" Afrofuturism is the reimagining of a future filled with arts, science and technology seen through a black lens." in an ideal future there would be no "black" or "white" lens. And even if there were, this series looks more like some kind of a "Disco-Futurisim" than an "AfroFuturism"
This is a tone deaf comment for the following reasons: 1.) You cannot ignore cultural differences. The demographic for sci-fi is 90% Caucasian. That's great, however a Caucasian writer is unable to articulate the experience of a person of African decent with pinpoint accuracy without experiencing life from within African skin. The nuance of existence is what is missing, which is why we created Afrofuturism. 2.) Disco was created and ushered into prominence by African-Americans. Afrofuturism encompasses all Afrocentric creations including music, dance, fashion, and language. Your perception of what this video 'looks like' and allusion to what it should be comes from an uncultured mode of thinking. 3.) You clicked on this video as a skeptic, ignored its vital information and detail (which everyone else comprehended), and attempted to discredit an excellent production. Your input was negative but alas, you have every right to be wrong. I hope you get a chance to go out into the world and live. Experience humanity. One Love.
That's wrong, p-funk started a universal thang it was black or white, whatever you needed it to be,as long as it served the subliminal urge,to laugh have fun,for a couple of hours to enjoy,if there are blacks on earth then are blacks in space, you dig?
I hate responding to what might seem a negative response to this video, but as a 76 year old Caucasian I must make this comment. In my former career I started out with little no interaction with the non white community. I grew up in in a solid family environment with everyone having a strong work ethics. And that represented most if not all of the white community. We had goals that could be met with the character we inherited from our families. As time went on the non white community began to migrate to our city (s) and the image of the nonwhite community was it did not bring with it the same image I was so used to. Property values plummeted, because there was little to no work ethic shown in maintaining their homes etc. Sad, but that was the image they portrayed. Those individuals of the nonwhite community to be Uncle Toms as they were described, succeeded in society. Over time I had the opportunity to work and live with those successful individuals and I truly respected and loved them as human beings. However , I also recognized the image of many in the non white community did not TRY to change their image. The young adults were being raised in broken homes, and literally broken communities. Trash was everywhere, lawns not cut, just an image of laziness. Those who might have voted, voted for a party that made them slaves to the system. I for one tried supporting school choice, charter schools etc., giving the urban community an opportunity to change that image. Many of the young people don’t dress for success, but dress like they want to be “ Hollywood wanna bees” . I know I’ll be attacked for my comments, but my comments are to cause the non white community to think about changing their image. There is no reason that community can’t succeed, but that success can’t be found when the overall national community sits back and continually sees “that unfortunate image”. Their I believe so much wonderful talent within the non white community, but until that community really changes that image ( and not with riots) it will continue that struggle. A small suggestion I’ve heard in my lifetime was. “ dress for the job you seek” couple that with being able to clearly speak the English language and demand OF YOURSELF to strive harder for better education and family values. Character, is the prime ingredient. I’ll end this long comment by saying again, there is so much untapped talent in the non white community, but it’s up to you to find and reward that talent. Set your goals for the sciences, medicine etc., not music and dance. I love many non whites and they have all earned my respect and love.
Nice history, great music for all to enjoy.

@@TheFakeMikeLWatts Your tone deaf reply. Diversity of skin color does not equate to diversity of ideas.
Cultural nuance escapes you.@@bronwenable
@@itsthejlk7800 what you call culture I may consider cultish.

Nice attempt, but they don't want to change their image.
If they did; they couldn't play the victim.
