I believe most people just don't want to accept that her music is good or at least decent, not every rap song has to have insane lyricism to be a solid song. Her music is catchy and most people who hate on her simply have internalized stigmas towards her which is why they have such a hard time accepting her music. If you put the prejudices aside, you can accept that the music is fine. Also you're not sassy or gay for liking her music 😭😭 (Also I'm not saying you have anything against her ZBKI, just in general.+ It's not respectful to say the T slur: Tr--ny)
Cortisa has intrigued me also, just stumbled upon her like you did. First impressions were almost the same as well, just amused by the cadence and bravery for appearing on that type of show thats known for talented and agressive rappers. Once i started to listen to the other songs, i had no choice but to deconstruct the sound bc unfortunately music has become so calculated that once you find an artist like Cortisa Star, if you have an ear for creativity you immediately start to dissect the sound - find out what is making your ear tick; something that impressed me right off bat. Not sure if it was the production or her choice of flows but both are immaculately designed around eachother. The beats reflect a 90s grunge sound that has a presence in underground rap, something i think is smart for a newcomer to create as their staple sound. The removal of the limiter on the equalizer paired with her wiry voice marries perfectly, especially with the choice of midtempo beats that naturally give the impression of a faster tempo, making the one she chooses to rap with float in and out of the bass making her last word in the bar stick to your brain (kinda like the way when you sang along but the only word that popped was tr*nny), it gives her the opportunity to catch your ear with shock value no matter what line sticks for you. To me its impressive to find out how that works on every beat, bc even though theres only 3-4 songs out, they all sound similar in theme but contrast very widely. Only cortisa crump and fun use distorted choir vocals while the other tracks feature futurisic industrial sound effects. By far, just the vocals and sound arrangement playing off eachother is creative and calculated on its own, but the aesthetic is a whole other bag. The presence of being comfortable post transition is a bold mktg strategy, she doesnt do much with makeup and hair and the clothes are a statement; i didnt understand until i saw cortisa crump that the aesthetic is a play on late 90s streetwear, a subculture that embraced thrifted clothing, upcycled garments, and hand-me-downs that created an assortment of themes that are based off pop culture. I think that approach is captivating wether it immpresses you or not; its job is to keep you talking about it, good or bad. With that said i look forward to seeing more of her and i hope she stays as authentic as she is. I personally am wary of the lyrical content, ive heard the same thing she says from numerous female rap artists and i think its slightly disrespectful to her potential, theres ways to say the same thing without saying whats already out there and i think that she can be creative enough to do it if shes pushed to do so, im actually rooting for it. Her delivery is by far the most impressive thing about her music, its what we expected out of ice spice with munch. Im just hoping history isnt repeating so quickly
I'm intrigued by her aesthetic too; her freckles and eyes are very striking, and the way her music by default sounds like when you're recording a dank ass concert
I transitioned too early I was never able to do the deep voice but everyone expects it and gets disappointed that I can't like it's a party trick or something 😭
14:18 estrogen shots doesn’t affect voices, trans women who transitioned later in life have to voice train except for those who transitioned earlier like kim petras they probably used hormone blockers so their voices don’t drop
14:20 thats a very interesting question, bc trans women taking estrogen doesnt really change your voice that much (unlike testosterone, your voice gets deeper and manlier and your vocal folds thicker) so they use vocal exercises and stuff to sound more feminine (unless they get surgery for that too), so yeah trans women can do high pitch shit and low pitch shit pretty easily lol
the way she mixes her audio is really unique, plus the basslines are really intricate and catchy. lyrics are a bit outrageous but thats expected for the genre 😂
Algorithm is working great, I JUST left the video with the mic, and you uploaded 16 minutes ago! Nice! I think that first song would sound fire if somebody remixed a beat over it.
14:17 As a trans woman I totally appreciate the way u asked. It’s a very kind way to ask, but trans women’s voices doesn’t change on hormones, most trans women go through vocal training to sound more feminine, but it’s not how we sound, we still have the deep voice, we just talk in a higher octave, trans men on the other hand get deeper voices from there hormones it’s like a one way street voices can always get deeper but it doesn’t ever get higher sadly, 💖💖 also the deep part in the song is exaggerated I don’t think she sound like that 😂😂😂I think more trans artists should do it too it gives a cool effect other artists can’t do lovin the video man got a sub from me
@@ZayBeKillinIT As somebody who's from the Caribbean 🇹🇹 where dancehall is heavily listened to you should definitely look into it, it's a whole vibe by itself 😊 I could recommend u some of my favourite artists if u want me too 👍
Estrogen will give you the other stuff a biological woman has. Except, you won't get a period, and it won't make your voice higher. You would either have to transition before you hit puberty, do Vocal exercises or get surgery on your Vocal cords.
I love that she’s getting recognition finally.

The joy on his face when he says the word alongside her lyrics makes me love that shit. Such a vibe. Chill bruh
Good btw
Bro stop the cap pls, she is ass. Her music sounds unintentionally syncopated. Like the beat is going 30 rpm and she rapping 74 rpm. Wtf is going on
It’s not good bro all her songs are ass that auto tune is so annoying and that beat don’t match her lyrics 💀

I love how respectful you were too, I recencently discovered her and I LOVE HER MUSIC. You right you really just gotta catch the flow.
I’m trans and I never had a man voice. I am pretty sure she used a voice tool to edit her voice to make it like a deep demon voice.
I transitioned too early I was never able to do the deep voice but everyone expects it and gets disappointed that I can't like it's a party trick or something 😭
Can I respectfully ask, what do you expect to happen once you transition from one gender to another? Just asking cuz I'm genuinely curious...
