  • LET IT CAST is the revolutionary International casting system used by productions to enable talent submissions through the actual audition for the role.
Used by legendary filmmakers like Darren Aronofsky, Paul Schrader, Werner Herzog or Larry Clark.
    Check it out at www.letitcast.com
The goal is to favor the artistic expression of an actor's work over the traditional headshot/resume submission process.

Al Pacino had that dark brooding Sicilian quality to him that was essential to the character. The studio execs were deceived by Pacino’s youthfulness and probably his slight physical stature but Coppola managed to sway them after showing the rushes from the restaurant scene where Michael kills his father’s antagonists.
And my goodness Diane Keaton was gorgeous. @4:54

Gosh pacino was so young & gorgeous. To think this was only his second movie is incredible. Coppola had such a great idea for talent. I think James caan was perfect as santino. I'm so glad they did not go with oneal Redford or switching caan to the part. I always hate when exec's want all big names. How can any new people become famous if they keep going to names. I mean the Redford 's & o'neals also had to start somewhere. I also usually hate nepotism but in this case I'm glad Francis went his sister to play connie. She was great & proved it when she played Adrienne in rocky.

True Story, I somewhat looked like Al Pacino, When I got off the Airplane at the San Diego Airport to enter the Marines in Sept of 1974, about 6 girls ran after me for an autograph yelling Al Pacino. too bad I had to get on the bus for Boot Camp. 😆

@@bwaters735 but not hiring someone just because they weren't very well known is so stupid. Plus it's not entirely true, Al did a lot of Broadway and was very well known in that community.

@@lmaoqasim well it’s understandable. I mean at the time The Godfather was created, Hollywood operated very differently, and they cared more about making money than being authentic or artistic. After flops in paramount, they were extremely afraid of casting a nobody fearing then it wouldn’t attract any audiences and therefore no money.
The reason why the godfather is so important is because it changed Hollywood forever and showed studios what kind of an impact authentic/artistic dramas, if done properly, had on the audience and essentially how they could make huge money too. After this movie came out, Hollywood stopped making repetitive comedies controlled by studios, and entered a new era that had relied on “independent” films and directors with artistic control following.

Why didn't you put that "Legendary Headshot" scene. I really love that and wants to know about it in detail.

I always thought introducing Martin Sheen in this movie would be a brilliant move.
