- Welcome back to the channel. If you're a returning subscriber, you'll know how much I love dark posions. So much so Shadow drapion is the channel mascot!
Poisons have been buffed. Poison sting has always been a very good, quick energy generating move. Now, it does even more damage, allowing the super spammy Drapion the ability to farm stuff down! It's partner in crime, the ruthless closer shadow. Skuntank got access to Trailblaze a few seasons ago. I personally always opted for flamethrower as Trailblaze was very underwhelming. Ninaitc, this season cut its energy requirement to just 45 energy. Meaning after just 7 jabs, then 6, you're able to ramp up your oppressive poison jab damage! What isn't there to like?
This strategy has been one I've used in the open ultra league all the way since season 8. I always pair it with a fighter in the lead to cover the backlines weakness to both ground and steel. Both Poliwrath and ape have received nurfs. My discord asked me what would fill that lead role this season? The answer is legacy. Primape now able.to spam close combats after just 10 turns this thing is a mosnter.

Me. I hit my season high with it last season. Made expert. I was just shy of legend. Primate looks fun to try it with. I got a 1/15/15 s. Machamp to try it with also.

Hi Jamie, many thanks for the shoutcast once again and I will. Just wondering which Mon to use on the front. Given the ground weakness in the back, I was thinking of ice/grass/water coverage in the front.
Now my questions:
- why do you pick a fighter with double poison/dark, is that to have more coverage against steel? Poliwrath I could follow, given the water coverage
- would Pangoro in the UL not be the best fighter to replace the ape? It also hits ghost super effective with stab night slash
- and what are your thoughts on cresnaught? Seems like a good fighter with ground and steel coverage
@twandejong8098 it originally started as Poliwrath for the ability to handle the most common ground types swampert
I did try Gator as a lead and had soke good success.
The meta might shift this season so depending what we see I'll pick my lead accordingly.

I sent a submission with a team of glass cannons that were indirectly buffed this season with the meta change. My first time running glassy pokemon! I am hooked.
