@CB33-47 This was my preseason assessment:
      Elite Browns defense?
QBs who struggled against the 2023 Browns defense: one legged Burrow, Pickett, Tannehill, Pickett, Fields, Cardinals Backup, Texans Backup, Jets Backup
QBs who did good (24+ points) against the 2023 Browns defense: Minshew, Geno Smith, Lamar, Lamar, Russ, Stafford, Injured Trevor Lawrence
Purdy missed a walk off field goal on the road: not good, not embarrassing. Defense sat out week 18.
All the QBs who struggled against the Browns are backups or don't have a job this year. When half of your games are against literally nobody, your stats will look legendary.
2023 Browns were last place in red zone defense. 75% TD rate? Absolutely pathetic. Stats is stats. Blame the guy who invented numbers.

  • @StevenC32
    @StevenC32 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

But if we are being completely honest, the Browns offense was very predictable the last few years, I don't blame them for trying to shake things up and make it less predictable, I just think that they went too far to overhaul the offense rather than just tweaking it with a few RPOs to keep the defenses guessing. The Browns went so far to break their tendencies that even the offensive linemen did not know what was going on, the receivers did not know what was going on and the quarterback wasn't on the same page with anyone. The first half of the season was like training camp for the Browns, and I put that on the head coach and his offensive staff. The coach's job is to get the team ready to play, and the Browns looked like they have been unprepared to play every week.

And some of these damn fans think he is not by a long stretch. He's rather dumb in many ways. And he doesn't know how to run training camp, he doesn't know how to get his team's prepared properly, mentally, physically and thoroughly understanding of their role. Of their position and the intricacies the It doesn't re of.
He still makes a lot of bad timeouts and game management decisions. He doesn't know how to coach all pro players that well with a few exceptions.
He doesn't get the most obvious players, even Myles. Garrett could be better. He's two hands off and all the other components and parts of the team. He doesn't show enough fire and emotionism to inspire anybody. He's too stoic. He doesn't challenge the referees enough. 'Em bad calls.
He doesn't get on players when they make mistakes on the field like the top coaches do. Usually. We're looking for a coach that can win the super bowl and we'll win the super bowl. A lot of that not happening is totally on. Jimmy haslam!
But Kevin stefanski and gm Andrew Berry should go. And they should give up this three or four-headed monster ownership management team. Depodesta , Dee Haslam and others
No really good. Talented GM that knows what he's going to do Will accept the Browns GM. That's why we always get guys with no experience hardly and looking for a check or a foot in the door to be a GM in the NFL. Who will put up with Jimmy Haslam bull crap, yes man desiring Management team.

Kevin Stefanski is not the best leader. You see him interacting with DTR on the sidelines, but not so much with some other quarterbacks. I like the way Jim Schwartz interacts with players. I think Kevin Stefanski hurt Baker Mayfield and I think he could have helped all of the Browns quarterbacks more than he has. People want to blame Andrew Berry, Paul DePodesta, and the Haslams, but I think Kevin Stefanski hasn't been as good as he gets credit for being. I think he won two Coach of the Year awards because he has a talented team. Before this season the Browns were considered one of the more talented teams in the NFL. I really think that Stefanski didn't get along with Baker Mayfield, and that was partly because of Baker's immaturity, but I think that Stefanski could have helped Mayfield be a more mature man and a better quarterback while he was in Cleveland. The Browns need a true leader of men.

My biggest takeaway from it was the organization needs to decide what sort of offense they want to run, add a vet that fits that system, draft a qb for that system, and move forward. No other position matters when you have historically bad offense and youre trying to run something that you dont have the personnel for. Winston is not an RPO creating qb, DTR isnt even a qb, and also more suited for KS scheme with timing and rhythm. If theyre waiting for the 2026 draft class youre looking at Allar and Nuss. Not exactly "generational" like everyone wants. Mid rounders never work out, there are 2 in the past 8 years, and 1 is Purdy who ppl are questioning right now. Also doubt they would be drafting this high again next year to take a qb. If so, everyone is already fired. Obviously the DW restructure allows them to do a post 1 June cut in 2026. The only way to remain competitive is a rookie contract qb. I wouldnt be relying on old washed qbs to "fix" your fortune. The idea of Carter and MG is very interesting, but again you have to score to win. Jets loaded up on talent for last 3 years and stink because they dont have a qb. It doesnt matter how talented your team is, you cant consistently win without a qb, nor make the playoffs.

    Great episode as always!
I think the think everyone is missing is that Kevin knew once Watson was out and we were 1-8, it was better to lose as many more as possible.
Unlike past regimes where we win 3-4 games down the stretch for moral victories and ruin our draft pick this staff realized better to tank.
One way to do that is switch play caller and not tell the backup QB :-p
    Maybe I’m just coping, that’s possible 😂
Only other thing I can think of is that Haslam purposely wants us to lose, cuz there’s just no logic to it otherwise

How do you have a disastrous move that effects a franchise like this and people keep jobs? Its nuts from a business perspective. Doesn't mean KS isn't a good coach, its simple responsibility for a move that hurt the business. If he wasn't pushing it behind closed doors, sure keep him. Anyone responsible for the business decision should go. The owner didn't watch tape and come to the conclusion he wanted DW. Others were involved.

If a person made a decision that costs the company the way this decision did, just about anyone, would be unemployed. Unless you manage a hedge fund. I look at the business side. Since Bull is talking about "professionalism", I'm going to bring up Mayfield for a specific reason... and it's NOT to troll.
As a point of comparison, I've watched every Buccaneers game he's played in, and I cannot believe the difference (his performance aside) between the Tampa organization and the Browns. It's unbelievable! I'm really talking about the demeanor of the coaches, the players, even the media. For example, it would be unthinkable for Baker to say "I'm not interested in running" the way Deshaun did. He'd do anything to win and they expect to win as a team. I think it comes down to a mismatch between what the front office wants, and how Stefanski coaches. One thing that Baker jokes about in pressers is needing to have a "thick skin" in the building, because I think every day is a humbling reminder that there's always a need to grow, and I don't see that in the Browns.

I agree with Tyvus and Bull that this organization is less than professional. Unfortunately, this is the new corporate culture where they expect their employees to be invested, but yet will not include them in any of the decisions that are made and expect them to fall in line without knowing or feeling part of the plan. Management always thinks like they're the smartest people in the room and the employees will only screw things up if they involve them.

    This was my preseason assessment:

I'm starting to think the content is made up from other uninformed sports outlets. Also, Bull is a murder hornet in the Browns hive. And Kevin was calling all the plays this year while Deshawn was in there. And Dorsey was calling them while Winston was in there. Obvious deffrent route concepts. The last couple weeks looked like a little of Kevin's and Dorseys mixed. Don't blame Jimmy. It was no better Bull when Lerner Jr was the owner.

It typically doesn't take anywhere near 18 months for a player to come back from an Achilles tear. They might not be at full 100% when they come back but they typically cime back much sooner. Aaron Rodgers came back in less than a year. Kirk Cousins came back in less than 10 months. Cousins didn't tear his Achilles until week 8 in 2023 and still started 2024 on time. Now the results haven't been great for either QB but they both came back in less than a year. Not 18 months.
