    He was wise to go with the audience on this imo, the fact him and Jeremy were talking through the question and the audience gave a majority (a fairly slim one albeit) to an option that they didn’t even consider says something 😄

      Yea he got really lucky there. Most of the time the audience will just go with whatever was said. That’s why the sensible strategy is to ask the audience first before you do anything else. It irked me when Jeremy asked him what he thought the answer was in spite of this.

    They always say 50/50 removes 2 answers ''at random'' from the board but in reality it's NEVER random. Here it removed the 2 answers with the least amount of votes from the audience, which it always does when 50/50 is used after ask the audience. Also, whenever a contestant is considering one of two answers and says he knows the other two are definitely not it, then uses the 50/50, the two answers dismissed by the contestant will ALWAYS be taken off the board. Something like this happens every time I watch parts of this show, it's clearly done on purpose and there's no randomness involved

      On some of the old episodes of the American version of this show, a few contestants try to get around that by refusing to say which of the answers they are considering. So, say for example a contestant gets stuck at a question and tell Meredith (the host) that they want to use 50/50, she'll ask the contestant if they have any one or two answers that they feel strongly about before activating 50/50. A lot of them will start talking about their hunches but I've also seen others say, "Yeah, I do, but I'm not going to tell you." and then they'll just go to straight to 50/50 at that point.

    I always imagined that if I were on this show and had to ask the audience, I would give the audience an instruction first: "Dear audience: if you DO KNOW the answer, then obviously vote for it. But if you DON'T KNOW, then please DON'T GUESS. If you don't know, VOTE FOR A."
    The logic is that if A is the correct answer, 100% of people will vote for A. However if any of the others are correct (for example C), then the audience will ONLY vote for A or C. The vote will be split between those who don't know and those who do. Then the contestant can happily go for the audience's choice with no risk that it was just a guess.

    • @Meurth
      @Meurth 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      That's pretty clever, I wonder if there's a rule forbidding the contestants from doing that.
      But what would you do in that scenario if for example A gets 95%, B 1%, C 1% and D 3%? Would you assume the answer is so obscure that it has to be D or would you pick A considering that some people might be stubborn enough to think they know the answer anyway even though they don't?

Now imagine, that there's a question and 20% of the audience knows the correct answer. With four, the percentage would be something like 40-20-20-20% with that one clearly beating 3 others. With 2, it would be something like 60-40% which is not that clear of a difference if you didn't already know the answer after 50-50.
