From my years of watching LGR, I've come to the conclusion that any game that LGR unconditionally recommends must be a game of considerable caliber indeed.
+Michael Hoang yup, honestly I hate to be "that guy" but when it comes to Sims or city builders I only buy them after watching LGR.
+Witold Pomorski Don't worry, that's not a bad thing at all. I do that too because, honestly, he's the only one who genuinely explains the pros and cons of each game, when a lot of other sources either sugar-coat or bash them. It's really saved me a lot of money. So, thank you, LGR :)
+Michael Hoang I think it's because of how critical and honest he is about his thoughts on the game. if he doesn't like the game he's honest about it, and he mentions specific things he dislikes about the game. I respect his opinion because I know how thorough he is in his reviews so if it's something he highly recommends I'm far more likely to buy it XD

@@Witto22 I watched his Sims 4 vids, I level set expectations and purchased them and play them without expecting them to be like the previous iterations of the game.

Holy crap, I just read that everyone got fired! Which is bullshit if the games problems came from the top down, but perfectly reasonable if there actually was a head developer who was like, "Ya know what makes a great game? Smaller maps, always online & DRM"
Man, Cities: Skylines is a game deserving of an expansion pack. The devs have really acted like an ideal game company throughout the development of this game. They don't appear to be trying to scam us, they're handing out all these free updates and patches instead of piling them into expansion packs and charging is a shittload for them... I love the developers, and I absolutely love the game. $15 is an absolute bargain, as well. I'd be damned if I didn't buy this expansion!
+Jailen Kurimuzon I just hope they don't get stuck into the rut of letting their ego and popularity step into the way. The fan base slipped into a "this game is perfect!" phase after release of the base game, and any criticism (fair or unfair, didn't matter) was met with hate. I just hope Colossal don't get stuck into that rut, because while After Dark is a brilliant update / DLC with a fair price, it does have some issues that do need addressing.

It was mainly because everyone was trumped at how well C:S beats out Simcity 2013 when it first launched, so they immediately labelled it as the "perfect game" and hated any criticism that came in. It's no where near a perfect game, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game, because it is a great game.
judging from the unthinkably generous $30 price tag of the base game, i knew the xpac would be well worth $15. what i didn't know is they include day/night cycles and so many other things i thought were only for the xpac as a free patch. whaaaat?!
i think colossal order is my new favorite dev team next to valve and squad. they provide quality content at prices that are literally incomparable to anyone else there days. here's to their continued success and hopefully a slew of great games they will hopefully release in the future!

If they add weather & natural disasters its a wrap for Sim City. It would be amazing to see how your city looks like covered in snow or during a storm and how it effects your whole city.

It would be cool to be able to chance the color temperature of specific street lights. Like LED or Incandescent lighting.

Amazing!
Somehow Iwhile watching I got reminded of Ross Scott's review of Wolfenstein in which he talked about how soulless the game is and how it reminded me of 90% of all TripleA games that have so much money pumped into it but no one on the team cares about it. This here is what happens wehn it's the complete opposite, this is how games should be made. I haven't even played the base game yet but I see so much energy and love in it that even as someone who isn't really into this kind of game I really want to play it, and I will, I already bought it. That's what happens when you care about your game, people will notice and buy it. Big thumbs up from me to Colossal Order.

THOSE FLYING TOASTERS OMG, I remember there was a piece of software which had all kinds of animations like that. I used to "play" with it. I'm only just now realizing it was a screensaver software.
This pack should have been called the ''See this EA? that's how you do it! Up yours!'' expansion pack
I'm really enjoying After Dark. It fixes a lot of the annoying issues I had with the base game (primarily tourism) and the new buildings look great. I love the feeling of really being able to personalize all the little nooks of my city, so the cycle paths are a nice addition.
I'd say it was worth the price.
I'd love to see a weather mod though. Things like freak snow storms affecting traffic and citizen health/death rates, rain causing more citizens to use cars instead of walking/cycling and fog causing road accidents. The sort of little emergencies that you have to plan for and react to.
If they ever add seasons and weather to the game, I'll cream myself so hard it'll hurt.

I've never heard you review a game with such enthusiasm and glee for such a long time. This seems to be a great pack.
This reminds me a lot of how I'd like to see The Sims 4 Seasons expansion done. A free content update that adds basic seasons to the core game (EA could think of it as a promotional thing) and the expansion would...well-EXPAND upon it, add the festivals, celebrations, activities and so forth. Not sure how well a similar philosophy would work with the other expansions but it's something I'd love to see them experiment with.
Granted the publisher of Cities Skylines is independent (at least from the looks of things) so they just have more room to do things like this. However, like I said it could be a really good promotional tool, like "Here's a little taste of what you'll get if you buy our expansion".

Really neat. Great to see an awesome game get even better. Fantastic review as per usual. It'd be cool if they released a more stylized expansion pack, like a Utopian or Dystopian future set. I always like playing these sorts of games for the beauty you can construct, and a more off the wall art style would add a lot of possibilities.

oh dude, i have not nearly been on this channel enough lately, just hearing your voice gives me nostalgia of when i was first looking to buy the sims 3 for pc, even now im not sure what i like more the game or the reviews you made of its dlc, i mean i liked the game and all so the reviews served their purpose but they dont make me smile as much as the vids its more of me mindlessly sending sims to their chairy demise

Are you running many mods? Because my game runs incredibly slow. Typically 30-35fps dropping to maybe 9-11fps when I zoom in. This is on a 980 Ti and 3770k. I even tried running mods disabled and I saw no changes.

Well. It depends on your city.
Really big = Big FPS drop
Big = small FPS drop
Small = no FPS drop
+SirCrest the 980 ti is heavily bottlenecked by the 3770k, especially in highly CPU bound titles like Cities Skylines
Current city is about 30k cims, but my 3770k is sitting at roughly 40-45% usage.
Seems others run it on similar or lesser hardware and get better results.
Did you disable all assets as well or just mods? I had problems until I disabled everything.

Totally understandable and well worth it on sale. I love the district option in the game so much that I'm happy to see any new additions to it, but yeah, definitely not a necessity!

The district opinion is amazing. It lets us customize our cities just that little bit more than your normal city builder, or a lot in my case. The amount of time I've spent dividing my cities up into districts is worrying...

I wish you continued doing some Cities Skylines challenge videos. The one you did was really fun to watch, I used it to explain the game to my GF.
Now that's what I call an expansion. Maybe these guys should go and give some tips to EA about how to create an 'expansion' pack.
I've rewatched all of your three "Cities Skylines & EP" reviews several times this week. I've been looking for a game to replace the void have from not playing any of EA's games anymore and luckily I stumbled across this review, after I tried it for a week I can happily I found the ONE! Finally one simulation game that doesn't annoy me at all, one I can play for hours and actually enjoy it, and want to come back for more. I agree with you, it's pretty much how Simcity (2013) is supposed to be. EA, you suck!

I hope there's better difficulty/challenge as well? Because before the only challenge whatsoever in the game was getting traffic right and/or getting all buildings to tier 3.
The only thing I see missing in this -which also contributes significantly to difficulty- is having events/disasters, such as riots, car crashes, droughts, recession, tornadoes, or water shortages.
I'm a bit surprised that so much content -or at least the day/night feature- was added in a free patch rather than expansion, but then again much of the stuff (not the day/night feature) could be added with mods.
Interesting, and a good review. Haven't been able to play with the patch yet (too many difficulties loading cities), but it looks promising. My only caveat here is that I think some of this content (ok, a lot of it), should have been in the base game. Also, I believe some of it (the bike lanes, the prisons, the bus lanes) should have been part of the patch, for the same reason. But its good that the patch they released is this significant, and they aren't trying to put up a paywall to the end user (unlike Paradox themselves, ironically). A big 3 cheers to Colossal Order, and a big hand clip to you sir for the great review!!!

Clint, have you considered upgrading your gaming/editing setup? I have no idea what the specifications are, or how demanding Cities is, but a few FPS dives are noticeable here and there in the video.

I just DID upgrade, my specs are in the video description. Any city builder is hugely taxing to run once your city grows to a certain size, and this one is no exception :) Heh, someone else was just saying how GREAT my game runs compared to theirs...
So they are! My mistake. But yes, it does seem logical that any map as large and heavily populated as your city, would be fairly CPU heavy. Thanks for the clarification.
I looked for an LGR review before I bought it, but this was a few days ago. Regardless, I was not disappointed with the purchase.
It's coming to the Nintendo switch and I'm excited to play it for the first time. May even consider getting it for pc.
New expansion has been announced, Snowfall, that is meant to add snow and snow-themed maps.

Do use that I found with the day night budget sliders is that for electricityduring the daytime you can actually turn down the electricity budgetbecause they don't need as much electricity during the daytime which was a tiny detail that I like and made me fall in love with the game just a little bit more but what sold a game to me is when I looked at an ambulance going towards building when came out they come out with a little tiny strretcher

Howdy! Can you do a review of Seek and Destroy, developed by Vision Software? That was one of my favorites as a kid, and I haven't seen any review videos of it online. Another old favorite of mine is Fury3, which would be nice to see a review of.
A decently priced expansion, and a bunch of content you get by default just by getting the latest patch. Suddenly, and without explanation, I find myself in the twilight zone.

The best thing I've ever done in this game was put the statue of liberty directly in front of the prison. It has never failed to make me laugh.
