  • Traction engine run from start to finish. It has been sitting for many years but still in working order, have many more modifications to do on this engine. I am running it on wood only this time, the next time i will use coal to see if it steams any quicker. I have a slideshow of making of this engine in my other videos

I've lost count the amount of times I've watched your traction engine videos. I love the style of engineering.

before your traction engine use to look like copper like. but its starting to look like a proper traction engine today

You need an air blower or fan on top of the smoke stack to pull on the fire, makes starting the fire and flashing the boiler to steam much easier, certainly a unique little engine, has a character.

Yes that is a good idea i would like something like that as it does not have 100% efficiency. Its only homemade and has no water jacket either and that would really help to start her up. Thanks for your comment

Sounds like it needs a bit of oil, perhaps you should add some oiling points to help lubricate? By the way your engine looks fantastic! I couldn't build anything like this 😂

Thanks very much for the comment. It does have the displacement lubricator and grease points on crankshaft were i use high temperature grease.

    Fantastic machine!
About your boiler, I notice it's an exterior firebox design, are there lots of heat loss with such firebox, having a poor steam generation capacity, or is there enough draft to really pull the heat out of the firebox? Or perhaps you've insulated the firebox from the outside...
Either way that's a work of art!

Thanks it does have trouble steaming due to the design but didn't have the knowledge back then for water jacket. Originally only had 3 large boiler tubes and wouldn't steam well at all then got an overhaul and put quite a few in always a work in progress

Absolutely beautiful piece of machinery, where did you learn such deep understanding of the machines?

Thanks, alot of research, trial and error and also did some work for railway heritage which gave fantastic insight
