I’ve been an admirer of you and your yarn for awhile but I also pause due to shipping and conversions (Australia). I’ve had a hiatus of yarn and knitting this past year due to new house and Reno’s. Your yarn and projects you shows just made me excited for knitting again. The jumper colours, blue and pale colours are dreamy. Then the wedge wood, swoon. OMG. Please. I want to snap them all up! 🇦🇺🌺
Hi Leslie. I used to over-pack all the time. It was a huge hassle when traveling to Europe, lugging around a carry on, my purse or tote, and a large suitcase. Last year for both our trips Paris and latter to Berlin, I managed only a carry on! I was so proud of myself for packing lightly. Like you, I chose a color palette, and stuck with it; not an easy task for a gal who loves to drape herself in wild colors. Love the baby bomber - so cute.
Ha! I can see where that would be difficult for you! But yes... there is something just so freeing about not being lugged down with too much stuff! Happy knitting sweet friend! xx
Just found your podcast a few weeks ago and have been binge watching! So informative I’ll probably be rewatching a few episodes because you give so much great information. Thank you!
Starry Night turned out lovely. Frog the cream sweater and use it for something it works for the way it is. That's the only way to pack. I've sworn by it for years. Happy New Year !
Ohh, I‘m so glad you were in Berlin the snowy week! I‘m based in Berlin, LaLaine is s charming little store ❤. We had a beautiful 10 days of snow on the ground and everything was magical. So nice you could enjoy it, and lovely your husband takes an active (or at least very tolerant 😂) part in your love for yarn. Happy New Year!!🎉
The Big Birdie Sweater - frog and use the yarn for yourself on another project. If your husband loves the yarn, buy the color he loves and make him a different sweater in it. And thanks for the packing tips! I struggle with it!!!
The Starry Sweater looks great on you. Frog the other sweater and knit something new for hubby in a color of his choosing. A blessed Christmas to you and your knitting tribe 🎄
I'm just working my way through all of your podcasts. They are SO great. And just to mention I think you are a very stylish lady. I would love to try and keep a casual wardrobe. Love your FABULOUS knitting ~ Kate (UK) xx
So great to see you and your gorgeous projects!!! I would frog the Big Birdie sweater and make it in the right size for you. You have too many misgivings with giving it to your husband. The style will bother you everytime he puts it on. Yes, Gina can dye it, but the natural is really lovely and so in your wheelhouse. In addition, Big Birdie is a splurge. Put the splurge on your back! For your husband, I would suggest a sweater in Knitting for Olive's Heavy Merino. Knitting for Olive's yarn is wonderful. I am knitting the Arctic Light in Heavy Merino and the stitch definition with all those cables is fabulous!!!! The price point for this yarn is really wonderful as well. Have a wonderful holiday season!!!!
Dear friend Leslie, again you were around the corner from me and yet so far away that we couldn't get to know each other in person. Winterberg is in the middle of Germany and maybe we can manage a meeting at some point. Thanks to modern technology like TH-cam, you have the feeling that you already know each other well. When I was at school I had a pen pal in the USA. We used very light paper because airmail was weighed and was quite expensive. Memories... You look dazzling in the star sweater. It's always a pleasure to see you beaming with your beautiful knitted clothes. Since you asked for our opinion on the oversized sweater, I would take a deep breath and unravel it. I don't find the shape very masculine. You will be relieved after rubbing :--)) At least that's how it always feels for me. I wish you and your family a particularly merry Christmas. Things CAN only be fun with your likeable husband. Please greet him unknown to me. Your knitting friend Heike
Your enthusiasm for knitting and fiber is just so great! I so enjoyed this video, Leslie! I am excited about your new pattern. I am on my 8th Friend to Friend shrug! They make terrific gifts! Thank you so much!!!♥️💚
I enjoy your videos so much thank you! Also I'm with you on being a carry on girl. I also love traveling through Europe and a carry on is the only way to do it regardless how long you are staying. On my long stays I wash. I love love your vest and can't wait for the pattern. I see it being such a classic staple piece. Germany is amazing and yes they have so many yarn stores and that craft store is incredible. I really love the pattern for the slipover thats in german. Thanks again! Happy Holidays and Happy Knitting.
I so appreciate you walking us through your Starry Starry Night! I had to put mine on hold to test knit Beth's Rhumb Line. Test knitting is something I've never done before and it was so fun! Your thoughts on Starry Night will be so helpful when I get back to it. Thank you! And the packing tutorial was wonderful!
Loved the packing segment and the notes to look back on. Can’t believe how much you get in a carry on bag. And oh yes, the knitting you share is so inspiring to me.
You knitted the Starry Night into perfection! I always admire this quality in all your work! I got a couple of your patterns on the hopes I can replicate to myself!🤞thank you so much for sharing your projects with us❤
Love the piece you are wearing. I would start over on that sweater. Your instincts are good in that the sweater on your husband has a little issue…. You will always view this in that way. ? You love the yarn and the gauge is a quick knit. Will look to see what choice you make ( either way a good one as the yarn will go to good wearing). Enjoy your holidays! Thank you for today.
Forgot to say… Solid yes to travel out of a carry on while travel to Europe. The management of your packing/outfits I do as well…. I try everything on… write it down and I as well record temperature of the days that are forecasted. My major issue has been my running gear if I was training for a race….. I used to tie my running shoes to my luggage , never had an issue. But the extra gear did take up some space. I am a skirt and dress gal and even in winter my tights /boots I find ( for me) are way warmer than pants. I agree if train or bus transfers etc…. These bags one can manage well. I never had my husband deal with mine as he has his own. Now that we do some travel to a warmer climate in winter and he takes his golf clubs…. I get away with checking my bag. Lazy on my part really. Love hearing about your trips.
The linen quill in kettle black looks amazing with white colorwork! I love how the stars accent the little flecks of linen. For the birdie sweater--I would put it in a big time out then frog it, lol. In a few months it will feel like you just got done shopping for a new luxurious yarn!
Oh Leslie your Starry Night sweater is amazing on you, love the neutral colors. So Classy!! Love your Hello Friend vest, can't wait for that one. All your gorgeous knits, so fun to see. Thanks for the packing tips, also the craft store in Germany link. Merry Christmas knitting friend. 🎄🤗
Leslie, I agree with everyone who recommended frogging the Lyon sweater. I’ve never worked with Big Birdie but from the reviews I think it’s too special of a yarn to make something you are not completely happy with. Also, I have your mother’s recipe you shared a couple years ago for Mexican wedding cakes (I think that’s the name) and I can’t wait to make them and taste them again. Happy Holidays🎄🧶
You are always so sweet and humble with your knits and your presentation. I love your Starry Starry Night sweater. I may have to make that one for next year. I would personally frog the Big Birdie sweater and redo it for yourself. Thank you for your packing tips. I can't get everything in a carry on, but I have definitely downsized what I take when traveling. It's all the toiletries and extras that take up space for me! I would have loved to hear about the Christmas markets!! Have a most blessed holiday!
Thank you, Leslie for sharing yourself, your knitting and travels, too! I always enjoy watching your podcasts. I just finished my first Friend to Friend and it fits perfectly. I will be making more! I say frog the sweater. I don’t think the fabric for a man is appropriate and having to dye it is another step to make it right. Happy knitting and have a wonderful holiday season.
It’s always soooo fun to see you here. I’m starting g another friend to friend tomorrow … this time for me !!! I deserve it right ? Thanks for another great episode 💖🎄🎅🏼
Happy to see another episode. Your knits are always inspiring and I’m looking forward to your vest pattern. I live in aclimate where full on sweaters don’t work for me but a vest is something that could especially made in a linen blend. Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy holiday. Hope you got the 2 Friend to Friend completed. My vote is frog the sweater and find a different pattern.
You've been to Berlin, how great is that. I used to go to La Laine all the time. Must go there again. And I'll try 'Idee', I've never checked their wool department and their knit magazines. You had to come to point that out to me and I live in Berlin 😄
I was so excited when I switched on TH-cam and saw your face! Another great episode that had me smiling all the way through. I don’t read books in bed but I do drift off to sleep dreaming of knits and colours and yarn 🤭 That baby bomber jacket is adorable. I’m a good carry-on traveler myself. Hubby hates waiting for luggage so if we can we travel light. Thanks for the fun and wishing you a fun and festive Christmas 🥰😘
Thank you for this podcast. Always so much fun so see your work. And your adventures while travelling! Happy holidays Leslie! I wish you some wonderful time with those you love ! And happy knitting! Love, Elise
Hi Leslie! Yay - my Thursday morning knitting friend to knit with! Ok, my .02 is - finish that sweater with a manly flourish, send it to your friend who would die for the love of dying the sweater for you, and give it to your man for Christmas, and then give him a bear hug to go along with it. Then (or now), order another batch of same yarn; repeat. Merry Christmas to you - Libby in utah
Hi Leslie, Thanks for another enjoyable episode. I’m also participating in the Violeta KAL. I'm knitting mine bottom up. What a lucky baby who receive that darling jacket.
Thanks for sharing your packing list. I recently went to Portugal for two weeks and only took carry on as well. Your tips will be helpful😀. Love your Starry Starry Night sweater!
Hi Leslie - I am a new friend - I just found you this year. I've really enjoyed the inspiration and information about patterns, yarn, packing and more!! Thanks for all that, friend. LoisfromMass
Leslie!!! That starry jumper is just so gorgeous. ❤❤❤ I loved this chat. Everything you showed and discussed you did with such passion 😊Such lovely knits and patterns. You really inspire the knitting choices I make. Merry Xmas.
Leslie, thank you so much. Great to see you again. Lovely projects and the packing overview and images again -very helpful. Happy Christmas and everything wonderful in 2024. Regards, Roxanne.
Looking gorgeous in your Starry Starry Night Sweater. Thank you so much again for test knitting this. It’s perfect on you. Love hearing all about your knits and ideas - super inspiring. Also your travel/packing suggestions were excellent and perfectly timed - I’m doing the same for a quick trip to Toronto. Thanks again & Merry Christmas!❤
Love your podcasts, Leslie! I would frog the too big / lamb & kid yarn, and start over on a sweater for yourself. The little bomber jacket is adorable!!
Thank you for making this podcast- always a delight to watch! I enjoyed your packing tips as I also only travel with my carryon and the bags. it is always good to get more tips on how others make it work! Merry Christmas!
Welcome Back! And I have a tip about the pattern translation. If you scan it, (via app on phone) and then use an AI app (also on phone) you can translate other languages. I believe it will manage knitting patterns, especially those that you showed, as they aren't too long and charted. Merry Christmas!
You are looking beautiful, dear Leslie Friend. Loved this episode as I haven't been keeping up with my podcasts and videos. Suffice it to say, you inspired me with loads of ideas. Best to you and yours for a joyous holiday season. Merry, merry Christmas! Coming to VKL in January, perhaps? hope so. ❤
Happy to see you again and boy you have been busy, busy!! Absolutely love your Friend to Friend Vest. The simplicity is what I have been looking for in a vest and I already bought the yarn this past fall hoping to stumble across a vest pattern. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!!!! ❤Kathy from Massachusetts
Another great podcast! Thank you for the packing segment, will take your notes for my next trip! The Starry Starry Night is beautiful! I ordered the linen quill after seeing your Daily Pullovers, but may have to veer off to the "Starry" now😜 Looking forward to your next episode, Merry Christmas!
Hello friend, pea from fifty fabulous knits has talked about your friend to friend shrug, I am gonna have to get it, yours and hers are so beautiful, happy holidays friend
Enjoyed hearing about your trip! And I love the Starry Starry Night sweater. But I wanted to tell you I've done 4 Friend to Friend Shrugs for Christmas gifts. I've already gifted 2 of them and they were a HUGE hit. One friend wore hers the next day to a Christmas tea. She sent me a photo and she looked so cute! So thank you for that pattern and I can't wait for your vest pattern!
Oh Kim! That makes me so happy!!! I’ve decided to button down and get going on the two I need to have finished by Monday! You inspired me! Thank you! 😍❤️💚🧑🏻🎄
@@LeslieFriend it's a great pattern and just perfect to give to girlfriends. I made up a little poem and wrote it on tags that I attached to the shrugs. "This Friend to Friend Shrug is from me to you. It feels like a hug when you're feeling blue. And when winter winds chill the air, snuggle in this and know I care". So again thank you for such a great pattern☺️
I’m traveling to Germany in June! I’ll be in Dresden so thanks for the tip. Welcome back! Love seeing all your FO’s and can’t wait for the vest pattern.
Watching you and several other other podcasters pushes me to move forward in my Knitting journey and stop making things that are “just easy”. I have made four sweaters since February this year, and it’s the first time I’ve ever made sweaters for myself. (I spent years making baby clothes, scarves and hats and shawls.). I even made two of your Friend shawls for myself and enjoy them both for around the house in the mornings or in the late evenings when I just need a little something something. Thank you for the work that you put in to make these videos for us to enjoy, my friend
Frog it and make it for you. If he likes the yarn order it in the color he likes and make a sweater he likes. Love the sweater you are wearing. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
Thank you for all the packing tips! Such a valuable tool! So enjoyed this podcast, love your pattern and yarn choices, I’m a neutral person at heart! Your Starry night sweater looked beautiful on you! Happy Holidays!
Leslie what a fantastic episode in every way!! Thank you for sharing all your travels and inspiring ideas. (I vote for frogging and remaking something different that you will love…your hubby will be busy adoring his scarf) 💫 Happiest of Holidays to you 🎄
Working on my last/sixth friend to friend for xmas gifts , boy are they addictive and I went from really simple to really fancy by the sixth one☺️. Pics to follow after they are all blocked and ready to go into gift boxes. Thanks again for the inspiration, i hope the recipients love them as much as I loved knitting them. I also just succumbed to knitting for Olive yarn. I watched fruity knitting and they had a coupon code for patrons and I really couldn’t believe how easy it was to buy direct from the knitting for olive online shop and the kit was delivered here to Victoria, very quickly. I bought the lovely light taupe coloured merino and mohair combo. I love your colour choice. I don’t think there was a selection that I didn’t like they were all so beautiful. I was really hoping you would post some Christmas market pictures, it has been a dream of mine to take a river cruise thru Germany and do the markets all along the way. I hope they were fun and beautiful and the shopping was good for you and your husband. Merry, merry happy and healthy christmas!
I enjoyed knitting with you this morning. I love your style, and can’t wait to cast o my first Friend to Friend. Your packing segment was so inspirational for me! I will be traveling quite a bit in the next few months and can’t wait to pack!
Love your podcast so much! Love being inspired by your knits and your travel finds. I ran into a similar issue knitting a sweater for my father, I went for a similar color in Rowan Tweed and it was indeed too light of a color so I ended up unraveling and using the yarn for something else. Better to feel good about the knit in the end is my thought!
So great to see you! Thank you for a wonderful podcast - so many inspiring things. I loved the packing tips. I ALWAYS over pack. So looking forward to that vest pattern. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Hi Lesley, I think I would frog it because it does look a bit girly for your lovely husband. Promise him another sweater l after on out of that lovely German book. Blessings Gail.🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
Hi Leslie. I’m always so excited when I see that you’ve posted a new podcast. I’m working on some hats for gifts while I watch. I need to email you with an idea I have running through my head. Until then, merry Christmas my sweet friend. ❤
Funny - I had to frog my sweater in big birdie, too! It was huge!!! Not sure what I am going to make with it now. Let me know if you come up with something.
I'm the queen of ripping out entire sweaters (of fingering weight yarn) to get the fit I want, so that's my recommendation for Lyon. In the time it would take you to pack it, ship it to Gina, have her dye it and return it, you could have ripped and reknit (it'll go fast at that weight/needle size!) And you don't even know if Steve will like the finished piece or even wear it. I remember the first time my husband encouraged me to rip back sleeves that were huge. It stings for a few minutes, but then you're happily knitting again! I've never regretted pulling back....even mohair. It's more important to have something I'll love and wear.
Hi Leslie, Your Starry Nights looks terrific on you! Nice work on the Friend to Friend vest. Your trip to Germany, on instagram, looked like a great trip. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas! 🎄💕 Why are you knitting on that sweater that you’re frogging 🤭? 🤣
😍😍😍 Happy knitting friend! Thanks for visiting!
Loved your packing segment, Leslie!! We also travel with only carry-on’s. So fun to see how you put it all together.
Carry on for life! It's so much easier with less choices and space for yarn! :)
Oh, Leslie! Start over on that too-big sweater. You love the yarn and you love knitting. You can’t be sure you’ll love it on your husband.
Please write up your vest pattern! I can’t wait….. I enjoy everything about your podcasts.
Hi Leslie. I used to over-pack all the time. It was a huge hassle when traveling to Europe, lugging around a carry on, my purse or tote, and a large suitcase. So funny about your husband and his tastes. I love the scarf yarn and pattern.
It really is. He is hilarious! I often have to give my POV to steer him clear! hahah
Your enthusiasm for knitting and fiber is just so great! I so enjoyed this video, Leslie!

Vote to frog it! Love your Starry Sweater …. Thanks for another great podcast!
Thank you Karen! Great advice! Happy knitting friend! x x
Good seeing how you pack - I’m a carry-on girl too. Thank you for a wonderful podcast. Merry Christmas, Leslie !
Merry Christmas. Thank you
The linen quill in kettle black looks amazing with white colorwork! I love how the stars accent the little flecks of linen. For the birdie sweater--I would put it in a big time out then frog it, lol. In a few months it will feel like you just got done shopping for a new luxurious yarn!
Always love your podcast! Would love to see your packing for a tropical holiday!
The town I just moved to has an Idee! So excited you mentioned this Leslie, otherwise I may have never known to look for it!
YOU are SO LUCKY! Ohemgeeeeee! Enjoy! I think you are going to love it!!! xx

Thank you for your vote! Love that so many people had such a clear thought to rip that baby out! Happy knitting friend! xx

I’m a good carry-on traveler myself. Hubby hates waiting for luggage so if we can we travel light. Thanks for the fun and wishing you a fun and festive Christmas 🥰😘
Frog the Lyon sweater and remake for you. Buy the same yarn in a color Steve likes and find a more masculine sweater pattern for him!😊
It was so lovely to spend time with you, Leslie. Your Starry Night sweater is stunning!! Hope we get to meet up in the new year and knit over a coffee
Thank you for this podcast. Always so much fun so see your work. And your adventures while travelling! Happy holidays Leslie! I wish you some wonderful time with those you love ! And happy knitting! Love, Elise

I love your podcast!!! I screen shot the pattern for the scarf (I know German). I’m going to make a scarf for my husband in blue and gray.😊
I just reworked the Lyon at a 17 stitch gauge. Let me know if you would like my notes.
Thanks for another great episode! Merry Christmas!
Thanks for sharing your packing list. I recently went to Portugal for two weeks and only took carry on as well. Your tips will be helpful😀. Love your Starry Starry Night sweater!

Love your podcasts, Leslie! I would frog the too big / lamb & kid yarn, and start over on a sweater for yourself. The little bomber jacket is adorable!!
Thanks for sharing your challenges - I have so many WIPs I am not loving right now...
I agree--the girlie sweater is crying to be frogged.
Thank you for making this podcast- always a delight to watch! I enjoyed your packing tips as I also only travel with my carryon and the bags. it is always good to get more tips on how others make it work! Merry Christmas!
Always such a pleasure to catch up with you Leslie! Love all your packing info!
Awe. Thanks so much for the visit friend! xx
🥰@@LeslieFriend
Love catching to knit with you 💚 really enjoyed it all including your packing tips 😘
Awe. Thanks for the visit friend! xx
Coming to VKL in January, perhaps? hope so.
❤
Thanks Leslie - looked like a fabulous trip! I'm ready to cast on my first Friend to Friend shrug - can hardly wait!
That baby "bomber" is super adorable!
Love you starry night sweater and that men’s cardigan so cool❤
Hello friend, pea from fifty fabulous knits has talked about your friend to friend shrug, I am gonna have to get it, yours and hers are so beautiful, happy holidays friend
I really liked ad needed your packing suggestions.
Thank you and Merry Christmas!! You’re such an inspiring maker. Have an awesome 2024!!
I'm new to your channel, but really enjoyed listening. I'd recommend frogging that sweater and making your husband something else. :)
I’m knitting the Violeta as well. I’m in love with the lace. Your knits are beautiful.
Oh my goodness. This baby jacket is the cutest. I want to make one for my grandson 😍😍😍
Love the green vest been looking for a pattern like that can not wait in Paris hoping to stop by a yarn store have a wonderful Christmas
What a great podcast as usual. You always make my day.
Frog it. LOL (I enjoy your podcasts!)
Leslie what a fantastic episode in every way!! Thank you for sharing all your travels and inspiring ideas. (I vote for frogging and remaking something different that you will love…your hubby will be busy adoring his scarf) 💫
Happiest of Holidays to you 🎄
Working on my last/sixth friend to friend for xmas gifts , boy are they addictive and I went from really simple to really fancy by the sixth one☺️.
Amazing podcast,just love it 🤍🩶🖤
My favorite podcast! 😘 Frog that sweater; you won’t regret it. Besides, Steve needs a Clinton Hill sweater.
My thought is start anew it will make you happier.
I love how you pack! I'm also a carry-on girl and have travelled for a month plus with a carry on. I wouldn't do it any other way!
Love! It really is the best packing light! Happy knitting sweet friend! xx
Enjoyed knitting the Friend to Friend for a Christmas gift 😊
Would love the vest pattern! Aww the baby sweater is adorable!
Frog the girlie sweater! Great podcast, I can’t wait for the vest pattern.
Great advice! Thank you friend! xx
I love your Hello Friends vest. It is so pretty!
Why are you knitting on that sweater that you’re frogging 🤭? 🤣
I love your podcast ❣️Merry christmas, Leslie 🎄🕯🎉
Many greetings from Germany, Jutta
