I love how the Retro Tech folks feel like an actual community- like celebrities were there but it was just like a local swap meet with some good buddies.
4:11 Retro Tech Chis!!! The hero, the man, the legend... What a cool swap meet. Still working hard to build a community like this closer to my neck of the woods in central Alabama. Loved VCF SE though!
4:49 I have one of those with the same CPU among my piles of stuff, although not with all the nice stickers, and even thought it's apparently from the free pile, watching Sean bothering to picki it up makes me give it a little bit of value. In any case I adore sweap meet videos, I drool over so much of the stuff I see, not just the rare and coveted kind!
Closest thing I saw was a 3B2 at the VCF East Swap Meet last year (2023). Sold for stupid cash, sub $1k I believe, but was complete. AT&T stuff is hard to come by since most of it was used internally.
@@MichaelAStanhope They did offer them for sale but most of them were sold to telcos- probably because they were way too expensive. They used them both as business systems and for controlling #4 and #5 ESS switches. And I was talking about the System Source Museum specifically.
Always nice to have you out in my neck of the woods even if you wouldn't come up and see my personal collection! 🤣 I feel bad that I got sick but it was still worth the trip, even if I took most of it home with me and picked up a few strays!
I got to do the tour at this museum a few weeks ago. Took my dad who was familiar with the older 60's and 70's stuff. There was a special event Amateur Radio station setup there operating July 19-21 but I'm thinking maybe this swap meet was a different weekend?
Great video, pity we do not have these kind of things here in the Netherlands anymore that I know of. In the eighties and nighties we used to have these when there was stil a vibrant hobby computer club. I would sure have picked up some things.
same, netherlands kinda lame sometimes lmao. What part are u from? maybe we can organise something? If a few retro tech fans make something up itll [hopefully] gain some traction
@@RedTroPc I live in the Rotterdam area, I know there is still a small community from the HCC (Holland Computer Club) left and they have a HCC Retro community. they have a meeting on august 31 in Bilthoven and I am planning to be there.
I would have grabbed most the e waste from the free pile im broke and i like free stuff the toshiba laptop from the free pile i would have grabbed and the other laptop I would have bought the old polaroid

I wish we had these Swap meets here in Central Florida!

Maybe one of these days they'll get a 3B5, 3B15 or 3B20 UNIX mainframe. They were used almost exclusively by AT&T.

Love seeing the community! I attended VCF SE over the weekend and had a fantastic time.
What a fun meetup! It's probably good that I didn't make this one, I see several things I would have picked up!!
It’s always dangerous! 😅 Thanks for the goodies my friend! ❤️ Hope to catch up soon!
Yes, I would have probably traded my left kidney for a few things... and I need that!
At 6:32 a Quantum Q250 drive...with its "Caution- Hot" label...despite the fact that they don't run very hot at all.
@8:52 I think that was from my free book box. That book was interesting because it was so old, from the beginning of the multimedia era (93/94ish).
I believe it was! Thanks for giving it out - I always enjoyed that book series. Hope you had a great time!
@@Mac84 I did! I bought the ImageWriter II and one of the floppy disk files @2:33, and picked up a IIGS set before you got to film it.
All of these swap meets are 5+ hours from me. I wish there was one in the Rochester NY area!
Great talking with you there, it was a really good day!
Thanks for showing off this swap meet! You should come to the MIT one at some point

I went to VCF East and I thought that free pile was great but the free pile at this swap meet was even better
Was nice to finally meet you guys and chat a bit. Had a great time and took home far to much stuff!
6:19 Oh cool, a LaCie Joule tower! I totally would've grabbed that
That looks terrific! Like a dark object of desire for the design alone.
seeing the museum next to it gives me hope that the free pile did not end up in the trash
You drive by my house, and I dont even get a wave and a 'Hello!'?!? :O
The swap meet looked awesome though!
Looks like fun
I completely forgot this was happening D:

3:05 I want that display! :( lol
this seems so cool and wholesome :3
too bad this isnt a thing where I live
Free LCIII?! dang. But way too long of a drive from RI. I call dibs if you find a need to rehome it. 🤣🤣
You didn’t see the inside. A mouse used it as a nest 🫠
I can’t believe you bought a Presario 1200. I would’ve walked my own mother for those Prolineas.
Good stuff, but I live in the UK, we got car boot sales in here instead
Looking forward to your next “earthquake” video about your basement after this😂😂😂
hi in the uk there used to be computer fairs they are no more
as this is very out of date how you get gear now who know who now

Just by looking at the map I feel like I live so close to you no seriously. @mac84
