Hey Courtney, the fittings on those hydraulic lines are banjo bolts, there should be 1 copper washer on each side of the hose fitting to allow it to seal to the bolt head on one side and the hydraulic cylinder on the other. First time I've seen these on a tractor but they are super common on automotive brake and fuel systems.

    • @GoodWorksTractors

Thank you Nick, I think they are a good idea.

@@GoodWorksTractors you may want to double check those washers as it looks like they got stacked all on one side of the hose fitting.

The fittings on the cylinder are banjo fittings. They are used a lot in fuel systems on diesel. You want to put a copper washer on both sides of the barrel so it doesn't leak.

You don’t have to jerk the air hose reel. The “ratcheting” noise is how you lock the reel in place at a specific distance. To reel it back in, you pull it gently beyond the “ratcheting” noise and walk it back in. It’s a game changer in any shop!

As many have suggested already, Harbor Freight for hand tools. Especially if you're considering Husky, I would just buy HF instead. I have both Husky and HF and don't see much if any quality differences. The only "benefit" to the husky is that it's a one click purchase. The HF tools you may have to buy a few different items instead of an all in one package, but will likely be about half the cost. I don't have any of the HF tool cabinets, but I've only heard good things. Plus if you get the HF hand tools, you're already there and can get it all at one place.

Harbor freight is an excellent selection for a toolbox. I have one it’s a little bit cheaper than a husky better quality variety of colors and you can always add on side boxes also,I think it’s checking out,it’s better to spend the money on the tools then a X amount thousands of dollars on a snap on toolbox, that just sits there and hold tools. Just my opinion.

Happy to see that the info I sent was beneficial! And you’re right… I’m spoiled now as well. It’s a lifesaver when using something like a box blade. The only difference between your install and mine was that I flipped the cylinder over so the hydraulic lines were on the bottom because that bolt was hitting the top link bracket just like on yours. Good to go!

Ive been running a top and tilt link (2 cylinders, one for lift and one for in and out) on my Kubota L4060 for quite some time. I am surprised that no one else knows about these. Good job making this an option for the smaller equipment Goodworks! They are an absolute game changing add on for your machine. Makes it incredibly more useful in so many ways. I use mine to change the pitch of my 6 foot rotary cutter so I can float the deck just off the ground and not drag big lines in my fields from the steel rails on the cutter. Box blading is a whole different dimension of capabiltiy. You should really consider selling the lift links too ... it is just a cyliunder that goes on the side of the 3 point so you can tilt the implement as well.

I have used every mole trap on the market. These that you have (mine are called "Mole Eliminator") are the best that money can buy. They are almost 100%. If the trap is sprung, you can bet there is a mole in it. Before I used this model, I had tried others and the moles were winning the battle. Most traps only have about a 50% success rate. I now have 6 of these, and I am finally winning. I am nailing them every time. And as for the top link, I couldn't agree more. The hydraulic top link and Pat's easy change system are both game changers.

Those bano bolts will eventually loosen. What is needed is a double saddle clamp between the two bango elbows to keep fittings parallel. The continuous up and down, and in and out will act like a wrench and loosen those hydraulic fittings. Could you do a test on electro-mechanical top link, i believe from Showa from Japan, very simple for us "no rear hydraulics guys". Thanks again

  • @mattheww8695
    @mattheww8695 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Courtney addresses this briefly, but there’s more. At 15:38 you can see Summit’s top link hanger actually flexing as the top link banjo bolt presses against it. The hanger plate itself is a heavy piece of kit. Continued contact it will eventually cause the banjo bolt on the hydraulic cylinder to fail (leak). I have this same setup and I removed the Summit hanger. It doesn’t fit the hydraulic top link anyway because it’s so much bigger than the stock manual top link and based on my attempts on the bench, the plate can not be bent back out of the way. Maybe this will help other Summit TX25 owners.

For a full standing tool box, you'll be hard pressed to find a better quality box for the money than Harbor Freight. But wait a few weeks, the new gen 3 us generals are rolling out now. If you don't want or need a top box, huskys rolling work benches are a great option but limited on color.
Tool wise, I've worked with a hodge podge for years. Mostly craftsman with dewalt power and a bit of snap on/mac tossed in, but since craftsman were discontinued then sold, and remade the quality isnt there. Over the years sets get incomplete and tools fail I've been replacing with Icon from HF aswell. Dewalt power tools have fallen off aswell so I run Milwaukee. M12 ratchets with 3/8 impact, m18 fuel 1/2 impact and grinders. I don't even use air anymore except for tires. No more extension cords either.

Put up peg board style access for your tools and get a cart to use for your tools with a work top. When you take a part off to work on you have a place to put it. You’ll have the tools you need, and when you’re done push the cart with tools over and hang them. Open space? Missing tool. And less exercise getting everything put back.

Tool chest - Menards tool boxes are better IMHO because thier drawers are thinner, which makes for better organization of the tools.
The deeper drawers just get filled up and makes it harder to find what you're after.
I dont have a Menards anywhere near CA but they delivered it for a small fee.

I only use 6 point wrenches and sockets. Grew tired of call, wait, explained, sorry can't help you.
Hence Cornwell. But it's my application, doesn't mean it'll work for your application.
Now I do have Icon impact socket sets 3/8 & 1/2.
Milwaukee M18 impacts, drills and grinder.
    Good luck with your search

My son has a large Snap On tool box where he works I think there to expensive for my liking. We went to Harbor Freight and the have the Icon brand tool box which seems well built. So we took tools off the shelves and really loaded it up and was very impressed, the drawers rolled in and out smoothly with no issues . I'm not saying there the best, but for the money they seem very well built , I think there around $3,500 give or take a little for a seventy two inch box and were probably going to buy one for his home garage when he's ready. They also have smaller sizes at a lesser price's depending on what you need. Just an idea it's only my opinion so it's something to consider looking at and making your own decision about.

As others have stated, the fittings are banjo bolts, and allow fluid flow regardless of hose orientation. As various tractor models are different, a singular hose orientation may not work between multiple models.
As for the hose reel, probably every reel I've ever worked with has a series of 3 noticeable ratcheting clicks, where it'll lock. A gentle pull beyond the 3rd click or locking position will allow you to walk it back in. And HANG ON! Some of those springs can be extremely strong, allowing for the potential for damage to property or injury to people if somebody's in the wrong place at the wrong time! I myself usually grab that hose stop, (what I call "the donut"), as it helps prevent the hose from slipping out of your hands.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Clifford, are your rear hydraulics there to operate the backhoe? If you have a regular rear remote, then you'd have a lever somewhere on the operator station to control it.
The hydraulics for the backhoe are an open circuit that allow fluid to freely flow. The backhoe has it's own levers to control what happens with the flow.

A U.S. GENERAL would be just fine for that or the Montezuma seem well built. I bought a Husky Stainless 12 years ago it has held up OK just seen a number of nicer ones over the last 6 years for less money. You'd be better off piece mailing a tool kit together then buying one of the "Master kits" as they always skip way to many sizes as they try to match SAE with Metric. Just look at how many skip right over 15mm then hit 17 to only then jump to 21,22,23 just like the SAE will give you 3/4, 1 and 11/4 but must often skip 11/16 and 1 1/8. and JD excavators love using that 1 1/8 nut and bolt combo so you always need two as they love making it impossible to get a socket on half of either side.

That Easy Wheel is a great alternative to the hydraulic top link if you’re fitting deficient. I just got mine a bit ago and it makes adjustments so much nicer. Didn’t see a close up in the 3 point lever, did you add a second switch to move in and out?

You weren’t asking me, but figured I’d chime in. I bought one about 3 months ago, along with a 5’ brush hog, 5’ box blade and a post hole digger and it’s been the best purchase made in a long time. Added a hydraulic top link about one month after buying it, which was awesome. I use it to maintain 10+ acres and it’s constantly getting use. I’m just over 50 hours now and no issues at all. Definitely recommend.

I’m not trying to be critical of your show. Heck, If I did a video on how to get free gold, I couldn’t get 3 people to watch.
But to give my two cents anyway
This video seemed to be all over the place and unnecessarily long. I admittedly fast forwarded the video trying to get to the subject of the title, and you seemed all over the place. I don’t want to watch a guy walk around and talk about various subjects. I’d prefer someone to get straight to the point.
Anyway, I don’t mean to be a jerk, just putting my “nobody cares” opinion out there.
I do thank you for your efforts, and I’m jealous of that barn!
