@Spiral Architect I totally disagree with you. I drove both cars and each of them was pleasant to drive on the street. I wouldn't put the IS-F above the M3 E92, sooner due to Lexus' limited budget to do something special, which can be seen from the fact that the car is not as balanced as the M3 or it doesn't have such a unique engine, I would put them lower, but it all depends on what you expect from the car. If you want a daily sports car, the M3 is a better choice, if you want a daily that is quick, but doesn't have to give you a racing feel and is more trouble-free, then the IS-F is a good choice. It all depends on what you expect and what your taste is, for me both are great cars
One of Lexus's best cars still. It's surprises me how so many people still picked an M3 over it. They held their value much better, and for good reason.
Just picked up mine in October and really do love it, even if it's an 08. They are gems in the used car market when you can find them for just under $30k, and only see them once a month if that compared to M/AMG cars. Very few issues with these and they make great daily drivers. Can't beat 21mpg combined/28mpg highway, and very easy maintenance schedule. I came from owning G37's, C5 Vette, Mini, Miata, WRX and a few other cars and have to say the F is my favorite. I do miss the manual life, but the 8 speed is surprisingly good and can be as easy as an LS/ES Lexus, or as quick and hard as any DSG. Perfect blend of luxury, performance, reliability and rarity. I do wish there was a wider aftermarket, but then again there were only like 5k of these made. Backseat is pretty small as well and I do feel the looks have dated a bit, but overall a great car compared to several new sports cars. Hell it's still slightly faster than a brand new Q50/Q60RS or 5.0 and isn't any slower than a brand new GSF. Check out my exhaust vid to see a clip of mine.
Nothing a front conversion can't fix. Switch out those tail lights add a rear diffuser and convert the front to the newer one and the car looks very modern

Great review Matt! One of the best cars Lexus has ever made, wish they still had something like this in their lineup. Although the majority with low miles still hold there value fairly well
LC500 is nice, but a car that competes with the 6 series coupe, which funny enough was just discontinued. GSF is nice for sure, but sadly not really any faster than the ISF, so it's odd in that respect, but a solid car nonetheless.
valdaviper1 it doesn't have to be faster than the IS F because it handles way better than the old IS F even with all that weight. RC F on the other hand is a disappointment.
valdaviper1 bruh car and driver isn't really a reliable source :/ their driver sucks. I'm hoping to see a LC F but I heard they aren't doing anything like that. Matt Doyle Yeah def a case of function over form, not good looking but it does the job, there are 2 attractive Lexus vehicles in history , the lfa and the newest Lexus coupe.
Puff the Magic Dragon the early 2000 gens of the is300 were some of the cleanest looking cars at the time and still beautiful imo. Had one that ran well over 200,000 miles, unfortunately a couple of goof ups put the cost of repairs too high to warrant keeping it.
I'd compare the LS 460 with the IS F as cars for everyday use. They are not in the same category but as the LS 460 is only one second slower to 60mph and similarly priced. Actually the IS F is holding its value more so the LS 460 is better value for money for used car buyers. The IS F is the cool fun car and the LS 460 is for the older gentleman.
By the way. Manufacturers are doing away with DCT's because they are not durable in the long haul. With the advancement of torque converters, manufactures will do away with DCT's shortly.
John D That particular tyranny is awesome. I tested a ls460 sport with it. the feedback is awesome from the locking torque converter. it really feels like a manual tyranny. Will trade my ls460 for the sport package soon as I find a low mileage car!
The steering is still an electric rack. The difference between the normal is and isf is the weights in the steering wheel behind the airbag and the computer
Love the ISF! I currently own an IS300 and I do want to eventually get an ISF in the future. Such amazing cars. Awesome review Matt! where are the t-shirts??? lol
I'm very impressed , if I were to add something I think you should like do a "can you own this " segment on your videos like the cost to own as far as gas and maintenance. It would give viewers more to consider if they were considering purchasing one.
Who would have thought that Toyota, boring slow Toyota of all companies, is one of the few manufacturers that still makes a naturally aspirated small block V8?
Hey Matt, unsure if you will see this but when you have the time is there anyway you could review a 2006-2013 Lexus IS350? I know its an older car but I am really considering getting one and have not found any good reviews on it (like yours). Cheers, I know you normally do newer cars as of late but thought I would ask.
Absolutely love the exterior, but I hate that interior. I get it that its a Toyota still but at first glance gives that corolla impression inside. But other than that still beautiful and V8 performance is sweet.
One of the best reviews of this car! Only things as mentioned below, the car does has EPS (electronic power steering) and the seats don’t fold down on the ISX50 models either. I absolutely agree that the steering feels hydraulic though. It’s really nice.
@subaruwrxfan do you prefer this over the E92 ///M3? I love the 8200 RPM redline, just wish the S65 motor had a little more torque. I'd consider the IS F if it came in manual transmission.
If the M3 didn't come with an Manual or DCT option I would take the ISF, I also think Lexus should really make a modern one I love how the 2017 is350s look with it V8 and that signature stacked exhaust that's a win for me
I hate hate hate how there are so many cars that are like "dude this car is so damn good buuuuutttttttt..." Like why dident they offer a Manual option 😭

They had to modify the frame and length the nose just to fit the v8 in, that's why the front end looks so bulgy and aggressive.
Rear seats do not fold down in the lexus is250/350 models either. They are fixed (and always a pain to take out too)
you: Lexus's
me, an intellectual: *Lexie*
Hey Matt, the F does use an electric rack. Same goes for the whole XE20 chassis IIRC.
The steering is still an electric rack. The difference between the normal is and isf is the weights in the steering wheel behind the airbag and the computer
kevinren10 does the electric feel lighter?
Love the ISF! I currently own an IS300 and I do want to eventually get an ISF in the future. Such amazing cars. Awesome review Matt! where are the t-shirts??? lol
I'm very impressed , if I were to add something I think you should like do a "can you own this " segment on your videos like the cost to own as far as gas and maintenance. It would give viewers more to consider if they were considering purchasing one.
Please don't stop turning on to those back roads , I live for that .
the front grill old style look most beautiful than new style coming up today
Although it’s an older car, I think I want to pick one up!
If I was blindfolded I could still tell it's an isf lmao... shifts quicker, sounds throatier....
The rear seats don't fold back in the regular IS. The back seats are also very cramped for me at 5'11.
The seats in the regular is250 or 350 from this generation do not fold down.
Who would have thought that Toyota, boring slow Toyota of all companies, is one of the few manufacturers that still makes a naturally aspirated small block V8?
Red interior, so rare 😍
Hey Matt, unsure if you will see this but when you have the time is there anyway you could review a 2006-2013 Lexus IS350? I know its an older car but I am really considering getting one and have not found any good reviews on it (like yours). Cheers, I know you normally do newer cars as of late but thought I would ask.
the interior is very "colorfulized" (1:43) .........cool new word I learned today.
been watching your videos now I'm subscriber I have a 2008 is350 great car and my wife has 2016 nx200t incredible suv. great videos
Absolutely love the exterior, but I hate that interior. I get it that its a Toyota still but at first glance gives that corolla impression inside. But other than that still beautiful and V8 performance is sweet.
One day... I must acquire an IS-F!
Faster than any subaru out of the factory.
The best Japanese 4 dour
One of the best reviews of this car! Only things as mentioned below, the car does has EPS (electronic power steering) and the seats don’t fold down on the ISX50 models either. I absolutely agree that the steering feels hydraulic though. It’s really nice.
Love the isf and the f sport models ... Lexus is killing the game
@subaruwrxfan do you prefer this over the E92 ///M3? I love the 8200 RPM redline, just wish the S65 motor had a little more torque. I'd consider the IS F if it came in manual transmission.
Hey Matt, 2nd Gen IS do not have fold down seats, including all the is250 and is350
Hey, since you've reviewed an RSX Type S before, you think you could review the Acura TL Type S?
Hey Matt- Any chance of a RC-F/Sport review on the horizon? One of the few new cars on the road that catches my eye every time!
I have been looking for almost a YEAR for an ISF....so hard to find down here in the true north
The exhaust is not fake, it's functional.
I have an is250 i love it, i would love to upgrade it to a ISF but I'm gonna wait patiently for an RCF instead. (Wait for that price drop lol)
If the M3 didn't come with an Manual or DCT option I would take the ISF, I also think Lexus should really make a modern one I love how the 2017 is350s look with it V8 and that signature stacked exhaust that's a win for me
I hate hate hate how there are so many cars that are like "dude this car is so damn good buuuuutttttttt..."
Like why dident they offer a Manual option 😭
I wouldn't want this in manual. 8 speeds is much better with this engine and power. I have a S2000 when I need to drive a manual.
08 models with 80k miles will run you close to $30k here. I have a 07 is350 and would kill for a 2010+ isf 😭
Love this car, I hope to add this one with my 2nd gen GS300
