I don't like red lipstick personally - although Mattiel suits it; I prefer pale lips with dramatic eyes, 60s style!
If you found your style that’s what counts!
Red lipstick is much easier when you're younger. When you get older, it bleeds much more easily, and matte formulations can look harsh. I have to wear blue reds anyway because of my complexion, but I've found that as I age, a creamier, cranberry red (with an uncolored lip liner pencil) is more flattering and forgiving. A bright red lip makes me look literally insane. It's too much. I wish I could, though...
