This is my Amouroud Santal Des Indes Review video. In this video you have the chance of winning a full 100ml bottle of Santal Des Indes or an Amouroud Fragrances 6 x 5ml Sample Set to preview their entire collection. I sampled the 6 fragrances in the Amouroud Fragrances and immediately fell in love with Santal Des Indes. Santal Des Indes is mysore sandalwood, absinthe and incense. And what a great combo of these 3 awesome notes in this fragrance. These three fragrances play very well together here. Also with the name Amouroud I am thinking since amour means love they combined amour and oud and came up with Amouroud meaning Oud Love. Although Santal Des Indes and a few others in the Amouroud Fragrances collection didn't contain oud in the notes and they don't really have to as Santal Des Indes is a perfect scent on it's own and I really love wearing it. It's a green, smoky sandalwood.

Great review as always! Thank you for a chance of winning a full bottle and sample. Watching this review reminds me of Hemingway's rich description of absinthe in his novel "From Whom the Bell Tolls".

In this, the real absinthe, there is wormwood. It's supposed to rot your brain out but I don't believe it. It only changes the ideas."

Hello Sebastian! I Also like licorice, had you try Aoud black candy ? Absolutely delicious
I have sampled SdI a few times. Let me say right away that it smells really good, but unfortunate it does not smell good for the notes it is supposed to represent. The name “Santal” suggests Sandalwood, and Sandalwood is a note that I don’t perceive much here. The note that is most salient in this perfume is incense. Incense is a very strong and dominant note. It doesn’t take much for it to dominate and suffocate the rest of the notes. And that’s exactly what incense does in this perfume. It takes over from the start and doesn’t let the rest of the notes shine thru. I do perceive a little Vetiver Vetiver in the background and the sweetness of the absinthe accompanying the incense. But that’s it. No Mysore Sandalwood in this perfume. No Cedar either. No curry. No rose. No leather. No musk. Perfumers need to take it very easy with incense. Once it passes a point it simply asphyxiates the other notes. Fortunately the incense here doesn’t smell like church incense either.

Absynth is very interestind and comlex perfumerie accord. Now I did not remember smell of By Kilian Test of a Heaven about absynth, but know that I did NOT like Nasomatto Absinth,

I'm not a real huge fan f licorice but if you say this is good then I'm going to have to get a sample to try out. Or maybe go to participate in the giveaway, wouldn't mind winning a bottle or thinking the saple set would be better.

Madly in love with oud and interested that this doesn't and has incense and absinthe. Very spice and Asian notes. Ooooh.

Sorry, Seb...but licorice and anise are not very pleasing to my nose. Oh, I wanna thank-you for my J.F. Schwarzlose samples...loved couple, liked a couple and didn't care for two simply because they were too feminine...but good quality nonetheless. Cheers.

Yeah, I don't like them in fragrance but that doesn't mean I won't keep searching. Heck, it took me almost four years before I found a fig fragrance (Montale Oudmazing) that I actually enjoyed wearing. I know what you're thinking...try Diptyque Philosykos - I did, and I didn't like it. The same goes for chocolate when featured prominently in fragrances...DHI, LIDGE, etc. are all scrubbers IMO.
Speaking of...didn't you at one time make a video no your favorite or least favorite notes? There was a couple times when I wanted to go back and review some of your old ManLovesCologne videos (Caroline CH Men Grand Tour?, Mancera/Montale?) but they're obviously not available. Are you going to post these and/or re-review the fragrances?
