Ateneo Student you can’t tell if it’s a whistle just basing how high you can reach. There’s a big difference on the tone that separates each. I mean they are not connected so you would know.

The price of the tickets sold here ( if it even cost a penny) is just a partial of the price of the tickets if you go to a broadway show.. Truly, the audience in this stadium are very fortunate to get the chance to watch a world class performance for an affordable price.
As a 60+ Englishman living in France, I came across Gerphil a few weeks ago after her audition, when she was given the golden ticket. So I am neutral on everything except her voice, which is unbelievable. Listening to her again has finished off the best day of my life in France. [That is another story] I make some observations. She really is a child of the world in this day of instance global communication, and she crosses the bridge from Asia to Europe If she had been on any other talent show she would never have been discovered the way she has been. In David Foster [Canadian] who has produced some of the biggest stars in the world, mostly American, she has the best chance possible. Also he will be able to open doors that as an Asian appearing in the USA she could never open as they are very inward looking musically unless they are endorsed by a very well known American. Think Susan Boyle [Ellen Degeneres] etc German hair colouring - the majority are dark haired. [Look up their world cup team].As a passing note the blonde gene is a weak gene and is projected to die out within a century. The only blondes will have dyed hair. A lot do now. The only other comparable singer is Jonathan [Antoine] who was discovered on Britains Got Talent and has been talked of as the next Pavarotti, still only 19. If you want to know how Americans behave watch the TH-cam video of him singing in USA even though he was introduced by David Foster. So be proud of your nationality but just glory in the fact that, hopefully, the World will discover her. She deserves to be. On a different note try Dani Im [S.Korean/Australian] who is an out an out entertainer, and deserves to be on the world stage. Only singer I know who has a PhD [higher university degree] and can sing anything, just about [classical, jazz, pop, rock - but not rap, well not that I know of, thank God] I also ask will anyone remember the actual winners in five ten years time? Jil Lima I agree! In all candor, and at the risk of sounding irreverent, I think Gerphil's performance easily surpasses the performances of other similar cross-over/classical artists (e.g. Paul Potts, Susan Boyle, Rhydian Roberts, Jackie Evancho) in the finals of a major talent/singing contest. She really pulled out all the stops on this performance and had the courage to go for those high and sustained notes.

For me, two factors contributed to make this a truly outstanding performance. First was the way the song was arranged that enabled Gerphil to showcase her vocal technique and range from the very start, then bringing it to dramatic climax at the end with those high and sustained notes, while in between demonstrating that she could sing both in the lyrical as well as bravura style. And doing all of this within the 2 minutes given to her. The second factor was the powerful stage presence she projected throughout the entire performance. As Vanness Wu said, she took control of the stage and captivated the audience. I can tell much planning and practice went into this magnificent performance. Brava!

I can't stop replaying this girls singing. She took me on a trip looking for that DREAM, but all along it was the DREAM that was singing the song. The series of notes at the end of the song lifted me from mother Earth and propelled me into the Heavens to look for your dream. She has the world at her fingertips.......go get it girl. I hope you come to Edmonton, Canada some day. I will be in the front row of your show for sure. I know the other group won, but to me this was the winning act.

To hit those 4 octaves @ 2:13 - 2:26 perfectly is just incredible. And David who cannot conceal his exuberance by standing and pointing to Gerphil while seemingly saying "more, more,more", by making that emphatic promise are signs that Gerphil is a superstar in the making.

About Kris and AiAi: The Bad: They crushed Gerphil's spirit in PGT by choosing the other competitor, who sang a pop song out of tune and pretty much disregarded Gerphil's talent, saying she should stop singing classics and sing something more her age. The Good: Gerphil did not let this faze her and she swore she would never to stop singing classics because it's who she is. It was also after her loss in PGT that she enrolled as a student in UP Bachelor of Music, which of course helped make her the greater singer she is today. The other good: Kris or was that AiAi advised her to choose a song that would connect to the audience. For AGT, she chose well-known classics and sang it in opera style, which worked very well in her favor. The worst: In "Aquino and Abunda Tonight", hosted by Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda respectively, they discussed the Filipino AGT finalists, mentioning Gwyneth, El Gamma and JNS, but never once mentioned Gerphil, obviously by Kris's design so she could save face. The absolute worst: mentioned by +Theo Serr and I quote: "the worst part was aside from picking the other mediocre singer as the winner, which she should have deserved, the greatest insult was ai-ai and kris said that she should stop singing classics and use her looks to succeed instead. i can only imagine how infuriating it was for gerphil that she burst into tears when she heard that." The nerve!!! Clearly, their view of talent is so shallow!

As a 60+ Englishman living in France, I came across Gerphil a few weeks ago after her audition, when she was given the golden ticket. So I am neutral on everything except her voice, which is unbelievable. Listening to her again has finished off the best day of my life in France. [That is another story]
I make some observations.
She really is a child of the world in this day of instance global communication, and she crosses the bridge from Asia to Europe
If she had been on any other talent show she would never have been discovered the way she has been. In David Foster [Canadian] who has produced some of the biggest stars in the world, mostly American, she has the best chance possible. Also he will be able to open doors that as an Asian appearing in the USA she could never open as they are very inward looking musically unless they are endorsed by a very well known American.
Think Susan Boyle [Ellen Degeneres] etc
German hair colouring - the majority are dark haired. [Look up their world cup team].As a passing note the blonde gene is a weak gene and is projected to die out within a century. The only blondes will have dyed hair. A lot do now.
The only other comparable singer is Jonathan [Antoine] who was discovered on Britains Got Talent and has been talked of as the next Pavarotti, still only 19. If you want to know how Americans behave watch the TH-cam video of him singing in USA even though he was introduced by David Foster.
So be proud of your nationality but just glory in the fact that, hopefully, the World will discover her. She deserves to be.
On a different note try Dani Im [S.Korean/Australian] who is an out an out entertainer, and deserves to be on the world stage. Only singer I know who has a PhD [higher university degree] and can sing anything, just about [classical, jazz, pop, rock - but not rap, well not that I know of, thank God]

In all candor, and at the risk of sounding irreverent, I think Gerphil's performance easily surpasses the performances of other similar cross-over/classical artists (e.g. Paul Potts, Susan Boyle, Rhydian Roberts, Jackie Evancho) in the finals of a major talent/singing contest. She really pulled out all the stops on this performance and had the courage to go for those high and sustained notes.

For me, two factors contributed to make this a truly outstanding performance. First was the way the song was arranged that enabled Gerphil to showcase her vocal technique and range from the very start, then bringing it to dramatic climax at the end with those high and sustained notes, while in between demonstrating that she could sing both in the lyrical as well as bravura style. And doing all of this within the 2 minutes given to her. The second factor was the powerful stage presence she projected throughout the entire performance. As Vanness Wu said, she took control of the stage and captivated the audience. I can tell much planning and practice went into this magnificent performance. Brava!

I think many pop singers can hit that note, but the way Gerphil delivered it is just exceptional.
About Kris and AiAi:
The Bad: They crushed Gerphil's spirit in PGT by choosing the other competitor, who sang a pop song out of tune and pretty much disregarded Gerphil's talent, saying she should stop singing classics and sing something more her age.
The Good: Gerphil did not let this faze her and she swore she would never to stop singing classics because it's who she is. It was also after her loss in PGT that she enrolled as a student in UP Bachelor of Music, which of course helped make her the greater singer she is today.
The other good: Kris or was that AiAi advised her to choose a song that would connect to the audience. For AGT, she chose well-known classics and sang it in opera style, which worked very well in her favor.
The worst:
In "Aquino and Abunda Tonight", hosted by Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda respectively, they discussed the Filipino AGT finalists, mentioning Gwyneth, El Gamma and JNS, but never once mentioned Gerphil, obviously by Kris's design so she could save face.
The absolute worst: mentioned by +Theo Serr and I quote: "the worst part was aside from picking the other mediocre singer as the winner, which she should have deserved, the greatest insult was ai-ai and kris said that she should stop singing classics and use her looks to succeed instead. i can only imagine how infuriating it was for gerphil that she burst into tears when she heard that."
The nerve!!! Clearly, their view of talent is so shallow!
