Good morning Mr. Ed! 32* here on Long Island 🥶 but my Lemon Maureen Pie and I are headed to Key West tomorrow!!! We are celebrating our 25th anniversary. Have a blessed day Brother. 👍
Happy Anniversary! Eat a piece of Key Lime Pie for me as well, those things are great! Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Brian. Mr. Ed
It’s below freezing here in the Midwest. I’m just going to have to enjoy the warm coffee and watch the professionals. I still have a 2 foot snowdrift around my girls. God bless.♥️👍🏼🙏
I think we need one as well! Joey is a great guy, and like Mike Barry, Wreck it Ralph, and Good Time Charlie, we all belonged to the same Bee Club. God's peace Clay. Mr. Ed
Typical Good Time Charlie…..worried about ‘after the job’ before the job even begins. Good review of the hive lifter model. The trade off of time and pain is worth it.
Great tool for lifting those heavy boxes!! Always wonderful to see Good Time Charlie. As for this Hive lifter, I think you need one for all the hives you take care of!! God Bless!!!
I'm positive I need one of these lifts, and within the next few weeks I will be having one. Good by sore back! Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Phil. Mr. Ed
I hope I will need one of those lifts eventually but for now I have 2 apprentices 😂. Joey is so real and such a good guy! Good to see him in your video. Thanks for all y’all do!
Lisa, the really great thing about the lift is you don't ever have to feed it, and it NEVER says a bad thing about having to lift 100 pounds off the ground. Still, there is a lot of good to be said about apprentices. I've been knowing Joey for more than 15 years and he has helped me out countless times, a really great guy! God's peace. Mr. Ed
Those look great BUT if you have beetle traps in your hive you would have to go in an remove the traps so the oil does not spill an kill bees. Just a thought. Thanks for the video.
That is for sure, that oil would be everywhere if there were traps in the hive. However, since I don't use them, that was not an issue. Thanks for watching. God's peace Kathy. Mr. Ed
Hi Jeff, Charley & Joey, cool video guys. Sorry we missed seeing you guys while we were just there. Sharon & I did go to the Abbey and picked up some Honey, lotion bars and a few other items. We also had my sister-in-law with us from Slidell. Maybe our next trip will be under better circumstances. We had a safe roadtrip back to Virginia. Hopefully we can connect the next time.
I'm sorry we missed each other as well. Hopefully, we will have another occasion in the near future...and on happier reasons for making the visit. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thank you Annette. Hey, I bet you are going to go out and buy one of those lifts aren't you. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Good Morning Mr Ed, love this one, and my wife loves the 🏋️♀️ lifter, too! We are gonna get one for sure. Temp here in San Antonio, Texas, is 63 this morning.
I can appreciate your work ethic, excellent! Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Nice indeed, and I will be getting one later this year. Charlie and I aren't getting younger, and those boxes ain't getting lighter. Thank you for your blessings and for watching Garry. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Thanks for this video! I was looking into lifts for moving heavy stuff in my house like my big freeze dryer that sits like an immovable homage to technology in a front room of my house. Prices are almost as much as the machine. Your video on this particular hydraulic mover makes total sense (not for my use since I don't have bees) for older or singular beekeepers. If I was beekeeping, I would be very interested. But I am happy at least Joey and a few others have this hydraulic bee box lifter and also they are kind in allowing this tool to be used by fellow bee keepers! Thanks, Joey! You are hero! 😊
I bet if you put some stick up images of honey bees flying around and a bee hive on the dryer it would dress that room up right away! Trust me, after using Joey's lift to move these hives, I will be investing in one for myself, a real back saver for sure! Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Hi Mr Ed’ and guys I did my honey yesterday I’m convinced not to use half boxes use the full box what a mess I got into but all went well in the end I have to do wax now and I think I’m going to be right with that now god bless thanks
Good morning Mr. Ed. Joey to the rescue!! It's a still grey morning here in central NH. 7:40am, 30 degrees and you can feel the humidity in the air...temps predicted to rise to maybe 40 f. This coming summer will be potentially the first summer I will work vertical Langstroth hives for honey...my 63+ year old back hurts just thinking about moving honey supers around...Teamwork! Thanks for sharing, have a great day!
Trust me, before harvest time, we will have one. Just make sure you do your research before biting the bullet, you want to get the right one for your needs. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Jessica. Mr. Ed
Mr ED, I moved several hives ahead of cold weather and locked the bees in their hive, there were still a few bees circling their old location after three days. In October, I moved a dozen double deeps and I was sore after hefting the full boxes of honey.. I screw a 2x4 on the timbers and place it over the block for a little overhang, not had any issues with four DD hives per 8 ft.
Moving bee hives is always a lot of work, and some bees will undoubtedly be lost because of the move. However, the few that will be lost are quickly made up for by a good laying queen. Great idea on your method, but still, a lot of work. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Hive lifter makes one too. There made in the usa. I got the hand crank one a few years back. You can buy forks to that I use if you have cleats on your boxes like I do. Just check the price 1150. Dollers hand crank one. The power one is 1650. Plus shipping. The forks like i use are 75 doller. Just putting in my 2 cents. Thank for the video work Jeff you guy do a good job. Gary in PA.
Thank you Gary for sharing the information. I made sure to mention in the description of this video that folks should investigate the different types and manufactures of the lift before deciding on one to purchase as there are more than the one I used. Again, thank you for helping in that manner as well as for taking the time to watch the video. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
I really enjoy your videos Jeff. Keep em coming! I bought the B3 model last fall. I love it. It's a real back saver and works in both honey house and beeyard.
All the models are nice, and you can rest assured, I will have one of them myself as soon as I decide which one suits my needs best. Don't fret, we'll be making more as long as you keep watching. Thanks for doing that for me Mark. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
It’s a dream of mine to some day have all of this equipment and such a beautiful bee farm like you do. I hope I can afford to do this some day. You make it look so easy but I know it ain’t
Beekeeping is a lot of hard work, but well worth the effort to do it. I have been keeping bees since 1978 and have loved every minute of it. I wish you all the best in your endeavor to making your dream come true. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Nikki. Mr. Ed
Good explanation of why to leave them closed or not. I've found that the minumum time to leave them sequestered to reorient them is 32 hours. Three days is plenty more time than needed. I use the rule of two nights, in other words, one whole day then I can open them up again. You are correct, when moving in cold weather (no flight) it is not necessary to take any other measures for them to reorient properly.
I wouldn’t mind having one of those. I’m using a modified dolly for now. Works great for moving colonies, but obviously you don’t have all the veracity you get with a lifter.
If a beekeeper can afford it, this is a necessary tool....especially if you work your bees by yourself. I will be having one before harvest time this year. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. @JeffHorchoff ya i think i will be wanting one my self so ya'll test then il see im trying to get little yard from 4 to 10is or 13 hives so we will see how i do.
So do I. He and I have been in the same bee club for more than 16 years and have been friend since then as well. Thanks for watching. God's peace Harvey. Mr. Ed
I released the bees yesterday when the temps were in the low 40's, and only a few of them ventured out the hive to see what was going on. It was a good day of beekeeping, no stings. Thanks for watching. God's peace Niki. Mr. Ed
If any one does this in warm weather make sure the holes are taped up at night when all the bees are inside. 15 hundred dollars is a lot cheaper then going to the surgery. They do have nice food in there though hahaha
One reason I did this during the cold is the bees were locked in already. For sure, if it's warm, they have to be closed in at night. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Big Hi 👋 to you guys. This Video was interesting. Being in a wheelchair, it is always interesting to see different pieces of equipment & how they help. In Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 it's been Hot. Today Feb 3rd it 32°C. 🫂🙏🏻😇👋🇦🇺
Jeff, I got a hive removal for you. It's in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. Book your flight and come help me, you wont need any winter gear. 😊
You don't know how tempted I am to take you up on the offer. Unfortunately, between the upcoming speaking events this month and next, and splits and swarm season right around the corner, it will just have to wait. Still, I appreciate you thinking about me and asking. God's peace Stefan. Mr. Ed
I would not mind it at all. As a matter of fact, I will be at the abbey all day on Friday if you should happen to pass by. I can be found in the casket shop. Hope to see you. God's peace Thomas. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff Won't be heading back to Florida until I think Wednesday next week. My mom was interested in getting some bees. I will have to source all the basics before doing so obviously.
I agree 100%, and my very own hive lift will be arriving in just a few days. Pulling honey supers will be so easy this year. Thanks for watching. God's peace Connie. Mr. Ed
I'll be seeing Joey and World Famous Mike Barry tonight at the bee club meeting in Franklinton. I'll let Joey know you asked about him. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace David. Mr. Ed

Normally I would have put a block of wood on the entrance and taped over the wood. However, due to the cold and inactivity of the bees, I was not concerned with that. Not one bee wound up on the sticky side of the tape. Thanks for watching. God's peace Susan. Mr. Ed
Well isn't that a goof ball bunch, be difficult to get work done with you jokesters. This is the first time I have noticed you run entrances on the edges like that, interesting bottom board. Awesome tool if ya have level ground, I see Joey has been practicing with it.😂He is much smoother with it.

Great. Another toy oops, I mean tool I will have to justify purchasing. The War Office will be soooo impressed😂 Guess you don't really want to hear that it hit 44 Degrees Celcius / 111 Farenheit here in Perth, Western Australia today...
Mr. Ed, You HAVE to get a hive lifter. You and Charlie aren't getting any younger and, how many hives do you have? Those can be used to lift and hold your supers up while checking brood. Lift heavy loaded honey supers and load them on the trailer to take back to the honey house. I encourage you to rethink about getting a hive lifter. I've been watching YT videos on them lately and I have to say, I'll be trying to the the bee club to get one. How many times did you guys say "saves your back?"
Not to fret, I'm looking at them right now and we will have one before harvest time. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff Thanks for the reply, Mr. Ed, and I'm very glad to see that you are serious about getting a hive lifter! With that many boxes and doing all that checking, what a workout! I should have made known to you that back in 2021 we started watching TH-cam videos quite frequently. YT, as you know, suggests videos on a variety of topics and bee keeping videos started showing up. Since my uncle was a bee keeper, and my brother in law is a bee keeper, I/we started watching them. I have to say that there are perhaps around four to maybe eight of your videos that I haven't watched all the way through. Other than that, I've watched every one and never miss them when they come out. I've seen them all. Same thing for 628 Dirtrooster, and have watched several from world famous Mike Berry (SP?), Kamon Renyolds, Fredrick Dunn, Jason Christiman (SP? I can't spell worth a hoot, sometimes smoke rolls out of my steel checker.), and a host of others that you know well and probably some you don't. I interrupted my Bible study (Logos software) to reply to your reply. May God bless you and yours.
As our temps were so low when we did this, there were VERY few field bees out of the hive. The few that were out will find a hive to go to. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
So, if after you moved the first set, you made placement for the second set then second set for third set,it would have been less lifting. Second set on first set beams and on.
I wish you had been there to suggest that to us, it would have made thing way simpler. To be sure, when I move hives again, and it will be very soon, I will do exactly as you suggested. Thank you for your idea and for watching, it is greatly appreciated. Also, I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Not at all as long as the bees are blocked up before hand and locked into the hive for about 2 or 3 days. By doing that, the bees, upon release, will automatically reset their GPS's and orient on the new location and not go back to the old location. @@JeffHorchoff Up here in Canada, Canadian Geese a very agressive, because they are here during mating season, so they attack you to defend their nest if you simply walk by a little too close to what they consider their territory. But yes they are magnificent from far away. And they announce the arrival of winter when they leave for the South and the arrival of spring when they return. I hear them loudly has they fly over the house. When they return, we can finally be sure that Spring is here. I have been watching all your videos for years now. It is always fascinating to see where bees end up calling home, and how organized a hive and it's comb is.
I said the same thing when they told me what they were getting ready to do, but I'm not the land owners. I just hope I can get 4 years before I have to move the hives again. Thanks for watching. God's peace Wade. Mr. Ed

I'm doing my homework on buying one right now. Rest assured, I will have one before harvest time this year. Thanks for watching. God's peace Ray.
Mr. Ed
@JeffHorchoff ya i think i will be wanting one my self so ya'll test then il see im trying to get little yard from 4 to 10is or 13 hives so we will see how i do.
God bless you and Charlie and all those who help you wrangle bees. Say hello to Mona.
We like Joey’s channel
So do I. He and I have been in the same bee club for more than 16 years and have been friend since then as well. Thanks for watching. God's peace Harvey.
Mr. Ed
Shalom to you as well my friend.
Mr. Ed, are you ready to welcome a bunch of stir-crazy bees in three days? 🤣😂
Mr. Ed
Lol at around 5:30 when those birds (Jays?) Started calling my cockatiel Gryphon got rather alarmed and looked out the window for them
To funny, and the were Jays. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
You have a front end loader? Get right angled welded in that bucket for lifts. Do all but the block in one lift. Thank you
I wish we had a front end loader, that would bee really nice. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
You need one Mr. ED
I agree 100%, and I'm looking into them right now. Trust me, before harvest time we will have one. God's peace Sherry.
Mr. Ed
What an awesome way to move them. Blessings, my friend 🙏😊💕🤗
Big Hi 👋 to you guys. This Video was interesting. Being in a wheelchair, it is always interesting to see different pieces of equipment & how they help. In Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 it's been Hot. Today Feb 3rd it 32°C. 🫂🙏🏻😇👋🇦🇺
Stay cool and keep on watching, I really appreciate it Heather. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff no problem Mr. Ed! I'm happy you even considered the possibility.
Hope you don't mind if I stop by to visit on my way through Louisiana. Drove right through Slidell and thought about you.
Hi mr Ed.
I wonder how many of us beekeepers use HF ratchet straps?
I have lots of stuff from HF, it's affordable and serves the need. God's peace David.
Mr. Ed
Any time you can save your back, do it! Your back has to last a lifetime!
I agree 100%, and my very own hive lift will be arriving in just a few days. Pulling honey supers will be so easy this year. Thanks for watching. God's peace Connie.
Mr. Ed
Hey! It's me again Joey!
I'll be seeing Joey and World Famous Mike Barry tonight at the bee club meeting in Franklinton. I'll let Joey know you asked about him. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace David.
Mr. Ed
Yep, Its me again.😃😃😃
Thanks for another great video! Won't the bees be deprived of oxygen if all entrances are completely closed off?
They will have lots of oxogen, I run screened bottom boards. Thanks for watching. God's peace Brian.
Mr. Ed
Dream Big brother 🙏
And since I love naps, I dream often. However, be sure of this, I will be having a lift before harvest time this year. Thanks for watching. God's peace Edward.
Mr. Ed
When using tape to block the entrances, don't you worry about hurting or damaging some of the girls that are unlucky enough to get stuck to the tape?
Normally I would have put a block of wood on the entrance and taped over the wood. However, due to the cold and inactivity of the bees, I was not concerned with that. Not one bee wound up on the sticky side of the tape. Thanks for watching. God's peace Susan.
Mr. Ed
Well isn't that a goof ball bunch, be difficult to get work done with you jokesters.
This is the first time I have noticed you run entrances on the edges like that, interesting bottom board.
Awesome tool if ya have level ground, I see Joey has been practicing with it.😂He is much smoother with it.
I'm sure if I moved as many hives as Joey had I'd be at least half as good as he was. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Little bit.
I like it. Did you order one for the Abbey yet?
Not yet, I am doing my homework on it right now. Rest assured, by harvest time, we will have one. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Great job god bless
Joey Rawls to the rescue!
My man Joey! Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
😊😊
Me Ed looks like Joseph Rawls is good help
Mr Ed guess you can tell my fingers are to fat for the keyboard
He is GREAT help, plus a great guy as well. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
To funny, but I understand perfectly. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
When Charlie mentiuned food I thought Jeff is going to say Chinese.
Great minds think alike. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Great. Another toy oops, I mean tool I will have to justify purchasing. The War Office will be soooo impressed😂 Guess you don't really want to hear that it hit 44 Degrees Celcius / 111 Farenheit here in Perth, Western Australia today...
I don't mind hot but that's crazy hot. I going to have to get that toy as well. God's peace Phil.
Mr. Ed
Thankfully it is a dry heat... I would be complaining if it was humid as well..
Does leaving the boxes sealed a few days basically evict the roaming field bees? (Understandably a drop in the bucket compared to the hive population)
As our temps were so low when we did this, there were VERY few field bees out of the hive. The few that were out will find a hive to go to. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
From the title, I thought you'd have the Dirt Rooster moving them!
That would have been the easiest way for sure! Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
🤣🤣
Mr. Ed
I hurt my back pray for me
So sorry to hear that Tony, I will include you in my daily prayer list. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
You got it. 🙏🙏🙏
Another great video, dont know why im craving Chinese food now?
If you ever make it down here for a visit, I will take you to Charlie's and my favorite Chinese buffet! Thank you for all you do for me Larry. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I must have missed it. Where does one obtain one of these?
There are not a lot of manufacture's of this product, but I would strongly urge you to investigate the different types available before making a decision on purchasing one. I simply goggled "bee hive lifters" and found a few of them. However, for this particular one the site is:

What is the website for the mover?

I thought it would be bad to move bees less than a mile, since they will go back to the original spot
Not at all as long as the bees are blocked up before hand and locked into the hive for about 2 or 3 days. By doing that, the bees, upon release, will automatically reset their GPS's and orient on the new location and not go back to the old location. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. Jeff world famous Mike Barry just took the dirt roosters advice on cleaning frames. How cam you let a friend be led astray/
I saw that, and I hung my head in shame, the poor guy is losing it. Imagine taking advise from the Dirt Rooster. What is the world coming to? Thanks for watching. God's peace Jay.
Mr. Ed
DO YOUHAVETOKILLBEES TO MONITOR MITES?
Not in all situations, but since I don't check for mites, I don't kill bees looking for mites. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Oh, you start the video with cobra chicken... *shudder* .
I'm not a fan of Canadian geese, but they certainly are magnificent on someone else's property. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Isabelle.
Mr. Ed
👍🏻🐝🇧🇷
Someone is intentionally planting a cane break?😱 Get ready to move those hives again in a year or two when the cane explodes and takes over.
I agree Wade, the only way to get rid of the Bamboo once its established is to move to a new location, Bamboo is no bueno!
I said the same thing when they told me what they were getting ready to do, but I'm not the land owners. I just hope I can get 4 years before I have to move the hives again. Thanks for watching. God's peace Wade.
Mr. Ed
🇸🇦👍
Thanks for sharing god bless
