HOW BRITISHERS CHANGED MIZORAM & NORTHEAST INDIA?

  • Hello Guys,
    In this video, I have shared my experience of Mizoram. I have visited Lunglei, the centre of Christianity in Mizoram. Before the colonial period, northeast Indians use to follow tribal or indigenous religions, but after the arrival of Britishers in the Indian subcontinent, they changed the demographies of it. Britishers sent Christain missionaries to northeast India & that has changed the complete diversity of northeastern states. Within 100 years Christianity became the primal religion of most of the tribe of Northeast India. I was curious about it & to find my answers, I have visited a lot of churches. I also went to the oldest church of Mizoram, which was built by the first Christians of Mizoram.
    Christianity is the largest religion in Mizoram. The majority (87%) of Mizos are Christian in various denominations, predominantly Presbyterian. The government of Mizoram declared that Christianity plays a vital role in the daily life of the Mizo community.
    This was also one of the adverse effects on the diversity of the region & due to mass conversion a lot of different religion became extinct.
    In this video, I have used music from Epidemic sounds & NCS.

      @@panzer0716 How is it possible to get so many things wrong Ina single comment? The church was a moral power which always sided with people who were excluded ever since Jesus established it 2000 years ago. I have read in many books that the only reason that the west is so advanced and modern today is because of the Catholic Church. The Catholic church established universities all over Europe which in turn produced the greatest minds in history. The church loves science, it is the pursuit of humans to find God, make sense out of the senseless. Elites contribute to the church? Of course there might be a very small number of them, but nothing compared to the elites who is against the Catholic church. Catholic church is the only thing which stands in the way of the New World Order and Communism. Next who told you that the church converts everyone they help? People convert only if they express their wish to, no one is forced...the gospel is just being preached to people. The church has always been for human rights throughout history, not against...the church played a major role in abolishing slavery in the west while the Middle East Islamic Nations continue slavery even today. Next about the lands in India....many local landlords in region donated their lands and riches to the church, the church here in India is funded much less than in places like Africa. What you see here In South India particularly is not the work of the Pope in Rome but of the people in India itself. I don't think the Catholic Church is lying when they say the lands are for charitable purposes. Over 25% of orphanages and old age homes in India is run by the church. 30% of education sector is run by the church. It plays a major role in educating the people in India. And no all of the students are not converted to Christianity. Catholics find happiness in doing charity work... they find it as a reflection of God's grace...stop with this foolish claims given by propaganda channels

      @@RodDop-us9ex 1st of slavery was tottaly abolished for effect of crusade and the improvement of church came for the increasing gdp of britain(because people britain made many of laws at that time which gave them rights to live like a true citizens...before that the power was tottaly controlled by the church and the king family...there is a complete story which i will explain you later...) and the next improvement came through american freedom movement led by Thomas jefferson...for his innitiative to make usa economically strong he also proposes laws which give the rights to citizens not the church or govt. and thats why though there is a good influence in church but they can not overwhelm the citizens of usa or can't give any kind of pro elite activity...and talking about the land...today in Delhi and modern cities the cost of land proce and room rent is so high because of the land hording...in delhi where people stick closely together to fit in a small place there is also lots areas of land which are empty...and the lands are under the politicians,judges,missionsries and the islamic madrasas...and talking about world order its kind a fucking shit that our govt. is following this to enslave our country on the hands of USA/NATO elites and even chinese elites...if you thinking that i'm telling lie then i/we proposed some laws that can easily detect which land is belong to whom...like showing the all land data info in govt. websites,TCP,(transparent complaint file),narco test in public,jury system(abolish judge system) and RTR(right to recall)...these laws will easily indentify the truth about these lands...the landhording is the main reason for spreading the cities and it's overwhelming the villages,it also increase the land price and room rent in big cities is too much in big cities and a obstacle for economic growth...

      Chutiyo wali baat hai yeh. Fake secularism.
      Abrahamic cults call Hindus devil worshippers or Kafirs. They consider themselves superior. Read their literature first.
      Go through the Bible, and Old Testament, Qur'an, Seera and Hadees. Then only make any judgement.
      Proselytisation is a national security threat. It cuts off people and their generations from their roots and makes them believe as if their ancestors were all idiots and their new way (post conversion) is the only right way.
      It's a national security threat.

    Did you know that Christianity Started in India in AD 52 , that is much before Christianity reaches to Europe ( India we have a Jewish settlement during that era-first was among those Jews and few of the native people) and those Christians are called Syrian Christians and they are still purely Indian in culture and peaceful. After Portuguese reaches in India they try to spread Christianity in India and those Christians are called Latin Christians. Then later English people started promoting Protestant missionaries as a result English churches like CNI , CSI churches etc was established. Then in the beginning of 20th century brethren groups of people from America started promoting their faith especially in north east India and north India.
    This brethren people also called Pentecost groups known for influencing people for conversation from Hinduism to Christianity. Their work is known for all kind of protests. Syrian Christians/Latin Christians/Protestant are very peaceful people and they are mostly trying to promote education and marginalised people( because of the discrimination faced by the cast system some maybe accepting Christianity that we can avoid if we Hindus stop cast discrimination) . Lots of our Hindu leaders and our people studied in Christian institutions and none of them converted into Christianity instead we all got quality education.
    In my opinion this brethren section is only make all this issues among Christiansbut I may say they are far far better than the Muslim community. We should really focus on them, in Quran itself it’s says to destroy other religions. That’s why Islamic terrorism is happening!
    My suggestion is that we Hindus should handhold with Christians( they are more scholarly and disciplined, also compassionate) and fight against terrorism!!!

    • @firstname5268
      @firstname5268 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing that most people doesn't know about Christianity and thus creating unnecessary issue is that Jesus or his real Hebrew name Yeshua gave his followers the order to go out into the world and make disciples or followers from every nation. By preaching the works of Jesus, Christians are simply being Christians
      The constitution of India allows the propagation of one's religion and that makes preaching of one's religion legal .However I agree with the fact that exploiting people of their economic situation and converting them won't do any good to anyone. They are doing the opposite of what Jesus told, he said when you preach the gospel to places and are rejected than walk out immediately and have nothing to do with them . [You can look up for these words of Jesus in the Bible (I am quoting it not in the exact phrase)] this alone shows that its an offer and invitation and absence of any coersion and so I condemn such acts and practices by some so called Christian groups . But there also are people who falsely accuse Christians for whatever reason. Even I can say that Hindus are carrying out conversion process through the telecastings of TV serials based on the hindu granth. Reasons can be made on any possible ground so before any verification we should withhold ourselves from labeling people.
      Let unity in diversity prevail👍

      Yes right, due to cast system many people converted in budhdhist and Christian, and I also want to become Christian because Christianity is similar to Hinduism, I face so many discrimination by our so called superior cast as like Brahman and Thakur, they treated us as like slaves I don't want to become part of that religion who do that

    • @benben5011
      @benben5011 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      They still practice their own authentic Mizo culture like their local harvest festival like chap char kut, wearing of puan (female lungi), bride price payment opposite of dowry system, here a groom pays an amount for his bride etc. whereas, Christian ritual as being a religious ritual is followed only on religious occasions like marriage as per Christian ritual or church service like any other Christians.. Chrsitiany brought them good amount of social development, now they have their own script, no discrimination as low or high class people, equality, fraternity, communal harmony is a virtue out there.
      Interesting fact : since childhood majority mizos will be good at 2 things for certain that is music and football.. They are conservative community.

    I'm really enjoying the Mizoram series. I started following you this time last while you were in Sri Lanka. Please do another Sri Lanka series, this time explore the East Coast and the National Parks.
