6 minute mark blew my mind! All these years 🤯 Also I love that watching this 7 years post production, the record player quip is still relevant 😄 unless your a hipster. Thanks for taking the time to show us all how to.
Thank you! How nice to see someone go right to the point of the matter! With so many rambling TH-cam videos out there, that was refreshing. And thank you for having an extra person to film your step by step instead of trying to hold a camera with one hand lol. Gathering the extra fabric was a huge tip and I feel like I can move on from straight line serging now :-)
This is one of the best technical instructions on how to maneuver those tough areas to serge I've found. Pulling slack on the threads for corners is brilliant and very helpful for home decor. I've have also seen to clip in diagonally 3/8" on an inner corner to make the finished line straighter. Thank you so much for this video. I've been overlocking for 2 decades and I learned several new things!
I've taken two overlocker/serger courses and I can't believe neither of them even mentioned these essential skills. Thank you! This will solve the problems I've had with messy edges, so I'm off to practise now.
I just purchased a serger and was TRYING to do curves today. Googled it and there you were. This was perfect. Thank you so much for putting this together. You make it look simple and easy. I now know I can master this after watching you! Again, thank you, thank you!
You may have made this back in 2014 but I'm just catching up with this now. Margaret, this is by far the best lesson I've had on how to handle curves and corners that I've ever had. Never before at lessons I've had have they been so informative. Thank you so much. I needed to know this. I am beginning to realise just how little I do actually know about my overlocker even though I went for lessons. I'm looking forward to learning more.
love this. helped me a lot. your voice is calm. your nails are well done and not distracting, your camera worker was fab.. very informative would like to see more of your tricks/secrets of serging.
Thanks! Cut out the shapes you suggested and added a full circle. The techniques you showed worked very very well. Found this tutorial after I struggled with finishing a rounded hem and decided I needed to learn the basics. Thanks a bunch and greetings from the Netherlands!
I thought you did a great job. Easy to understand , you didn't go too fast or too slow. I tried to see if it showed why 7 people gave you a thumbs down because I have no clue why someone would think this video deserved a thumbs down ?!? I did not read down to see if anyone else gave a lot of the credit to your camera person. Did a SUPER Job of keeping the camera focused on what she was focusing on...great teamwork. Another great thing this lady does is as she is talking she is also using her hands and or anything that happens to be in her hands at the time to point out the area of the fabric or the machine that she is talking about so you don't have to guess what she is referring to. Thanks...great job.
+Te Boz Thank you so very much for your lovely comments. It was a family/team effort. This was our very first go at a TH-cam video and we are very proud of this one. We appreciate your feedback. Happy Sewing!!!!! :) :) :)
The only criticism I would have is that although the focal point of the camera work was good, the camera itself was quite shaky. Otherwise, I agree that this is a great tutorial video all around! For once I get to see a good before-during-after!
It's super hard to hold a video camera steady even with the stabilizer option on. You have to use a tripod. Downside....it really limits the angles you can film without constantly stopping and starting. Then you have to spend a ton of time editing
Jumping for joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had this exact type of inside corner on a pattern I drafted for seat cushion covers. The tears I cried! Nothing I did worked no matter how many times I tried to sew it with my Sewing Machine! I see that you posted this lesson in 2014, but it wasn't anywhere I searched on TH-cam. Thank you dear, dear Lady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This video saved my mind! I’ve been searching for these answers forever! Thank you for the simple easy-to-follow instructions! Please make more serging videos!
Thank you for taking the time to make such a wonderful video. I have never been happy with how to start and end overlocking in the round and have always veered off at the end which leaves an uneven, wonky edge. The method demonstrated towards the end of the video is fantastic and so neat!
Wow! I’ve always been scared of my old Elena that I purchased second hand. Always failed at curves. With your instruction right next to me ,I did an outside curve AND an inside curve perfectly on my FIRST SHOT. YOU ARE AWESOME. YOU MADE MY DAY. 💪
Thank you. My mother made clothes, piece work, and was paid accordingly - so her work was fast. She taught me all I know. But at 66, you have taught me finesse... Thank you so much for this excellent video as I have learned so much.
WOW!!! Thank you soooooooo much for this video! I have owned a serger for many years and I never knew how to go around inside curves and do corners. I was amazed to see how you showed us how to go off the edge! Now I can enjoy my serger even more!
Margaret Margaret Margaret, I can't thank you enough! Every new serger should include a reference to your TH-cam video. This was VERY informative, and EASY to understand. Thanks again!
OMG that's absolute genious! Have not seen such good overlocker instruction before. Sewing around curves and corners has always been a mystery to me. Thank you for sharing so generously.
I think this has been the best instruction on how to turn corners that I’ve seen. It may take a little more fidgeting than other videos show, but I do not like having a lot of threads to bury. Very professional look. Thank you!
Have been struggling with curves on a baby bib, and watched several videos to try to suss it- this one is by far the best, clearly explained and easy to watch. Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful work! Mystery solved ! I have taught myself to sew by watching you tube tutorials like yours and this is by far the best I have found on serging curves and corners. Thank you so much! You might not think you are doing much but you are teaching me how to sew. Thank you for your time and dedication! Thank you! Thank you!
Wow!With the cutting blade being a centimetre in front of the needles, always battled going around curves and corners, the needles never following in line with the cutter. Now, with finger pleating the fabric to make a straight line, it all makes sense. A very professional video, clear instructions with good visuals and at a perfect pace. Thanks Margaret, hope you do more videos like this.
Margaret, you did a great job showing those serging techniques . They look so professional looking. Thank You so much because I love my serger and always wanting to learn something new.
Such a great tutorial. I have made so many mistakes in the past couple of months and wish I'd found your videos first. Now I'm going back and watching them all. Thank you.
This is the GUARANTEED BEST Overlock & Serger video I have ever watched by far. Thankyou so much so detailed & informative. I feel much more confidante after watching thankyou.
Fantastic tutorial! By far the best tips I have seen. Avoided my Babylock serger because of how hard it is to sew curves. Now I cant wait to practice. Thank you!
If there was a LOVE button, I would click that. This is like my 6th video I've watched this morning on doing corners, and finally after watching this one I have successfully serged a nice looking corner. Thank you so much!!!
OMG I have been using a serger for over 25 years and no one ever told me how to finish off a seam as this video did. I thank you as does my sewing projects. I stopped doing fashion work, however my crafts need the professional look as well. TY again. From Texas
There are at least 2 other ways to finish off the end of the chain that don't involve using any needle, tool. I will try to find the links if you want. It's a bit tricky, but much faster
Very helpful instruction. I've used a serger for a long time but only the basic stuff. Thank you for taking your time explaining and showing me more ways to use it. Look forward to more of these type tutorials.
Thank you for your videos. The overlocker tips you share are so helpful. I can't tell you how many times I lopped off the corner trying to serge around it! I regurlarly refer to your videos for serger instruction even though I'm a lifelong sewer. Personally, I don't understand the criticism of the video production. I'm grateful that others take time to share helpful info. Maybe those who want to knit pick something offered for free should pay for sewing classes!
Hi Margaret, Just wanted to thank you. I have been searching youtube for 30 mins and can't find anything on overlocking/serging hidden side pockets on a skirt. So with the techniques you have shared in this video, I'm sure I will be able to finish my pockets and the rest of my maternity jumper dress :-D Warm regards from Brissie, Hayley F
I'm so glad I could help. In fact, pockets used to get me unstuck too! I used to overcast them on my machine because I could not stay on the fabric with the overlocker. I wish someone could have shown me this technique many years ago. Keep sewing! Regards Margaret
WOW GREAT DEMO you really helped me after all these years on my serger with corners and curves. Plus ending stitches and hiding the end of thread. Saving this video to watch many times to remember LOLOL Gods blessings to you. I have an 8 thread Baby Lock Serger and boy it does get confusing at times but my biggest challenge has been curves, corners (for placemats, etc.) and ending the sewing.
Awesome!! I have been running off the ends and tucking everything but wanted to know how to go all the way around a project and leave only one tail to tuck. Such a time saver! Thanks!!
Don't you just love TH-cam. 😀 This was so helpful I too have been overlooking for years and just thought while having lunch if anyone could help with those tricky bits. Much appreciated. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you so much. I just got my first serger and the class was rescheduled and I really needed to learn how to make curves for a time sensitive project.
AMAZING STUNNING FANTASTIC. THANKYOU. So many great tips. Perhaps even on a sewing machine this technique will be helpful. Pleating in curves or at sharp points is an UNBELIEVABLE technique. Oh wow! Wow, this was excellent. I have not had my new serger for very long and you answered so many questions I had and I'm sure would have had. Thank you Thank you :)
Thank you! This has to be the most helpful serger lesson I have ever seen! (After threading, which gets a bad rep; b/c it's not any harder than threading a sewing machine four times. Really.) Thanks for taking the time to do this. Even serger books don't give these tricks for doing inside curves & corners. And the neat ending. Now I feel like I can serge anything! :-)
Really? Maybe it depends on your brand of serger. I can thread any of my sewing machines in seconds. The two looper threads on my serger require the tweezers, and take 4 times as long, each. On a good day.

Very, very helpful. Good close ups (and no loud, annoying background music overpowering your voice). I'm going to be making many reusable sanitary pads which have four internal corners each, so I now have a much better idea how to approach this task. Thanks again.
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I'm making my sister a knit jacket with pockets, and those L shaped corners around the pockets were the most frustrating thing I've ever tried to serge. This is an extremely clear and helpful tutorial that made something extremely difficult totally doable.
Brilliant video. I love my coverlock 4 but inside curves have been dreadful and I couldn't make them better. Now I have seen this expert tutorial I can see how to improve. I have learnt so much from your coverlock videos - made using the machine so simple. Thank you
that is such a helpful video. i am new to using a serger, and this tutorial has answered several big questions I had while i was experimenting/exploring/playing with our serger. thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much.I bought myself an overlocker quite a while now..never used one before so I am nervous in case I damage something in the process.my brand is Brother..I will be keeping an eye out for more videos..I did inquire about courses but it’s far away and inconvenient.Having looked at your video gives me the incentive to get a move on..
Someone give this nice lady an award!!! Thank you so much, ma'am! You're a god-send! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
One of the first overlocker videos I’ve seen that has a combination of clear and cogent instruction with properly filmed visuals. Thank you so much!

Very helpful instruction. I've used a serger for a long time but only the basic stuff. Thank you for taking your time explaining and showing me more ways to use it. Look forward to more of these type tutorials.
This was an amazing tutorial! I've struggled with corners and curves for simple ages. Thank you so much for demystifying!
Out of all the videos I have watched yours was the best for doing corners. Thank you
What I wouldn't give to have a teacher like you! I just bought my first serger two weeks ago and this video is priceless!
So THAT's what I've been doing wrong all these years! THANK you Margaret. You rock.

You're sew clever Margaret! I love how you pleat the outer curve to make the inner curve straight - that blew me away! Thank for the tips.
Perfect tutorial • solved many of my serger questions • thank you 💕
I've had a serger for 10 yrs and struggled with turns and curves! Thank you, now I can master them....
Best serger demo ever! thank you!
Very nice job of going step-by-step on each turn. Repeating through a piece provided an opportunity to really absorb the techniques. Thanks very much
Fantastic video. Thank you. So nice to be able to learn from someone halfway around the world from me!
This lady knows her stuff.....THANK YOU!!!!
Great demo, no techy terms and a great speed - easy to follow.

Hello I am new to the serger and found it quite daunting but after watching your video I am eager to try again, you explained so well and I could see what you were doing very clearly.
Thank you so much
Margaret, Thank you so much! This is an excellent video of how to do corners and curves with a serger. Good Job!
I have never had something explained to me so clearly before! Thank you :)
WONDERFUL video- it took away so much mystery and set me on my way with these techniques. Far better than any overlocker manual!! Great teaching skills and I will be looking out for your other videos. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you soooooo much for the instruction on inside corners - pockets have been driving me crazy. This was brilliant.
Great video, I’ve always wanted to know how to do curves and shapes like these! Thank you.
Thanks so much Margaret, great tutorial. I was NEVER given lessons when I bought my first overlocker in the early 90's, I was given a crash course on how to drive it but not lessons on the fancy stuff.
I sew teeny little Angel burial gowns and you have just made my day. For years I have struggled with whizzing around corners at one hundred miles an hr pulling firmly and then hoping both sides are even without chopping big chunks out of the sides of things... 11.40pm and I just had to put you method to the test...I will need a little practice not to have little pleats in the corners but Oh what a relief...ty, ty, ty!
C'est le meilleur tuto que je ne jamais vu sur la surjeteuse, grand merci!!!!
Thanks Margaret....I am learning to use my overlocker and corners have been a challenge! Very clear video and instructions. Karen
Thank you so much. I just got my first serger and the class was rescheduled and I really needed to learn how to make curves for a time sensitive project.
EXCELLENT video the clearest I've seen and the most professional finish.
+Kate “The Literate Stitch” Moore Thank you, we are so happy you liked it. :)

I didnt wanna blink a second and I just held my breath until you went past that crucial point. MA'AM YOU ARE A BLESSING TO ME. You give me the desire to get to my overlocker. I've got a PFAFF. Hugs 👍👍👍👏👏👏🌞🌞🌞🍾🍾🍾🎅🎅🎅
This was the most useful thing I learned this month.
possibly THE most useful and valuable group of lessons I've seen. A big thank you!
Woohoo. Ya made my day with this one!
Whew!!
Corners and circles....here I come!
Thank ya darlin!

that is such a helpful video. i am new to using a serger, and this tutorial has answered several big questions I had while i was experimenting/exploring/playing with our serger.
thank you for sharing!
Very helpful tutorial. I needed some help for the tricky spots when serging and you answered my questions. Thank you very much!
Wonderful. Thank you. Very clear tutorial. Good pace, good descriptions and clear demonstration. Inspiring!
Fabulous! The results are beautiful. I've not used my serger to it's full potential due to my concerns serging these angles. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial, the best I've seen so far. Thanks so much for sharing
Jim coveI have tried (and failed) SO many times to do an inside corner and after watching your video for a couple of minutes... SUCCESS!!! Thank you!
This was so so helpful - I'm just starting out with my serger and corners completely stumped me but now I feel enlightened! Thank you!
I found this a very useful and instructive video, can so much. I'm very new to sergers, so every little helps

Wow wow wow, Easy to follow and well explained without unnecessary phaff.Thank you
