Actually, this time it wasn't a trick. Papi for guys and mami for girls is used a lot in Spanish in place of friend "amigo/a" if you're being/acting queer. Not as an insult, think of it as being akin to calling someone queen or king in English 😊 glad I could help

So heres the thing, Roier isn't particularly lying because for example, my mom and some other people I know like to use the words "Mami" or "Papi" whenever they talk to their friends. So even though it means Mom/Mommy and Dad/Daddy in english, some, not all, Hispanics use it as way of showing close friendship. Not in a weird messed up way most people think.
Yeah many people use cute nick names and compliments to anyone, even to strangers, like saying "dude" or "friend".
But let's face it, Roier don't do that. So his "Papi" is "Papi ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)"
YES!! Even when talking to little kids they call them "papi" or "mami" like "whats wrong papi?"
I had a Colombian friend back when I was working in Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria; he liked being called papi, and while I was a sheltered white Christian kid, I giggled with everyone else, cuz I want *that* sheltered. But he was never like, shamed by it. He also had a gorgeous Spanish speaking voice. Like he was reading books or something
Isn't is sort of like baby then, I could call my friend baby or my cat baby but still there's a romantic connotation if it's between peers and said in a certain way. Not "messed up" at all but, you know?

When I saw that comment I checked out the Vod and It's true when u go back and forth to before and after you can clearly see his face went red XDDD
Let me explain, in spanish we often use slurs, sexual innuendos and mockery with friends as a way to prove friendship, it's like testing the bonds, so it is pretty common to use "papi" as a friendly emote, however, spanish language is 60% tone and context, roier used it as friend, and got worried since jaiden doesn't know how to use it whithout sounding sexual, tone saying it is key, it's the difference between calling someone a dick and calling someone awesome

He’s not lying tho😂 The usage of mom/dad is different in Spanish and can literally be used as slang for a friend or family member cuz for us it’s no different than saying “familiar girl/boy I know”.

Mexican here! And even though papi means dad/daddy, as in many other cases in Mexican Spanish, the meaning of the word varies according to the context. Like, moms and dad's use mami and papi to address their children in a caring way or a friend can use it as a synonym of friend.
