I just hit a 13.23s quarter in my KN which has no performance mods yet and stock tires! Not even an intake yet 😅 Our test nights are unprepped as well. These are fantastic platforms and can't wait to mod.
Thanks man! I think you should definitely first get the SXTH lower motor Mount and sticker tires, that’ll help you get better traction once you get your mods
The stock Kona is, of course, outclassed by cars that are either tuned or in a faster realm (Tesla 3) than it. Apply some go-fast goodies to the Kona and the runs would be a lot closer. The Hyundai acquits itself well even out of the box.

If you have a manual parking brake...use it instead of the lauch control....i launch my non-N Kona using the hand brake and throttle to launch since i dont have launch control and it works good (best 2.03 on the 60') good luck next time
I will definitely have to try that. Usually I’m not a fan of launch control, but it seems like the N’S have a pretty good launch control since it allows you to adjust the rpm’s with the steering wheel
@@RobTheNthusiast just give it a try...nothing to loose...remember to release the hand break when the engine is reving up so it gives you more inertia to lauch better...just my .02 cents
@@RobTheNthusiast i mean...do not maintain steady at certain RPMs....keeps reving up and down until you feel the engine is going up in revs and go for it...forget the Christmas Tree...that have nothing to do with your elapse time.

I know that this is a track oriented car but it definitely isn’t the wrong car for drag racing either. It traps within a .5 second and 3.5 mph of what my stinger GT AWD did. I’m getting JB4 at some point this year or early next year then eventually getting an ecu tune. This car is very light, so once it’s tuned, I should definitely be running mid to low 12s

I have a Kons n now--but had a Stinger and also beat a subbie--a 500 HP one.But yep with that spin and against a 3.3TT Stinger there is no way to catch up.Nothing like public drag night tho and you at least show up to do it.
@@RobTheNthusiast Yeah.I sold my Stinger for an almost 10k profit --got almost 50k(paid 36k ) for it and simply bought a Kona N outright and put the extra money in the bank.Stinger was great but it sat way too low--I had 2 flats in one year.I think from now on I will get sport SUV/CUV because sitting up higher and having the higher ground clearance makes it much less stressful to drive.Also i live near ATL and turo here is very competitive.You can rent teslas--corvettes etc for around 250 dollars a day--so if I really want to dominate at public drag I simply will rent a tesla--even extoics are less then 500 a day.

In the first two races I didn’t spin at all because the track was prepped. The rest of the races involved a lot of wheel spin for everybody I saw racing, the crew gave up on prepping the track In between heats
For sure, I’ve considered that. I have plans to switch to carbon ceramic brakes and switch to forged wheels once I get adjusted to the whichever tune I decide to get next year
@@RobTheNthusiast I run a 2017 Golf R stage 3. I highly recommend going to a 2 piece rotor and aluminum caliper at the front. As for wheels go to a 18x8.5 forged wheel like Volk Racing, Websport TC105X, Enkei RPF1 etc. Add a Michlen PS4S or Cup2 tire. The cup 2 weights 5lbs less per tire vs PS4S.

Also, a heads up. The reaction time does factor when actually racing of course but is not factored in your quarter time.

Lowering the psi too much can possibly affect your mph because the car has to work harder to pull it down the track🤔

Fast car, what is your 1/4 speed, compared to that AWD Stinger?
So the best I got in the stinger stock was 12.73 seconds at 108 mph, my Kona’s quickest was 13.31 at 105 mph, not too far off

My slowest run was 4-5 mph slower than my fastest. They stopped prepping the track after the first few hours of the event and you can tell.
