      I'm going for the first time to Kona Hawaii in two weeks for my honeymoon. My husband to be is excited about snorkeling... I am a little embarrassed asking this but...I have never been snorkeling before and I am a little nervous about sharks or rays? I think the movies throughout the years ruined it for me. Is it pretty safe? :) I'm trying to be a good sport for my hubby... and the video you took It really is pretty.

      You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed the video. This is Craig responding. KJ always hopes to see a shark, so he's probably not the best one to answer this question. HaHa. I (Craig) am also a little scared of sharks and rays, but to be honest - I've never seen one while snorkeling. I was scared to go at first, but relaxed as I did it more. There are still times when water is rough, or when it's too deep of water, that I am uncomfortable... but that's the water - not wildlife! The truth is that the guides who take you out to snorkel generally know the best areas to keep you safe. Also, many of the places where tourists snorkel are frequented multiple times a day are too noisy for sharks and larger sea animals. The motors and splashing of people all day long have driven a lot of creatures out of the area. I have seen rays and a harmless lemon shark (once) and they pretty much ignore you, or curiously check you out then move on. The deep water is far more of a concern to me than the wildlife. LOL.

      Thank you for your feedback! It truly is a great tour. Check out Pride of Maui's facebook page too. They do a great job sharing video from the area & the excursion! (we are not sponsored by them... it's just a good facebook page whether you are going there or not!). I'm glad it helped. Have a great time!

    Awesome video! I'm actually headed to Maui next month. I am not a strong swimmer...do they offer life jackets and such?

    • @TrulyRemarkableLife
      @TrulyRemarkableLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I remember correctly, yes they do. I would contact them ahead of time to double check.
      But also know this - you are ALOT more bouyant in salt water than fresh water and you will float without trying to. A life jacket may be a good idea for you, but just keep in mind your bouyancy so that may help alleviate any nervousness.
      Let us know how it goes! :-)

    Great video! My wife and I are headed there in about 20 days and I am excited for us to take this tour! What camera did you use for the snorkeling bits? and did you have a filter on it?

    • @TrulyRemarkableLife
      @TrulyRemarkableLife  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used a GoPro. No, we didn't have a filter (newbies!!), but I found out that using a red filter will really bring out the colors underwater. I priced them on Amazon for the GoPro and they were less than $10.
      Have fun! It was amazing. Let us know how your adventure turns out!

      Will do, and I will likely pop for the filter! We are So looking forward to it. We have 5 days no Maui followed by 5 days on Kauai.

      Awesome! I want to know if the filter makes the colors more vibrant. We went to Kaui a year and a half ago. Very remote & beautiful. Make sure you see Hanalei Bay and Waimei (sp?) canyon. Breathtaking!!

      I think my better half already has them on the list. I will post some videos with the filter when we get back, so you can compare.
