, put him in the proper role as Tsung's hidden bodyguard, portrayed him as a serious threat and tried to do justice to him as both a lizard and a ninja. They did a shit job with the lizard part but they did everything else about him so right, I think movie Reptile should be like movie Kano, being what the games try to emulate.
I just got to the end. I do want to see the new Mortal Kombat movie. I am concerned about the lack of Johnny Cage though. Hes toward the bottom of the list for favorites. He's important to the story though and I respect that. However, I feel like I've seen the first MK story enough times that it would be ind of hard to stay engaged when I know how things will happen.
I feel like if you have to change the story because everyone knows it then it's not really a mortal kombat movie. Besides, mortal kombat has been updated so much since the first movie, there are a lot of characters they could've followed and stories they could've told while staying faithful to the source material. I just see this being another unfaithful adaptation of things I like, like the monster hunter movie, so I'm just gonna skip it.
