    Hi Brent, Great vid. Thanks very much. I don’t know if you’ve experienced this with Quantize, but on my RC-500, it changes the wayTtrack 2 records. I’m on a different set up,so this might not happen on your setup, but here’s what’s going down: 1) record Track 1; 2) end Track 1 loop and Track 1 plays back. 3) now record Track 2 while Track 1 plays back. If I end the recording on Track 2 before the Track 1 loop is finished, no issues - both tracks are in playback mode and all is well. But with Quantize on, if I end the Track 2 recording just a second or more longer beyond the end of the Track 1 loop, the RC-500 locks Track 2 into recording for a whole additional loop. In effect, playback is disabled, and Track 2 is locked on record until it has played all the way through the first loop again; only when the Track 1 loop is finished will it then revert Track 2 to playback. This is disappointing, as the RC-30 allowed for very sloppy Track 2 in and out, and always responded immediately to start and stop recording. I’ll fiddle with it some more, but sure would be sweet if I could record in Track 2 without worrying about having to stop before Track 1 finishes. I need/enjoy/like quantize, but can’t deal with being locked on record for a whole additional loop.
    Thanks again for a great tutorial.
    Marc

    Thank you for giving a simplified and detailed overview of this pedal. Every video I’ve watched on TH-cam does not do this. They seem to be more interested in the drum sounds, which I absolutely hate, and they don’t address or show how the multi track looping works. I currently use the JamMan stereo and I love it, I just wish I could record a simple beatbox in my “A” or “Track 1” loop that will play throughout a song and then loop my bass lines and/or my harmonic progressions in another loop that I can stop independently in a live setting without having to bend over in the middle of a song or throughout my set. I was on the fence about this, but this seems to be the way to go for what I’m looking for! It’s close in size to the JamMan and has an XLR out, so that’s exactly what I’m looking for. Please let me know if you have come across any drawbacks to this pedal!

      Thanks. So far I am loving this looper and use it on my lice Twitch streams. I do you the drums on certain songs and others I make my own by rapping the guitar etc. With an added midi pedal it is really versatile.

    Thanks Brent I have just got myself the RC 500 I use it with a Beatbuddy drum pedal in midi mode. Very handy. I disconnected the Beatbuddy to just do some normal looping with percussive drumming and I noticed it was fine the two tracks for a few bars ruthenium it would slowly start getting out of timing. Now with my other looper the Aeros I have a click track that I play to. In this video here I see you using headphones is that so you can hear a click. I was just concerned there may have been something wrong with my unit. However I will give the quantise button a shot and see what happens. I am also on twitch under SamHarris UK. Will definitely follow you there. Thanks for a great video

      same problem here, no matter the quantize is on or not, sync track sync is on or off, tempo sync is on or off, etc
      I must add, I use a digitech jam express(but no ryhtm integrated) and a looper integrated in a zoom multieffects with integrated rythm, and I dont have such problems ...
      The quantize function and/or the tempo sync seems to be not very accurate, or they are not linked together ..;
      (by the way, I've got the 1.04 firmware, the last one at this day).
      Very ennoying , as it is part of the very basic functions you can expect from a looper ......

    Hi, I activated the quantize function but it still doesn’t work. Are the tempo settings also relevant or what could be the problem? Do I need to follow the blinking tempo while recording (but still does not work)?

    Hi 👋 , thnx for yer videos amazing music . . I had RC30 boss. Since it’s not working anymore .. it had a function ( donno what’s called ?) I could strum my guitar in rhythm and RC30 wud pick up the tempo of my strumming . And hi hat wud start . Rather than choose a rhythm first and then strum the guitar .. does RC 500 has that function ? Could it pick up the strumming . ? Tempo . Appreciate so much if you guide. Thanks

    Great video! Many times when I record a guitar idea without drums
    playing (sometimes setting the tempo and setting a beat will lose the
    idea)... the drums are too fast when I bring them in... double time in
    fact. Is there a way to correct that afterwards... or avoid that?
    Thanks!

      you ve got to put the autorecord setting on, so the rythm is supposed to sync with your guitar tempo, if you launch the rythm after recording the guitar only

    Hi, is there a way to get the guitar recording out of Out B and the vocal recording out of Out A in order to send the first to the amp and the second to the vocal system?

    • @BlackSun3Tube
      @BlackSun3Tube 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, you can tell the looper, by the "input" menu and then in the "memory" menu, that such input is going to A or B, as well as the ouput routinng. Dont forget to do both or it won t work ... and dont ask me why it has been tought this way (maybe they were planning to add a send/return loop, sou you could mix or separate inputs before the loop, then separate or mix them for the output after the loop inserted... not sure it would work like this, but anyway as there is no send/return sockets ...maybe also you can do a soft inversion of A input to B output like that, instead of unpluging and repluging in case you did make a mistake or for some purpose ...)....

    Please somebody explain how you can assign different rhythms one to each track when you have the RC500 in single mode and you're using each track as Verse and Chorus. Thanks.

    • @BlackSun3Tube
      @BlackSun3Tube 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the only way seems to have a separate midi controller or footswitch so you can assign rythm variation A/B to one switch, or do a memory change with a switch. Otherwise, you can't change rythm and even vairation acccording to a track (same rythm for both tracks of a memory loop, always ...).
      (in fact, you can do a change one time for all the looping session with one memory, specifying you start from a variation then want to go to the other variation in x measures ... but you can never comme back to the first variation until the end of the session ... And it only works for variations A/B, not for a complete rythm change).
      EDIT: it seems it is possible in fact, you've got to use the assign function to the track change switch, where you ... assign! ... variation changec (min= A, max = B for example), rythm change, etc.

    I'm having trouble with my RC 500 doing separate A & B song sections. Seems to not work the same way every time. You did 2 track looping BUT NOT two track separate musical sections starting and stopping... that's where the problems arise.

    • @BlackSun3Tube
      @BlackSun3Tube 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      same here, even trying loop sync on, tempo sync on, single (not multi) set, quantize set on or off, and even track chain series ...
      Sometimes it works, sometime not, and I think I have to do different settings betwween recording and playing (sync on then off ...) to have best chances to make it work. Not very cool in live session ...
      (I must add, I have no problem with the - limited - looper with rythms integrated in my Zoom multieffects ...so the problem may not be me ..; on the RC 500, even on a simple loop on a single trak, played time after time, often the pbm occurs, and rythm and loop begins to live their own life ...)
      Or you have to set "sync loop" for both tracks, but being precise when to change from one track to another, as this make the two tracks start virtually together (even if hearing just one), then the change may occur where you don t want it to be, and it s not always possible to do what you want as both tracks are not forced to be wanted multiples of each other ...
      For exemple, if you have a 2 measures track 1 record, and a 8 measures track 2 record, if you both put loop syn on, and play 2 time the first loop (so 2x 2 measures), then change, the second loop will begin directly at its 5th measure ...
      If you don t put both tracks to loop syn on, it s supposed to be able (through track change set to "loop end" for example) to change from one track to another when you want, each track considering it begins from the first time of its own first measure ... but then, sync problems occur if you play one track or the other for a bit, then change track ... ennoying ...
      It never syncs to the tempo back while changing tracks ...
      EDIT: I did answer here considering you had sync pbms, but re-reading you, it seems you had only difficulties to find how to change the simlutaneous A/B play into a successive A/B play. This is done by changing the "multi" setting to "single" (go to memory, play, and change the value "multi" to "single").

      @@TheRWE12 Thanks very much for your answer, Ric, but it will not set my problem.
      I did already set up the tracks to single, etc, like this guy did, except for the pedal assign and the use of an external footswitch, that I dont have for now (and may buy later if I don t return the RC 500 to the seller).
      The problem begins in fact when I play a loop for a bit, no matter if quantize is on or off, if loop sync is set to on or not, and having the track tempo set to sync.
      Some few times, it seems perfectly sync for ever, but most of the time, rythm and recorded thing do have more and more delay in time, so being less and less sync together. And changing track do not fix the problem, the rythm and the recorded tracks living their own lifes more and more ...
      As I said in my comment above, I use too a looper with rythm integrated and synced together (what I record and the rythm pattern choosen are sync) in one of my multieffects, and such problems do not occur.
      I think that if I can fix that with the RC 500, playing then track A and B in the single (not multi) mode will not desync them.
      But for now, even a single loop (a loop recorded on a single track) has few chances to stay glue to the rythm tempo, time after time ... It' start to shift in an audible way after few repetitions of the loop (I suppose that after a while, for example, the first beat of what I recorded will be on the second beat of the rythm ,and so on). Like if the measure time of what I recorded was not corresponding exactly with the measure time of the rythm - which may happen when the quantization is off, of course, but should not be when it's on.
      Of course, maybe setting before the recording, for each track, the number of measures I want (example, setting track A to 2 measures and track B to 16 measures before any recording) may fix for a part this, and I will try that. But it should work, like in my multieffects, witout this kind of artifact or preparation - in live situation, this is not very cool ...
      And why should it work as soon as the quantization and/or the tempo sync seems not to work properly? The problem may still be there with those pre-settings ...
      Sure that if I only repat 2 times a loop, that's not a problem, it will sound synchronized enough. But for long repetition, to work on a solo for example or for harmoonization, or for live impro ... hum.

      @@BlackSun3Tube I went round and round with that and talked to the top dogs at Boss. They agreed the unit was bad and I returned it. Then I literally tried every other looper under $500 and they sucked worse. So I got another RC-500. TRY THIS: upgrade with USB to the latest update. My first RC-500 was when they first were released.

      @@TheRWE12 I've already upragded the 1.04 firmware from the 1.02 it was when I received it, so it's up to date today ...
      The rythm/looper of my old Zoom multieffects (G3) works properly, I was expecting more from a specific only looper from a renowned brand, Boss, that costed me almost the same price and made years after ...
      Maybe the solution is elsewhere so ...
