I actually own a Traktor Kontrol S2 MK3, it's really perfect for small-scale parties: Good build quality with excellent jogging wheels, compact and mobile without a cramped layout, great minimum selection of features that you actually use, and excellent value for money. It's this combination that actually made me pick this controller over the Traktor Kontrol S4 MK3.
same here, i bought to play in the nature with out generator or powerbanks, super confortable to set up, agree with you? for small scale events its perfect
Definitely have wipes ready for the headphones 🎧 plus I’m definitely using the prime go. No laptop needed. I would use it with a laptop lift. Plus get a solar power battery unit. Plus get a small canopy for glair. Plus a backpack chair. The table set up is dope
In case you ever need more than 2 hours (or want to use more demanding gear), there's portable AC power banks. They have regular AC outlets that you can plug your laptop charger to. They also often have USB outputs
I'm just seeing this now! I've been doing silent disco hikes and dances in nature for a while now... I also have a Meetup group (same name) and planned on doing this during Covid, but there were too many restrictions for how many people could attend. I'm definitely going to start this up again soon... maybe with a second dj (2 channel headsets). More dancing in nature ahead!
I do similar events with battery powered speakers - I'm using Yorkville EXM series speakers and I have a Goal Zero Yeti 150 for extra battery life for my laptop.

I really want to do this, but my experience with Silent Disco headphones is that they DON'T have great low end response. They sound like very-very low data rate (96Kbps) mp3's. Where did you get yours? What brand/make are they?
We've vetted them pretty closely and they sound great and are relatively sturdy compared to other systems we've seen. You can find them here: store.djtechtools.com/products/silent-disco-3-channel-headphones-package?_pos=2&_sid=b6315678d&_ss=r

Hi Ean thanks for the content as always. I switched to Trakor because of your channel! I see that you're mixing wearing the Silent Disco Headphones, which makes me think that you're not using the CUE function to listen to tracks before brining them into the mix. In order for me to still be able to CUE tracks, I imagine that I will have to use normal headphones plugged into the mixer still? Thanks
A few things... 1. A great way to boost your power availability is a laptop power brick like the Halo bolt form amazon $129 2. You lost me at silent disco. 3. If your not using a PA how or why would you need permission (permit) to be in a park. It's a park.
@@djtechtools Fortunately, the club we do the parties at bought the headphones and is also taking care of the (cumbersome) charging and desinfecting now. They built a charging/cleaning rack for that. So did the people the rented them from before. Our record is around 1200 at an open air event ✌️
@@Gagarinprojectofficial As in the video? Yes. Fairly certain that there is only one plant in China dumping these out for the whole world 😉 There was an earlier model without the coloured LED rings showing the chosen channel though.
40 USD per headphone, that's not that much if you start looking around on the internet for a pair of headphones. There won't be many options in that price range, especially also have them be wireless. 800 USD is a big investment, sure. But the price per headphone is honestly not at all bad.
My point is that if you add all the costs for doing a gig like this, ur looking at a 1000 dollar plus investment AT LEAST. PLUS controller, laptop, etc. Not “affordable” for the median DJ today. All that said, I fully support the idea and its great to get rolling again after COVID. Just not affordable at all, and given that he’s actually selling them, a call out on this is warranted.
Nice video, still I am a bit sceptical at this concept. The event showed in this clip was rightfully staged. Maybe it is doable in the summer for real, but my experience is that it needs to be highly organized to get people dancing privately. Music is not enough. The social element is strong and in an event of scilent private disco, this still is a very strange element. Yeah it works for a crowd who already knows each other like Ian's yoga glass mates ;) The bubble effect is hard to tackle on its own. Good luck trying though. I have done this in a spinning class but that too is highly pre-organized.
Often times a good way to prevent this is to accept a basic piece of physical collateral - like an ID, phone, or something else - when you hand out the headphones.
@@djtechtools yup! This way you got a piece of them in case they try to steal your stuff. Plus collect their e-mail and have your e-mail so they can contact you

One question: how do you charge the headphones?
You can find the answer at the technical details in the link:
Battery: Rechargeable 500 mAh lithium polymer (Li-Po), charging cable included

How can I buy this…?
Whats even better is ditch the laptop and pioneer ddj for a Deno Prime go which does not require a laptop and has a 4 plus hour battery life .

Charge a small fee to rent the headphones to attendees. It’ll be paid off within a few events.
