  • Hello Everyone!
    Here I am showing you all how to remove the gear shift knob on most Automatic Honda Civic 10th Gen (Generations).
    I am conducting this video inside of a 10th Gen (2016-2021) Honda Civic Hatchback and am planning to replace it with a universal gear shift knob. But this video is for the purpose of just showing y'all how to remove it, for simplicity's sake!
    Hope the video was clear! Super sorry about the fumbling! I'm not rich enough for a cameraman haha!

    for those of you who are having trouble holding the locks in and trying to get the chrome piece out both at the same time with your fingers try using a tool like a wrench or pliers to hold the locks in place and then slide the chrome piece down i’m telling you it makes life so much easier i highly recommend it

      Thank you, was jimmying with it with my fingers for a while then got some pliers and a towel to protect the knob and it was off in 2 seconds

      We cannot feel any locks. Tried everything but can’t get it off. We have 2017 civic. Is it the same?

    Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for the top head? I just bought a new sport touring hatch but the previous owner had a dog and the gear shifter is all chewed up!

    Cannot feel any tabs. Bought pliers and still nothing. What are we missing? 2017 civic. Gear shift knob looks identical.

    Do you think it’s possible to replace the knob with a manual style knob or would you need the button to shift?

    • @HeyyyyyZeus
      @HeyyyyyZeus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are some manual style knobs that come with the adapters that work on gear shifts with a lock button. I found one on Amazon that worked! Just make sure you look for the Universal Shift Knob as those usually come with the necessary adapter to allow you to shift like normal.

    Hello Jesus,
    I have been looking at this video for a whiles now but finally am ready to install my very own though so pardon my “dumb” question.
    Please elaborate when you get the chance, when you were removing the knob did you leave your car engine on and simply engaged with ebrake? Or was the car off when you installed the knob?
    Thank you for your time!

    • @HeyyyyyZeus
      @HeyyyyyZeus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really hope you were able to complete your install since I responded so late! But I was only able to use the gear shift when I pressed the start button once, so I engaged the e-brake for safety. Also, I was working on a flat, elevated surface, in my garage. If you don't have a flat surface, or are unsure anyways, then use some wheel stoppers! Blocks of wood do the trick too.
      I hope this helps!
      Basically, Don't fully start the car, but press the start button so you can move your gear shift around if necessary. You may be able to work on the gear shift without starting the car tbh. But it was easier when I could move it around.

    • @HeyyyyyZeus

      Hmm... Is yours the same design as the one in the video? If so, it should be right beneath where there is an indicator on the chrome piece. The indicator is the part on the chrome piece that sort of juts out on its own. Hope this helps! If it is not the same design, then I think this video may not be what you are looking for.

    Whats that L doing on your sfither ? You got P R N S L

    • @HeyyyyyZeus
      @HeyyyyyZeus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha! "L" on most gear shifts stand for "Low." This is best used on steep hills or long roads going downhill. This is because your brakes will be working on full time in order to maintain speed while going against gravity :) Hope this helps!
