The AWD drive train power losses compared to the RWD are all the difference. Pursuit model doesn't have more power, its just a little bit lighter than the base R/T.

Pursuit chargers before 2021 only have 5 speeds, while the rt and 2021 and new pursuits have 8 speeds
he might have more horsepower but honeslty id rather have awd and put bolts on.

One is high output cop car and the other is a RT factory civilian car way different. Put and awd cop car up against that rear wheel drive cop car and the awd gonna mop the 2wd
Your buddy in the green charger knew how to launch. I dont think you were prestaging for a launch. Next time instead of just letting off the brake and then flooring it. Try holding the brake and the gas pedal at the same time.. hold rpms at 1500 and when it's time to go.. floor it and release the brake.

It's not a matter of weight ther is only couple hundred pounds difference. Which does play into it you are correct. BUT the real reason is drivetrain power loss. The awd is going to make alot less wheel horse power the the rwd. So let's say they are both 380hp the rwd is going to put 340-350hp to the wheels. The awd is only going to put 325-330hp to wheels. Basically the awd car is going to put 5-10% less power down. Then throw in the fact that homie Basically just floored it on go instead of launching it. Had he launched properly even just holding 1500-2000rpm launch would of made a noticeable difference. The rwd isn't making enough power for traction to be an issue so they are both leaving about the same
And the once jumping into 2nd gear that rwd really starts to pull because he's got 15-20hp more to ground. And that cold air intake is giving him maybe 2hp more won't do shit without tune also

@@michealjordan6754 the cherokee srt8s are awesome! What makes them so fast is the AWD and the amount of power / Tq and transmission. In the race between these two chargers the rwd was faster because these cars aren't making big numbers to start with so basically traction isn't a huge issue for them. The srt jeep is pushing quite a bit more power so the added weight / added drive train loss is power is worth it for the added traction. Another big factor in this race outcome was driver error the guy in the awd was putting a little less power down / was a little heavier and didn't utilize the added traction he had. If he would of launched the car hard he might of won but he rolled into it so he wasn't gonna spin even if he was rwd. All that aside get the jeep they sound awesome they are very quick and you can make them insanely fast!

It gives 0-5 on the LX platform. Only 3 intakes that give a decent gain is LegMaker True CAI, AFE Power 2, Hellcat Air Box with Aftermarket Screen.

So in something like the Dodge Charger gt, aka v6 Charger. Will AWD improve performance and or speed in ANY way whatsoever?
It really depends on what conditions you’re driving in, honestly it could be slower in some cases because it’s heavier due to the front diff. If the car is making a lot of power on the other hand, the AWD system can help which means that it would be faster if not stock.

I have a awd and when I go I whoop scat packs 🤷🏽♂️ second your traction is off u can look at your computer and SEE that the car isn’t going to run right and why’d you HAVE to turn the awd on.. it should kick on when needed... and most people don’t kno that basic spark plugs (copper) come in factory cars basic coil packs also.

Leaving traction control on cuts power. Thats how traction control works. When the sensors detect slippage...it hold the engine(power) back. So with an awd car especially...you'll launch harder and accelerate quicker with traction control off.
Same. Nothing beats me off the line. I have simple bolt ons and transformer kit that really wakes the car up. ForceAWD on and it doesn't take that extra 1second to kick in and Trac off it's a beast. 0-60 in about 4.6 with the dsw's on all 4

I have an AWD chrysler 300 srt8 (yeah AWD srt8 :D) why didn't you have a bigger gap on the takeoff? My chrysler dusts other srt8's on the takeoff easily w/ AWD.

A bolt on tuned rt and a heavier rt awd and the awd doesn’t actually activate unless your in rain or snow and it detects u spinnin/slippin
And the interceptor has a big more built/beefier suspension

Yes they can, some people wire in their own switch to do it which can be cool. From factory it switches whenever there is a loss of traction and a few other cases

It won't do anything to the transmission. The awd system on the pursuit can go to and from rwd or awd...with no damage to anything. It's designed to...
Pursuit model is also awd capable .. with a big motor.

Except for the pursuit it came with the 3.06 optional in the rwd as well, so that car could have the same ratio
Your right except the awd has the 3.06 compared to the pursuits 2.65 (optional 3.06 was also available). Power difference is loss do to awd having to turn transfer case another driveshaft front diff two half shafts and two more wheels. If awd was turned off with a programmer would been better on dry payment.

once you add power and the rwd has a hard time hooking up is when youll see a real difference. i have a awd 300c with almost 500hp. its a neck breaker with how well it hooks up. the 300c and chargers are identical except body and some interior

Sorry but no intake adds 30-40 hp, maybe 3-4 and louder sounding, most get air from same place as stock, only difference in most of them is a bigger air filter, just adding a higher flowing filter to stock air box will give same power, price most cost is way way more than any are worth, if you can get a used one for real cheap ok but not worth $350

It's negative horse power for normal highway driving, they just suck in hot air when the hood is closed since they don't have a perfect seal like the stock air boxes do, designed specifically to bot get hot air.

Lol did I hear 30-40hp gain from air intake.???? Hahaha bro alot of air intakes alone actually hurt hp its been proven soo many times. AT MOST YOUR PICKING UP A COUPLE HP. the reason you buddy is pulling you is the fact you are losing alot more power through your drive train powering 4 wheels instead of 2. The awd would be of benefit if traction was an issue but since he is barely squeaking tires traction isn't an issue. And you are losing an extra 5-10% hp being awd. His being a police intercepter it may have a little extra hp as well. But I will promise you that CAI is not giving him 40hp more. If he had extra 40 hp he would of walked you by alot more.
Your right cold air intake only increases 5-10hp my mechanic said. I will say that it makes the engine bay look nicer though.
@@thebacdoc6464 yes depending on the vehicle you could see 5-10hp. but on alot of vehicles if you do intake only with no tune you can actually lose hp. The factory tune is optimized for the stock intake. And yes you are correct in makes it look better and CAI also add sound.

If you don’t got A tazer installed the car automatically in RWD and it’s heavier with the AWD the Tazer you can put it in forced AWD then you’ll win dammit I gap RWD drive RTs easily bruh

@@joshuacoates1165 go online and buy a thing called a tazer spelled like that lol and you plug it up right under your steering wheel and you should have access to the SRT menus and you can put it in forced AWD or forced RWD
Yeah the AWD only turns on if it's below 39 degrees, or if the wipers are on(like they'd be if it was raining), or when the car senses severe slippage in the rear wheels. With the added weight of the awd system...you'd have to launch it really hard to get it to engage on dry roads.

30 to 40 hp from a CAI I think not! AWD adds weight to the car, it's not meant for a drag race. It aids in handling at higher speeds and cornering. I would think the AWD would win on an actual road course. So where can I get one of those 30 hp CAI at??? 😂 2014 Charger Police pursuit 5.7 AWD, k&n typhoon cai, Jegs catback exhaust, next year the procharger goes in with new injectors and intake.

And awd is a much heavier vehicle so if your stock your always gonna be slower than your rwd counterpart,
There is no power difference between the pursuit and civi hemi 🤦♂️ the pursuit has better cooling and different interior, its a fleet built car, chrysler built the fleets all the same to save money, so if that pursuit has more hp, people would be buying the fleet code chargers to get extra hp😂. Launching isnt .Also there isnt an intake on this planet that'll give the hemi more than MAYBE 10 HP. Also with the AWD, dont just mash the pedal from a stop, thats how you grenade your TC, especially on gravel, the wheels need to roll in tandem and if the front or rears slip under WOT from a standstill like that, you could wind up needing a new TC and front driveshaft. I learned the hard way what happens when you treat them like rwd cars
Negative.... cars made in the USA have limiters on the rpm and the speed a cop car will ALWAYS have more power than the original engine rwd or awd. If it has limiters on it.. that’s like an rt from Germany vs an rt from the USA.. that car from Germany is going to be able to keep speed and power on the Autobahn (which has no speed limit) and there is no place in the USA where a car should be able to LEGALLY go 160-200mph.. most people who claim to have a car max rpm or mph either REMOVED THE LIMITERS or they’re LYING. Adding to your car doesn’t make it max out either.. GOGGLE IT

"Limiters" don't do anything or change how much power or torque an engine has. Both a charger with a limiter and one without have EXACTLY the same horsepower and torque.
Think of a speed limiter as an invisible wall that prevents an engine from going past a certain speed. Usually the speed limiter is set to whatever rating the tires have so you don't have a blowout at high speed. The stock speed limiter of a charger pursuit is the same as the civilian model which is 140mph. Law enforcement agencies can request a higher top speed limiter. But the tires also get switch out for ones with a higher speed rating.
I own an 18 awd 5.7 Charger and you right that’s easily how you split a tc in half and blow apart a front drive axle, now I just once I get it moving then I give it a lot of gas, safest bet. Definitely planning to try to get a 2014 rwd 5.7 pursuit as those are easier to be more wreckless with.
