My ancient ancestors from Norway used a special shaped dowel building their wooden boats, which probably took longer, but held for the rough sea, dowels were carved into a shallow type of spiral curve, that caused the dowel to turn when knocked in, also it had a square head and with resin sap added and a lock round dowel next to it, they would need to turn to come out, which vary rarely happened 😉, I just wanted to let you know, in case you wanted to try something else for a change, maybe when you plan to go out in a sea storm lol.

A couple of questions: why are you not using epoxy between the wooden planks, and are wooden pegs a safe way to attach the bottom portion of your build, when there is a lot of pressure from waves, and people standing on the boat's deck. Is it because these items are expensive or that you are taught that way. I am not questioning your skills, you are very knowledgeable in building boats.
Lias lives on the Indonesian east coast of the island of Borneo. Look at all the other boats he has built. Epoxy resin is not necessary. The very many wooden Dowels (pegs) he uses, are more than strong enough.
