A nice building here, a nice building there; but overall, the city looks depressing.
The city was much more charming back in the 1970's.
The boulevard, with the Gaiety, the Monastery, and all those banks, was a much more attractive place.

I left St. Lucia almost 10 years ago and haven’t been back since. This video brings back so many memories but it’s depressing. The city looks even more run down than I remember. It needs an upgrade bad. Can’t believe Sams chicken van still in business 😂

My best friend just returned from St Lucia and he absolutely loved the island and especially the people ..
Road in a mess old buildings...side walks dont talk...Lots of talking by leaders ...nothing being done in Castries ...They asking help AD from every where ...Watch the town dirty .

Where is everyone? Back in the 80s & 90s Castries used to be overcrowded on Fridays and Saturdays.

I'm white, is it safe for me to visit St Lucia? I've recently seen news stories about shootings and stuff.
Totally, it's safe. The shootings are like in odd parts like every country of the world has unsafe off roads and small gangs. Tourism is St. Lucia's main industry... Tourists fly in and out daily, same as cruise ships and mega yachts...
