I've never really had the chance to get into Precure, but man this fight scene is awesome! Style wise, I do still see a lot of Sailor Moon Crystal in their faces, and of the 90s Sailor Moon in the costumes and very appreciated bright colors, but aside from that, I really like how this was drawn.
Happiness Charge is very unique among Pretty Cure series for what concerns style. They experimented a lot even during the season and you can see a lot of influence from Kill La Kill/Trigger in some finishing moves. There are certain episodes (when Lovely faces Mirage, especially) where colors' contrast, hue and brightness are really pushed to extremes. As well as this fighting scene, it's really intense, one of the best scenes in the whole franchise for me!

I am loving the combat, the flips and punches and kicks and all that. There's something about her smile that puts me off though, like this is a copy of Moonlight's fight without the ferocity and intensity that made it so breathtaking. That, and I hope and pray to Hummy's soft, adorable paws that this "Shine the spotlight on the Pink and forget about everyone else instead of fighting as a team Precure Friendship Awesome style" doesn't become a regular thing. It works great in the movies, though. In the movies.

Something that was decided on early on; visually it mirrors the Sentai shows that Precure and many other magical girl shows take inspiration from (where usually it's the Red leader), though methinks it's definitely more of a marketing thing seeing how toy-driven the Precure franchise is. Which makes sense, given it's primarily aimed at young girls. So it's a combination of marketing and wanting to follow to a specific sentai-inspired aesthetic.

That's actually not true? It was clearly stated in the anime that he loved his planet, but when it died he wasn't able to do anything to stop it, and that's WHY he became such an asshole.

This is an awesome fight, it flows really well. It still wasn't quite as epic as Mana's Parthenon Mode, but it was still a pleasure to watch.
