I don't get this. Then, why are we even studying. Like, we have studied a large part of our lives doing schooling+bsc+msc and then even after and during those 5-6 years of phd we are getting around 8K per month or around 30K per month (if jrf qualified).. it's so sad seeing the salary and status of a research student in india,.. Now, i regret why i hadn't done btech or mbbs or nursing.. atleast i had been earning around 30k-50k as starting pay if i had done any of the professional courses.. it's not only that salary is bad... It depends if you have will to pursue further in studies , doing MA and PhD is a long process and only rewarding if you have intention of staying in your subject plus you should have these degrees from highly recognised universities to have any meaning for them. Go for SSC is certainly the easier path than two atleast that what I feel but it is also not a cakewalk, competition is immense in these govt job and you have no surety of regular vacancies coming every year.

You are in a good situation and i wouldn't recommend you to leave your job. Get permanent and then apply for Part Time PhD. Also, after getting permanent, ask your Institute if they offer study leave and then join PhD.

I am disagree with you that phd is low profile job... Fact is if your work is different from other you will definately get glory for that... And you will be well known in scientific community...ofcourse you won't get much money but you will get respect..

You are in a good situation and i wouldn't recommend you to leave your job.
Get permanent and then apply for Part Time PhD. Also, after getting permanent, ask your Institute if they offer study leave and then join PhD.
Its a gov college sir.. In our state all guests are getting permanent but not as full time faculty... Salary is much less and designation too..
