In the Philippines, we have the privilege to sit in our homes and listen to their voices, and yet people in this video seem to have lacked of genuine appreciation. You won't hear such an amazing duet anytime at any place.
My thoughts exactly. This is a wonderful display of that unique instrument, the human voice. The Philippines is so blessed to have these two ladies share their extraordinary abilities to a general audience for free.
sonny chan one more thing, filipino audience love to "interrupt" and show their appreciation with applause and cheers! the highlights of performances. which I find annoying and distracting, especially in a song like this.
first time i saw this piece. i've searching youtube on gerphil since i got hooked a day or two ago. she is jyst amazing ! the lady in green is also good and one can see she made sure didn't overshadow gerphil in that number. 👏👏👏

Regine's professionalism and adaptability shined through this duet. Regine could have easily upstaged Gerphil by singing louder and belting higher towards the end but she adjusted to harmonize with Gerphil's classical type of singing. Regine could've used her power pop belting technique and used a mixed voice technique to overpower Gerphil's last note but she opted not to because that will kill the harmony and blending they were executing. She was in full control of her voice down to the very end. She even faded her last note as soon as Gerphil faded hers. These two are very sensitive and intuitive vocal artists. Kudos!
This shows technically how a song can be in two different manners . I see no conflict in it. I see no need to compare two superb Filipino artists. I don't see any reason to quarrel who is better than the other. Its a celebration of the Filipino talent!
Epic duet. Gerphil is such a talent. But why do I cry when Queen Regine sings her part😢. Too much emotion there with her on point as always powerful voice.

The public's attention span is so fickle and fleeting with these new talents, I tell you. They all come and go. But that's the way this world goes. They come and go but Regine Velasquez stays.

This duet is a study in contrasts, and for that it has a value in showing us, mere laypeople, the difference of music genres. In singing the same song with the same notes, we get a glimpse of how different an operatic voice like Gerphil's and a pop diva voice like Regine's. They both hit the necessary notes, both sang on tune, and both sang beautifully. We can say perhaps the beauty is in the difference, that you can partner someone with a classical voice and a pop diva voice and produce great music! Reminds me of Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe in 'Barcelona.'

grabe control ni regine sa last part ng kanta. talagang inalalayan nya si gerphil para marinig ung gagawin ni gerphil na mag change ng higher note. napanuod ko kasi yan version ni regine ung solo nya lang. grabe ung last part bakulaw. hindi sya kataasan pero grabe ang volume parang yumayanig ng kisame.

Nagpigil lang si Regine ate. Regine stayed at e5 final note to let Gerphil shine. Kung binirit nya yan ng todo, matatabunan nya ang up and coming superstar. Hindi bastos si Regine. Kilala siya for supporting new artists. And she obviously likes Gerphil kaya talagang nagparaya siya. E5 note is like yawning for Regine.

Ilang beses na ba tayong nirepresent ni regine abroad at NEVER tayong napahiya. Kahit kaninong international singers mo itapat yan LIVE kaya niyang mag-adjust or mangabog depende sa mood niya. Haha! Honestly, yung mga nababasa kong name dito is NEITHER HERE NOR THERE! Hindi pwedeng puro papuri na lang, marami rin si regine niyan from 80s up to present. Give us legit numbers din! Album sales...concert attendance...awards na Hindi pang throwback lang. Lol! If magyayabang, dapat May NÚMERO din na alam Mong attributable talaga sa mga artists na nabanggit. Do not underestimate the power of Opera Singers. This is a great song for Gerphil. This might her signature piece for she nailed this song. Her voice is also really powerful and pleasing to hear unlike any other shouters out there. Regine's voice is really versatile and flexible. Very impressive singers.
Wow! we all know what Regine can do. This duet is epic and gave me goosebumps.. I love Gerphil's loud head tone which almost sounded as a chest-voice, like Regine normally does upon belting. This characteristic of Gerphil is an absolute ADVANTAGE because she can sing with any powerful belters at anytime even by just simply using her head tone....She probably has the highest range of all the classical Filipino singers I have ever heard. She has the same range with my favorite broadway singer Kristin Chenoweth (a coloratura soprano)....

So generous of Regine to share stage with Gerphil. i cannot understand Gerphil fans who instead of trying to win regine fans to support Gerphil , have to bash Regine and risk antagonizing Regine's fans who in retaliation would naturally nix Gerphil despite her talent, to protect their original idol. Both singers are excellent in their own right, let us just support both of them. In the pop scene, Regine has nothing more to prove while Gerphil, in the Philippine classical setting, needs more work to reach the status of premier soprano Rachel Gerodias. In the Philippines, there is very limited market for classical singers. So if gerphil wants to be successful, she has to advise her fans to avoid getting the ire of fans of superstars like Regine. Only after David Foster's promise becomes a reality, that's the time when Gerphil fans can start bragging.

Regine is using pop backed with classical training. She took formal lessons via UST's Conservatory of Music. Gerphil has yet a long way to go to be classified as an opera singer. She is good and is still learning her craft. And to say that David Foster's comments should be the basis of being a good singer/vocalist is absolutely absurd. Regine does not need Mr. Foster's comments. Michel Legrand is a bigger name, with countless recognitions from all over the world, who was in awe upon hearing Regine open her mouth. He was amazed with Regine's extraordinary technique to execute his songs which are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT pieces. Regine didn't last in the music industry for nothing. Do some research before commenting so you won't look stupid.

Prince Rayman not favour for that duet. I like gerphil to sing that song on her own coz she has a powerful voice. I watched her in AGT. She is really very good in Classical songs and has a strong operatic voice.
Mària Shaw I've seen Gerphil too on AGT and I must say I was really impressed. This wasn't her best, neither was it Regine's. Both of them can sing and give justice to this song on their own but they were limited for the sake of the show and at the same time being careful not to out-sing each other.

Do not underestimate the power of Opera Singers. This is a great song for Gerphil. This might her signature piece for she nailed this song. Her voice is also really powerful and pleasing to hear unlike any other shouters out there. Regine's voice is really versatile and flexible. Very impressive singers.

Wow! we all know what Regine can do. This duet is epic and gave me goosebumps..
I love Gerphil's loud head tone which almost sounded as a chest-voice, like Regine normally does upon belting. This characteristic of Gerphil is an absolute ADVANTAGE because she can sing with any powerful belters at anytime even by just simply using her head tone....She probably has the highest range of all the classical Filipino singers I have ever heard. She has the same range with my favorite broadway singer Kristin Chenoweth (a coloratura soprano)....

So generous of Regine to share stage with Gerphil. i cannot understand Gerphil fans who instead of trying to win regine fans to support Gerphil , have to bash Regine and risk antagonizing Regine's fans who in retaliation would naturally nix Gerphil despite her talent, to protect their original idol. Both singers are excellent in their own right, let us just support both of them. In the pop scene, Regine has nothing more to prove while Gerphil, in the Philippine classical setting, needs more work to reach the status of premier soprano Rachel Gerodias. In the Philippines, there is very limited market for classical singers. So if gerphil wants to be successful, she has to advise her fans to avoid getting the ire of fans of superstars like Regine. Only after David Foster's promise becomes a reality, that's the time when Gerphil fans can start bragging.

They're both wonderful and beautiful singers. That's where the comparison should stop. No one is better than the other in this duet presentation because they were not competing but complimenting each other's talent. No need to bash or defend. Just appreciate the talents of these two lovely ladies.

Such a pity to read stupid comments bashing Regine's style. Such a pity for those people who PRETEND to have the ear for good music.
Why compare Gerphil's tone to that of Regine's? Regine is using pop backed with classical training. She took formal lessons via UST's Conservatory of Music. Gerphil has yet a long way to go to be classified as an opera singer. She is good and is still learning her craft.
And to say that David Foster's comments should be the basis of being a good singer/vocalist is absolutely absurd. Regine does not need Mr. Foster's comments. Michel Legrand is a bigger name, with countless recognitions from all over the world, who was in awe upon hearing Regine open her mouth. He was amazed with Regine's extraordinary technique to execute his songs which are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT pieces.
Regine didn't last in the music industry for nothing. Do some research before commenting so you won't look stupid.
Look what david foster did to charice...at such young age, he pushed charice too much during her prime and now charice has lost it...i dont think foster is a good mentor at all!

Even at the age of 45, majority is still amazed to hear her live..desperately screaming? Legrand heard all the best singers philippines had to offer to match the works he created for the great Streisand, and sa huli't hulihan, si Regine pa rin pinili nya.
Regine was not forced onto Legrand. She was handpicked by him.
soulstar575 legrand was giving DETAILS on the quality of regine's voice and technique. He can say shes amazing or good or great but he chose to describe her voice and singing skills MORE ACCURATELY. Kung si LM yan baka umuwi agad si legrand at hindi na nagrepeat ng concert sa dami ng SABLAY na notes ni lani. hahaha! when it comes to consistency of tone and lyrcial singing, regine is the authority. si lani bagsak sa area na yan. she sounds confused when singing. patapon tapon ang mga notes at patigil-tigil kumanta. pang-las vegas bar and lounge lang talaga siya. lol

Regine is 45 years old and counting. She has been and will always be at the top of her craft as a power belter and concert artist across the globe. Gerphil on the other hand has all the potentials and has made the country truly proud with her incredible operatic vocal style.

Prince Rayman not favour for that duet. I like gerphil to sing that song on her own coz she has a powerful voice. I watched her in AGT. She is really very good in Classical songs and has a strong operatic voice.

I've seen Gerphil too on AGT and I must say I was really impressed.
This wasn't her best, neither was it Regine's. Both of them can sing and
give justice to this song on their own but they were limited for the
sake of the show and at the same time being careful not to out-sing each
