Can't wait for you to do the next album, Disco Volante, that will really freak you out!
...and if you are going to split in 3 parts again I recommend 1-4, 5-8 and 9-12 with the last being the longest, 70 min in total. Lots to discuss, trust me...and there's 2 hidden songs (kind of) included and accounted for.

Heidi-ho! 🙂Further down the carnival we go!😁😄🙂🙃 So, what's cookin' here (the temperature is more than sufficient imo😅):
    1. Egg - you have ska, circus music, metal, noise, new-wave, funk, a small dosage of rap, punk, avant-jazz... is it good for now?😀Oh, but no... There's a bits and pieces of county-blues parody, death-metal parody and that legendary "There's no place like home" The Wizard of Oz parody...with Patton's laughter of boredom at the very end.😂 An incredible song to depict oedipal and self-confidence issues inside a family turmoil. As it's being said before, there are sound gapes between the songs on this album (and the next one) and on Egg, it's the early audio record of these guys jumping on the top of the train heading to the city next to their own Eureka - that was their secret fun in their youth days!😀
    2. Stubb (a Dub) - well, you got yourself a crazy ride through the circus music, ska, contemporary waltz, but also the reggae, euro-techno-beat, latino beats, rhumba, samba and such...and yes, you were right - there's no guitar on this song!😃Most of the guys play the keyboards which are many in front of them, both in the studio and alive, on concerts.🙂😉🙃Needless to say that it makes them the multi-instrumentalists.😎The song talks about Trey's dog Stubb who was about to die at that point. It was a reflection on topics of life and death, it meant a lot to him so he wrote this goodbye song for his dear pet. It ironically describes the significance of being around people, being who you are to your last breath, even if you're a dog...😎😔😏 The song ends with the audio insert from David Lynch's movie "Blue Velvet", were a boy, the lead role, is crying over the women in blue velvet dress he could not help being held and mistreated by a local gangster, showing desperate, but utmost love and care for her, with some nice and dark Mr.Bungle jazz bass and clean guitar non-metal tapping over it - as an intro for the next musical piece...🙂 And boy - is that piece a loud one, on contrary to this one! 😃So, if anyone ever tells you the song without a guitar can't be a crazy banger, Mr. Bungle is always here to prove the opposite.😀
    3. My Ass is on Fire - And it leads us to this incredible piece of music, a song that, by all, wares the glorious title of so-called "clown core" musical genre at it's best and it's very essence!🙂Where all the guitars were missing in the previous song, it seems like they found there best place on this one! 😀They are crushing and devouring everything on their path, making way for the significant musical discoveries and the lyrical solutions.🙂This song is an obvious hoarstone of the future Nu-metal subgenre - with it's dangerous and contaging groove, goofy non-metal sounds (clown horns, sound effects and turn-table at some point, domesticated with such bands like Slipknot, Limp Bizkit or Linkin Park) and with the lyrics that turned attention from "the glory, epic battles..." and "plainly smashing stuff with demons in hell and so...." to the intricate personal relationships between two and more people in a search for a significant, emotional common ground... Now, there's a difference between Nu-metal lyrical "formula" and Mr. Bungle's "M.A.i.o.F".... Nu-metal more often finds fans through the topics of emotional forgiveness, also depicting various dark issues on this path. It sounds thoroughly in some psychological sense, but it often brings the heavy layers of some whining, all-complaining, non-manish personal attitude, on a brink of a pathetic, self-explanatory self-sufficiency. Mr. Bungle, in this crucial, proto "Nu-metal" song, however, puts this attitude on the pillar of shame! The subject (Patton) addresses to his "friend" in lyrics as to someone who had put the shame on both of them by not telling the exact (emotional) truth to him, for which he now suffers as a hypocrite in his (Patton's) eyes. That means that both of them knew from the start "The Third Part" - what is good, correct and true, but his friend tried to twist and hide that truth behind his back, so that Patton's only left to state: "You knew all along, goddamnit, but you wouldn't tell me...Well look at you now !!!!" 😉😃 This is radically different from all future lyrical achievements of Nu-metal, throwing all The Pathetics throughout the window right at the start and leaving the core of misunderstanding and the higher acknowledgment right under the microscope! The pathetics are redundant noise in a relationships of men and women, so the band makes fun of this fact by endlessly repeating word "Redundant!" (Patton's voice) along with "Boring!" (other band members voices from the back) - all the way to the very chaotic and noisy end!... 🙂 And that's the way a cheerful, easy-listening clown-core band deals with it....😁😄😅 It's their woman in blue velvet dress....🙂😎
Thanks for this part, looking forward for the last one...Bye. 😉🙃🙂

Yeah, Korn has stated that Mr. Bungle strongly influenced them (and the nu-metal genre in general). Slipknot was also influenced by Bungle.

Munkey, the Korn's guitarist, had said that the most profound impact on him actually held Mr. Bungle with "My Ass is on Fire". 😉Namely - it was the guitar riffs at the beginning of this song, that pseudo-jazz-metal or new-wave punk incomprehensible finger magistry of Trey Spruance that went by turns with heavy distortion and without it - clean and wacky.🙂🙃This thing blew him away, from that instance he knew how he wanted to sound in Korn on his instrument.🥸🧐😎 As for Slipknot, mehh... In their first demo in 1996. they basically ripped-off Mr. Bungle's playing with classical jazz on "Disco Volante", let alone their stage looks - I think that's the lamest and most unoriginal thing those kids by that time could have ever done... and they made such a stupid and self-sufficient market out of the friggin' masks.🤣😝🤑 That makes me sick...😏😆😎

Mr Bungle for the kids 😂 🤣
Fun Fact: this June Mr Bungle celebrated first United Kingdom headliner in 24 years 😝
The interesting aspect about this record is that you maybe need to have an ear for music to completely enjoy this, to fully appreciate it's content and the talent to shift genres effortlessly, Back at 1991, this was the kind of record that I was desperately wanting to hear, but I tought there was nothing like it. Many different and disparate styles - from metal to jazz - collide on every track, but this is far from being an anarchic record. Actually, after some spins, it sounds quite accessible, No other band portrays insanity the way Mr Bungle does. The self-titled is probably their most insane outing. There is a general circus theme in the songs, hence the album art, It provides a great avenue for people to get into experimental music, as a lot of great ideas are thrown up and tinkered with, but without sounding too withdrawn or 'noisy' Having refined their sound with a range of rare cassette-only releases, Mr Bungle's debut album sees them establish themselves as the most terrifying force in avant-garde alternative metal. Unlike, say, Slipknot or Insane Clown Posse, Bungle never let their mask/clown fixation cross the line into the cartoonish, ensuring that they remained a sinister and enigmatic presence at their live gigs of the time. After a bunch of hilarious demo's, Mr Bungle jump to scene to release their debut right between the Faith No More albums. The result is a more advanced yet flawed evolution of their previous demo, combining the Death Metal of the first plus the funk and ska influences of the second and third. Plus John Zorn steps in the production booth to add the more free jazz influence. Technically its top notch, the playing is superb, and the albums is as crazy as Ash in Evil Dead 2. We get the speedy technical satire of Naked City, Dead Kennedy's and Zappa fused with the goofy Speedcore groups like Spazztic Blurr. What I don't dig as much is the abundance of carnival music sweeping into the jamming, so Carousel, Stubb, and Dead Goon are total filler. Other songs are also inconsistant. Still this is one of the more remarkable albums to come out of the alt/prog metal explosion of the late 80's/90's. Recommended. Fave blasts include Slowly Growing Deaf, Squeeze Me Macaroni, My Ass is on fire, and Love Is a Fist. A solid and energetic debut by one of the 90s most idiosyncratic rock groups. The group unleash their concoction of Frank Zappa and... Blue Velvet. The 1st song of the album quote-unquote(originally called Travolta) is an unnatural metal jazz fusion filled with weird sound effects that hits hard. For the first 0:32 seconds, you hear nothing but snoring but at 0:33 you hear some glass break and then the musical madness ensues! Sadly I don’t know what this song was about and can’t come up with anything except high on drugs. The 2nd song Slowly Growing Deaf starts with a short but happy sounding instrumental that lasts for 4 seconds in the beginning but comes backs 3 more times during the song. The bass tone, along with the drums and guitar sound so beautiful in the cheerful part of this song. After the four seconds of cheeriness, the mood changes to a dark and depressing tone and it’s spectacular. Mike’s vocal on this track is outstanding! The grimness ends around 1:33 and it goes back to that beautiful cheerful mood in the beginning and when the song reaches 1:44 the tone switches to a doo-wop beach boys vibe and I love it a lot! Then it goes back to “normal” with the beautiful cheerful tone again and then it stops. Then you will hear video game samples thrown in there and then it goes back to the weird type of metal part again and it ends with a sample of 2 individuals using the restroom! I know it’s gross. The meaning behind this one was very interesting. It was inspired by the ironic need to wear earplugs while listening to music and also people’s inability to listen according to their bassist Trevor Dunn The 3rd song Squeeze Me Macaroni, is a funk metal masterpiece with some hardcore punk and metal vibes thrown in there with a sprinkle of horns saxophones, and weird groans. The music transitions on this song is fab! I’m pretty sure you can assure me what this song is about. The 4th song Carousel is circus music with lots of horns and saxophones that switches to surf music and back. This one is filled with lots of weird noises and a sample of an Announcer at some carnival tells people to hurry and ride the carousel. The song’s main focus is about a Carousel with some lyrics mentioning their record contract with Warner Brothers at the time and clowns. I find it pretty fascinating and funny. The 5th song Egg is 10 mins and 39 seconds long!! This one I consider to be one of the harder songs from this album to listen to cause its genre swaps every so often. Swapping from ska/funk/metal/surf it’s so in your face, I appreciate that about this band a lot :) There are some references about the Wizard of Oz and I find that very interesting. Also, Mike’s vocals on this track were all over the place and it’s beautiful. The 6th song Stubb A Dub is a sad song about guitarist Trey Spruance’s dog dying. When his dog died Spruance refused to believe his dog was dead which is shown in the lyrics and the music until at the end of the song the character of Trey and his dog who Mike were singing about finally comes to term with his dog being dead. It’s a sad realization. The beginning of the song reminds you of a funeral and then it Switches to some weird circus underground and the music gets harder and faster and then it calms down and sounds like something you would have heard at a jazz concert or something. The 7th song My Butt Is On Fire is another one of those “high on drugs” songs, with the metal and horns instrumental giving you something to wonder about. I can’t make heads or tails about the lyrics besides Mike singing about his butt on fire but it’s an outstanding song either way. The 8th Song is very descriptive about certain topics that I won’t talk about cause it’s very gross and disturbing. I won’t even say the title of the song. I appreciate the music behind it though. It starts as hard rock then jazz and funk and the cycle starts all over again. The 9th song Love Is A Fist is a weird song about Domestic violence and the samples in this one are very annoying and funny. The music is just some metal and horns together. The 10th and final song Dead Goon is about asphyxiophilia. The music behind this song is very obscure and diverse but very hard to listen to and enjoy. I don’t know what the lyrics were about. Everyone who participated in this colossal record should be given a medal, several medals, a tsunami of trophies and praise. Including every single person that aided in the production, and any other soul that indirectly helped in the creation of Mr. Bungle. However, if I had to single one person who made Mr. Bungle a titan of true music, I would always pick Mike Patton. Where do you even begin...? Mr. Bungle wouldn't be Mr. Bungle if Mike Patton wasn't here and this is definitely his best performance ever. A wild album like Mr. Bungle needed a wild vocalist, but not just any wild vocalist, it needed someone that knew how to be wild in the right measures and it needed someone that wasn't scared of letting everything out, someone with a crazy range, someone who wanted to do something new and fresh and original. In short, it absolutely needed Mike Patton, and absolutely no one could replace him and deliver a performance of the same caliber. Mr. Bungle's major label debut is an experience to say the least. In an era when skipping tracks for hours and hours was impossible (without a 100 CD changer), these guys made it their point to do as much with their music as they could. It's not a perfect album, but it succeeds overall. Mostly due to the commitment to the absurdity of it all. I think Mr. Bungle say a lot more about their craft on this LP than they do on future ones. This is them giving the finger to the norm and having a smiling while doing it. They're taking the music seriously, but they know that there's no need for them to do that. It's somehow unusual knowing that these six people made this, due to the whacked-out genre mixing, chaotic changes in time signatures, and overall quirkiness. You'd think that these guys were multi-instrumentalists (even though that is true for the next two albums). What i would call the "sonic aesthetic" that is associated with this album is extremely exciting and ambitious, and after hearing Mr Bungle compared to some other artists i love, I was hype as hell to listen. In the early 90's, before the Internet was really even available, something like this coming within my grasp by reaching a major record label would have blown my mind. But I now have access to the band's later works, Zorn's, and much weirder things besides. Mike Patton and the rest of his side project didn’t want the world to know his was the familiar face in Faith No More, he sported a Mr. Bungle shirt in one of their videos. But, now it seems as if Mr. Bungle had a change of heart. For many a year it seemed as if Patton treated Mr. Bungle like a stepchild. Collaborating with it only when he had the time. But now things are a little different. Patton has finally completely adopted Mr. Bungle…wholeheartedly. “Bungle is pretty much a priority for all of us,”. It's difficult for a listener coming to the album in a modern sense to appreciate just how avant-garde the band's self-titled album was in '91, and how remarkable it is that it got released on a major label. Since a ton of bands from later or earlier years who were equally (or more) experimental than Mr. Bungle also have crossed into the mainstream. Honestly, half of their catalog could be considered "Nightmarish". LOL.

Mr. Bungle would’ve been better if they were less pretentious, more underground and recorded with shitty Lofi production or low quality production. High produced or high production that’s top-tier, and recording music like this will just make it sound cheesy and laughable and not really serious but diffrent and bizarre and laughable (in the good way) at the same time.
