    In this video we will be talking about 4 ways to simplify your life from the philosophy of Lao Tzu. Lao Tzu was an ancient Chinese philosopher who is known to be the founder of Taoism and the writer of Taoism’s most sacred text, the Tao Te Ching.
    So with that in mind, here are 4 ways to simplify your life from the philosophy of Lao Tzu -
    01. Cultivate the three treasures of Taoism
    02. Go with the flow
    03. Let go
    04. Find your balance
    We hope you enjoyed watching the video and hope these 4 ways, from the philosophy of Lao Tzu, will help you to simplify your life.
    Taoism is a Chinese philosophy attributed to Lao Tzu which contributed to the folk religion of the people primarily in the rural areas of China and became the official religion of the country under the Tang Dynasty. Taoism is therefore both a philosophy and a religion. Taoism teaches to embrace wonder and the joy in living gracefully with style. Lao Tzu was an ancient Chinese philosopher and writer who is known to be the founder of Taoism. He is also credited as the writer of Taoism’s most sacred text, the Tao Te Ching and his words can apply to people all over the world.

    After 30 years of relationships and the joy and satisfaction these time and experiences brought into my life I have discovered my true place to be for me is single and free. I have endless freedom and time with family, friends, new experiences and personal pursuits. I can be who I choose to be. I have no credit cards and more cash and closet space than I ever need. Completely BS and drama free. I am the type of person who chooses my own happiness not allowing others to pull me into their own self chosen misery. I can have tacos every day of the week if I wish. Life is much simpler and satisfying.

    I have practice taoism for a while , now.
    simple and compassion is what Laotzu teaching the world.
    I live on $1 dollar aday in china for 1 years in study taosim, I eat one meal a day for 1 years. My master or teacher taught me,
    eat what you got, wear what you have , no complain. I was meditation in a cave up the mountains. He said, look why are you worry there are 8 millions people below in the cities, if we run out of foods and clothes, we go down and ask them, some of them must have left over foods and left over old clothes.
    after when i got back to uk. I clean up my house, and keep everything simples. I never complain again. I fear nothing , i worry nothing, I blame no body, I don't blame fate.. nothing.
    beacuse fear won't help you, worry won't help you. if it is going to happen , nothing can stop the Tao, even it is happen, nothing happen. so what .. if i die, i'm free from this prison and travel the universe in all directions freedom from suffering and bs.
    thanks for sharing... you don't need to achieve anything in this world, everything is fake and not real. things come and goes away, just like our body and mind. it is just an illusion a big dream. you can take nothing, and you won't come back to live it again. so stop do evil bs and leave behind problems for others.

    I've been struggling recently with my relationships with people. I'm an alcoholic and I recently quit drinking, turns out when I'm sober I don't like people all that much. I definitely see people as tools to use for my own benefit. I'm trying to change, I'm trying to learn how to care about people, even tho my every instinct rebels against it. I like how he says that we should have unconditional compassion for other people. I can't imagine living like that today, but it's something for me to work towards.

    The happiest people not the ones who achieve the most but the ones who spend more time than other in the state of flow.Programme our mind to experience more positive emotions while with negative thoughts we must choose consciously let them go instead of dewling on them because our emotions colour all our experiences.

    Guess what? I had to become severely disabled to understand wuwei. Not only the body but the minds need rest too. Our reality is made of qi 気 (energy), our bodies are also made of energy and Consciousness has the power to attract, repulse or create situations according to how we feel. Not how we think. If we feel relaxed and full of energy, the Universe will respond by providing us exactly what we need. The more we work and the stress and tired we get, the less likely we are to see our needs met. There is no such thing as being lazy, it's a cultural construct to drain our energy. In actual fact to live a peaceful and joyful life, we just need to relax and enjoy the ride because what you need and want from the deep of your soul, it's already on its way. 😘😊🙏💖🤗😉😁

    Love all this. Only reservation, speaking as a retired older woman, is that the compassion, humility aspect is problematic for women in western society. In Asia (where I worked for some years), humility is a sign of maturity. Outside of Asia, it is often seen as weakness or simply not seen. These principles are very similar to those I was taught as how to behave as a Catholic girl. In western society, such a mindset led me to be taken advantage of by much more aggressive men who had no qualms about stealing my work or talking over me though they had far less expertise. In such a scenario, it’s easy for women to end up making coffee & struggling to support their families, while less principled men flourish.

      @@bobbydabuddhist She said she was taken advantage of by more aggressive men in western culture, she did not say all men are aggressive in western culture. Yet I agree western culture is generally more aggressive and that it is more possible to have such experiences. I do not believe she was trying to be a misogynist but rather explain why compassion is harder in more aggressive cultures.

      As Catholic, God will reward you eventually. In the West, do what the Roman's do but with less qualms about stealing. Your experience will become victorious and his "flourishing" will be recognized as your contribution. Your superiors will see the truth. Your character is better prepared.

    My family and friends are so high strung and over stimulated from television and social media that Im without a doubt the only one in my social circle that can see through the BS of society and be able to stay patient throughout any situation. I did my research during the 2020 hysteria and realized there was nothing to fear. But all of my family and friends got hooked into it all. What a shame but it really opened my eyes to who I can and cant trust. Ironically the year was 2020 because I finally saw the people that I surround myself with in 20/20 vision.

      Perhaps you should watch the "humility" portion of the video again. Thinking that your version is correct in totality actually goes against the teachings of Lao Tzu. For many the "2020 hysteria" was catastrophic and life-changing. Just because you, personally, did not feel it was, does not mean the fears of others were not valid.

      @@coolbreeze2213 Is a longer poem, very cool, written cca 1850.
      GLOSA (orig. Romanian title)
      Days go past, and days come still,
      All is old and all is new,
      What is well and what is ill,
      You imagine and construe
      Do not hope and do not fear,
      Waves that leap like waves must fall;
      Should they praise or should they jeer,
      Look but coldly on it all.
      Things you'll meet of many a kind,
      Sights and sounds, and tales no end,
      But to keep them all in mind
      Who would bother to attend?...
      Very little does it matter,
      If you can yourself fulfil,
      That with idle, empty chatter
      Days go past and days come still.
      Little heed the lofty ranging
      That cold logic does display
      To explain the endless changing
      Of this pageantry of joy,
      And which out of death is growing
      But to last an hour or two;
      For the mind profoundly knowing
      All is old and all is new.
      As before some troupe of actors,
      You before the world remain;
      Act they Gods, or malefactors,
      'Tis but they dressed up again.
      And their loving and their slaying,
      Sit apart and watch, until
      You will see behind their playing
      What is well and what is ill.
      What has been and what to be
      Are but of a page each part
      Which the world to read is free.
      Yet who knows them off by heart?
      All that was and is to come
      Prospers in the present too,
      But its narrow modicum
      You imagine and construe.
      With the selfsame scales and gauges
      This great universe to weigh,
      Man has been for thousand ages
      Sometimes sad and sometimes gay;
      Other masks, the same old story,
      Players pass and reappear,
      Broken promises of glory;
      Do not hope and do not fear.
      Do not hope when greed is staring
      O'er the bridge that luck has flung,
      These are fools for not despairing,
      On their brows though stars are hung;
      Do not fear if one or other
      Does his comrades deep enthral,
      Do not let him call you brother,
      Waves that leap like waves must fall.
      Like the sirens' silver singing
      Men spread nets to catch their prey,
      Up and down the curtain swinging
      Midst a whirlwind of display.
      Leave them room without resistance,
      Nor their commentaries cheer,
      Hearing only from a distance,
      Should they praise or should they jeer.
      If they touch you, do not tarry,
      Should they curse you, hold your tongue,
      All your counsel must miscarry
      Knowing who you are among.
      Let them muse and let them mingle,
      Let them pass both great and small;
      Unattached and calm and single,
      Look but coldly on it all.
      Look but coldly on it all,
      Should they praise or should they jeer;
      Waves that leap like waves must fall,
      Do not hope and do not fear.
      You imagine and construe

    Lao Tzu's wisdom is really much more efficient & helpful to individuals than Confucius teachings, which is more for the ruling class to dominate & brainwash the lower classes/commoners like us, hence adapted & promoted by the gov't/emperor for thousands of years, rather than encouraging Lao Tzu's teachings in China...
    The book of Tao De Ching is the essence of living a simple & peaceful & content life from both inside & outside elements.
    Once you get the wisdoms of it, life will change & become better for you coz your mindset has changed & improved. It really worked for me, took me about 2-3 years to calm down & see through lots of things in my life.
    Enjoy & best of luck to you!

      无为而治 - go with the flow, don't meddle with the strong external trends in the world, don't even go against it, even if it doesn't make common senses sometimes
      上善若水 - the best element is the water, learn from the water, be flex & adoptive, matching the harmony of your inner self to the external elements of this world, reaching the peacefulness of yourself
      lots more famous wisdom phrases in the book, really mind opening, can't believe he figured it all out thousands of years ago...

    "A real authentic man lives life, not scriptures. And by sheer living, intensively, totally, he is surrounded by mystery all over. Each moment is a mystery. You can taste it, but you can not reduce it to objective knowledge.
    That's the meaning of mystery: you have a certain way of knowing it, but there is no way to reduce it to knowledge. It never becomes knowledge, it always remains knowing.
    You have a sense of knowing, but if somebody insists, "If you know, then give me the answer," and you are a true, honest man, you will say, "I have a sense of knowing but I also have another sense that it cannot be reduced to knowledge."
    That's why Lao Tzu refused to write anything his whole life... for the simple reason that the moment you write it, it is something else. But this can be detected only by one who has some acquaintance with mystery.
    It is not a question of scholarship: a scholar cannot detect anything wrong in Lao Tzu. Confucius was a great scholar in Lao Tzu's time, his contemporary. The world knows Confucius more than Lao Tzu, naturally: he was a great scholar, a well-known wiseman. Great emperors used to visit him for advice. The emperor of China, who must have been the greatest emperor of those days -- because China has always been a continent unto itself -- appointed Confucius to be his prime minister, so that he was always available to him for advice.
    But when Confucius went to see Lao Tzu, do you know what happened? He came back with almost a nervous breakdown. Lao Tzu was known at least to those people who were in search. And when the disciples of Confucius came to know that he was going to Lao Tzu they waited outside -- Lao Tzu was living in a mountain cave.
    Confucius did not want anybody else to accompany him because he knew that that man was strange, unpredictable. How he may behave, what he will do, what he will say, nobody knows. And before your own disciples... he may cut you to pieces. It is better to go alone first. So he said to his disciples, you wait outside. Let me go." And when he came out, he was trembling.
    The disciples said, what happened?"
    He said, "Just take me home. I am not myself That man is a dragon, never go to that man."
    What had happened there inside the cave? Lao Tzu's disciples were there, that's why we know what happened, otherwise a great meeting would have been missed. Lao Tzu's disciples were also very shocked even his disciples, because Confucius was older than Lao Tzu, far more well-known, respected. Who knew Lao Tzu? -- very few people.
    And the way Lao Tzu behaved with Confucius was simply outrageous. But not for Lao Tzu. He was a simple man, neither arrogant nor humble, just a pure human being. And if it hit hard -- his purity, his innocence, and his ordinariness -- if it hit hard on Confucius, what could he do?
    If you go to a mirror and the mirror shows your face to be ugly, is it the fault of the mirror? You can do one thing, you can avoid mirrors -- never look in a mirror. Or you can manufacture a mirror that makes you look beautiful. That is possible. There are hundreds of types of mirrors, concave and convex, and who knows what.... You can manage to look long, and you can manage to look fat; you can manage to look small, and you can manage to look beautiful.
    Perhaps the mirrors you have are deceiving you. Perhaps the manufacturers are creating mirrors to give you a consolation -- that you are so beautiful. Particularly women, standing before the mirror forget everything else. It is very difficult to take a woman away from the mirror. She goes on looking in the mirror. It must be something in the mirror, otherwise people are just homely.
    Lao Tzu's disciples said, "What did you do?"
    He said, "I have not done anything, I simply reflected; it was my response. That idiot thinks he knows, and he is only a scholar. Now what can I do if I made it clear to him that all scholarship is rubbish, and told him,'You don't know anything at all'?" And when you face a man like Lao Tzu you cannot be dishonest either, at least in front of him.
    Confucius remained just like a statue, frozen, because what Lao Tzu was saying was right. Scholarship is not knowing. You are quoting others, have you anything to say on your own?" And Confucius had nothing to say on his own. He was a great scholar he could have quoted all the old ancient scriptures but on his own? He had never thought about it, that anybody was going to ask, Have you something to say of your own?
    And when Lao Tzu looked at him Confucius knew that that man could not be deceived. Confucius asked him about something. Lao Tzu said, "No, I don't know anything."
    Then Confucius asked, "What happens after death?"
    And Lao Tzu was just like a flare, became aflame, and he said, "Again! Are you going to drop your stupidity or not? You are alive -- can you say what life is? You are alive -- can you reduce your experience of life into objective knowledge and make a statement of what life is? And remember that you are alive, so you must know.
    "You don't know life while you are alive and you are bothering about death! You will have enough time in your grave. At that time you can meditate on what death is. Right now, live! And don't live lukewarm."
    Many people go on living on dimmer switches. They go on dimming, dimming. They don't die, they simply go on dimming; they simply fade out. Death happens to only a very few people, those who have really lived and lived hot. They know the difference between life and death because they have tasted life, and that experience of life makes them capable of tasting death too. And because they know life, they can know death. If living, you miss life; dying, you are going to miss death.
    "And you are wasting your time; just go out and live!" said Lao Tzu to Confucius. "And one day you will be dead. Don't be worried: I have never heard of anybody living for ever, so one day you will be dead. Death takes no exceptions -- that you are a great scholar or a prime minister. You will die, that much I can predict. Nothing else is predictable but that much can be predicted easily -- that you will die. And in your grave, silently, meditate on what death is."
    Confucius was trembling. The king also asked him, "You have been to Lao Tzu -- what happened?"
    Confucius said, "All that I was afraid of happened. He made me look so idiotic that even after forty-eight hours I am still trembling. I am still afraid of that man's face -- I had nightmares for two nights! That man is following me, and, it seems, will go on following me. And he had some eyes! They go just like swords into you." He said, "One thing I can say to you as your adviser: don't ever think of meeting this man. He is a dragon, he is not a man."
    Mysticism is to know life, without knowledge standing in between you and living."

    • @AllIn1Studio
      @AllIn1Studio ปีที่แล้ว +5

      May I suggest switching one of your desires to a results-oriented yearn. For example desire a supple healthy body can have you simply walking round the block every night instead watching reels on Instagram or mindless tv progs. Your sense of achievement outweighs your other desire in that you get that dopamine seratonin in rush reward. Be kind and patient with yourself and the universe responds accordingly. Out of nowhere one of your earlier desires or dreams becomes fulfilled. Stay grateful to your creator too!

    • @dr.gaosclassroom

      I agree completely. It is very hard to let go of things that offer us comfort for a moment. Sometimes, desires and temptation only cause stress and anxiety and preventing us to get the simplicity and peace we want. The other Taoism founder Chuang Tzu offers a much detailed suggestions about this. I am a philosopher and I made a video a while ago on how to find peace and letting go of things that causes anxiety. Maybe it could offer some help. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/U-h-Yz7SMtU/w-d-xo.html

    This is very helpful. BUT. There are reasons that people make the choices they make and/or behave the way that they do that may not make sense, at first glance, even when reflecting on the wisdom contained in this video. Being in sheer survival mode or experiencing present/past trauma have nothing to do with decisions involving career difficulties, not getting what you want materialistically or even breaking up a significant relationship. You can have a perfect intellectual understanding of Lao Tzu's excellent advice, but everything you know goes out the window when you are, for example, terrified of being abandoned physically or emotionally. Or if you have no safe place to land in this world! (Abraham Maslow's work, always).

    Yes you can live the life of a Tao master if you have a place away from the modern world where you can live for free. But whilst these principles are great to include in your own life philosophy, especially a degree of simplicity, the trouble with following these ancient eastern masters is that they lived monastic lives with a designated role in their culture and community.. They did not have to compete for their food or a roof over their heads. Trying to apply their philosophy to thriving as a single or family in the modern competitive world is unrealistic. You can't just sit back, continually yielding and going with the flow and still achieve your goals. Just getting a job in the first place will only happen if you are willing to play the HR game. It is necessary to be able to promote yourself, especially if you are the product you are leveraging. This is true whether you are in business working for yourself, or trying to get a leg up into a particular sector or level of income. That's reality.

    When I was a child we got a morning newspaper. We had 13 channels on the TV. And that wasn’t the total amount of channels, no. There was like channel 3, 7, 10, 11 and 13. It went off air before midnight. All you’d get was snow as entertainment. Their way of saying, ‘Hey Man, show’s over. Go to bed. Go read a novel. Go play your instrument. Whatever. But tv time will resume tomorrow morning Palsy’. NBC would broadcast their rainbow color scheme as their screensaver back then. Hysterical! We’re way way over stimulated these days. Media up the wazoo! People holding an iPhone in one hand and tryna do something else with the other. Have two SM sites open to comment and post chronically. People have given their brains to an electronic device that promises to be a smart one. Ooh we, how @$$toot is it Mr. Jobs? We needed to free up space in our minds for world tragedies? Indeed. Individuals feeling the necessity to solve global issues, on a keyboard no less. On a questionable SM site. Daily! Too much mental stimulation these days. That’s why we’re all going cray cray! The human brain wasn’t adapted to a constant ‘fight or flight syndrome’ state of mind. Robert J Sawyer said, ‘One of the greatest paths to inner peace lies in our ability to ignore things’. Things=people. Things=situations Things=anything that interrupts your peaceful perspective. ✌🏼
