On today's episode of Locked On Kentucky, Lance Dawe takes a look at what Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope has to say about Coach Calipari and about the upcoming game vs Arkansas basketball. Boo during the game I say. Why does Cal get a pass? Rick left, came back to college basketball but for our biggest rival, flipped us the bird got a Loserville tattoo. But all while never down talking or degrading the school or program (left on a high point, handed over a champ team)....but Cal left while sneaking behind our back, telling us and Mitch things were good in a presser, called us basketball bennys, called out our media and came back asking for more money after breaking our contract (left straight for an SEC rival, while he was on a downfall...spiral even)

As frustrated and angry at Cal as I was his last couple of years at UK, I respect the hell out of him for leaving when he didn't have to and not dragging the program down any more. I hope the majority of Cat fans stay classy and welcome him.

We don’t know those details. I don’t think he knew the situation from where he was sitting there was no way he could’ve stayed. His next team couldn’t have succeeded. Every game would have been a review and every loss would have been an excuse to fire him. He gave us his personal best and that is all we can ask. We have Pope now and I would love to see Cal come back here and be a Joe b. Hall for us. He will always be a wildcat. He’ll we forgave Pitino, we can certainly welcome Cal back

This is my stance.
I'm not booing him because of the amazing years he still gave to UK.
But I'm not cheering him either because he happens to be coaching at a conference rival. Once he leaves the SEC, and doesn't coach for any other rival we have, that's when he should be cheered.
It's all about context. If they play a highlight video to honor his tenure here, I'd cheer. When he's introduced as the Arkansas coach, I'll boo.
Of course we should. No team in the country that’s decent is gonna cheer for the guy who just left for a conference rival and called u and all ur friends crazy before he did leave. No way ur supposed to cheer him. U boo him and the kids who left her LOUD. Now when he retires or moves to another job that’s not a conference rival or a rival then u can cheer him again.
Think about it…we are happy with our Coach! If Cal hadn’t left we wouldn’t be having so much fun watching BB again. So instead of booing…clap in cheer of him leaving…if you was gonna boo. no, he had every opportunity to leave with his dignity. instead he kept feeding us bullshit excuses and false expectations until he was forced out. he took the entire program with him or encouraged the others to leave UK. then he goes to another SEC team knowing that this day would come, except he thought he would be the one saying "i told you so". I want his post-game interview to resemble Wagner's after the Oakland loss, shaking and muttering incoherent responses.

Cal in his press conference was very complimentary to KY, his time their and to the KY fans. He stated he has many friends their and great memories of his time their. He said he will be the visiting coach and the KY fans will treat him as any visiting coach. He was more anxious about the reception of Thieto, Wagner, Z, Ellis and Brad, than him.
No boo’s from me! I learned along time ago not to tell anyone else how to fan. So if some people want to boo that’s up to them but I am thankful for all Cal did for Kentucky! I don’t know if a lot of people have forgot, but our program was in horrible shape under Billy Clyde Gillespie! Cal brought us back to being relevant in a big way

The way I look at it is that We definitely got the better end of his decision to leave! We got Coach Pope and Arkansas has Coach Cal so at the end of the day! We got what we wanted and that was him leaving and us getting a fresh start!
U know i been seeing a lotta fans approaching this teams ceiling with a lotta hesitation when discussing this teams ceiling and i fell like it’s a product of last years teams outcome but there’s some huge differences and im gonna tell u a few of the main ones i see besides the obvious that this teams is full of vets and last years team was the youngest in the nation and one of the main reasons i argued vs my our big blue nation brethren before the tournament last yr when they were all trying to tell me that team was “gonna win it all” the first reason being this team doesn’t play the greatest team defense but has some good individual defenders and that wasn’t the case with that team , this team when locked in and seeing a game as important and a “must win “ can take their game up to another level , when this team loses it’s because they get lazy and uninterested and the runs they go on when down double digits over and over proves as much , ive only saw this team loses 1 game when locked in and that was the Bama game and anyone who’s watched the same games as me knows this is true , this team is also much better away from Rupp and on a neutral or hostile floor & although that team got a few good road wins wasn’t the case , this team has much better pregame preparation ( coach Pope ) and in game adjustments (again coach Pope) . I feel we are at a big disadvantage in Rupp because refs are so terrified to give us the call based on past criticism and that’s why when ranked teams come in Rupp this season they are shooting 10-15 more free throws than us and u don’t see that on the road or neutral floor. So based on what Lance just said 11-7 for us in SEC is a 3# seed which I find interesting because I saw another site do the same and put us in as 9-9 and we were a 3# seed , which goes to show it’s us against world but this team is just as capable of winning it all as any other top 15 team out there and the main reason is there’s no UConn type Juggernaut like there was last year , this is as open as I’ve saw it in a few years and we have a more than capable team & get annoyed when I see our fanbase say things like “this teams ceiling is sweet 16” when they have spent the majority of the season ranked in the top 8 it’s like really ? But don’t let the last few seasons reflect ur expectations onto this team and I’ll agree they play inconsistently at times but believe me it’s not because they aren’t capable of winning if u notice 9 times outta 10 when this team has been down double digits the have pulled back to tie & or take the lead & that is jus showing when they wanna beat u and don’t play lazily or disinterested they are really good .
Treat Cal the same way he treated fans the last few seasons.
If I had my wish, it'd be crickets.... wouldn't clap,cheer, or boo... but I won't be there, so don't guess it's up to me, but will be watching and it's certainly going to be interesting to see how the crowd reacts
I think you guys are underestimating this team if we can get healthy down the stretch! Definitely a 2 seed if that happens or maybe get hot and win a 1 seed if everything lines up right!
No, let’s have some class. We’ve moved on. 2013-14 Randle/Harrisons crew lost 10 games, went thru loaded NCAA route, Kansas State, undefeated 34-0 Wichita State., Michigan, defending champs Louisville, Wisconsin, lost in close one in final. Game. Rest of SEC sat home and watched us go to title game. What a year! We had fun at times with Cal. Recruits are watching. Be classy

He ran the program into the ground the last 5-6 years, he looked at other jobs behind UKs back, he alienated himself from the program boosters and athletic department, disrespected the football coaches and players, threw insults at fans who criticized his lack luster coaching, disrespected the programs history on multiple occasions by saying 1st round picks on draft night was the greatest night in UK history, saying he didn't care about championships or the sec tournament. If you remember, Rich Pitino gave UK fans the “finger” while walking off the court after his Louisville team got beat by Kentucky. Is that “class”? Rick made a video about the “booing” possibility for Cal. His words should be falling on deaf ears because he is a hypocrite!

I think Cal expects to be booed, I kinda think Cal wants to be booed with his bazooka holes press conference he gave, I think he needs to be booed so that it looks like BBN is just a rabid fan base that hates him and got him at his best and ran him off when he wasn’t performing at an elite level.
